From the Bimah Tikkun Olam CORE VALUE Cantor’s Helping to Heal Others Message at KI’s First Wellness Day Cantor What a day of healing! At the end of Amy E. Levy March, our Social Action Committee hosted Wellness Day at the Families Forward Shelter in West Philadelphia. Our member, Jonathan Schmalzbach, is very involved at the shelter — he envisioned this day and helped us coordinate a truly incredible experience for our KI volunteers! We had over 20 volunteers from our KI Community! We offered wellness in many areas, including Aromatherapy, Reiki, Blood Pressure Screenings, Pain Management, Glitter Meditation Bottle and Dream-Catcher Making, Painting, Yoga, Meditation, Play Therapy, Physical Therapy, Manicures, and Medical Advice. I am so proud of all of our members and preschool families who offered their gifts of healing! Joining me and my daughter Kira were Jane Hirshberg; Cynthia Goldberg; Dr. Rachel Rosen, her daughter Amanda, and step-daughter Scarlet Bova; Dr. Mindi Roeser; Meg Cotter and her daughters Emma and Abigail; Amy and Dr. Doug Gugger and their children Abe, Micah, and JP; Felicia Greenfield; Janel Dia; Lisa Golluber; Lena Khavinson and her daughter Rachel; Kim Plotnick; and Bonnye Kelman. Thank you all for so generously sharing your time and talent! We had about 70 guests come and visit us, and they told us how much this day helped relieve some of their stress. It was an incredible way to connect with a community that needs healing and wholeness. We hope to recreate this special experience again soon, and continue to make a difference right here in our own community! 4 JUNE 2018
