With the support of technology, teaching fraternity, government machinery, educational boards, parents, students and all stakeholders, 2020 saw the biggest evolution in the history of education proving the popular saying, “Necessity is the mother of all inventions.” As it is said, “A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to take the turn”, there is a shimmer of hope as news of vaccines are trickling in. KG Coordinator Report “Learning isn’t a way of reaching one’s potential, but rather a way of developing it.” With the onset of COVID 19 pandemic, schools had to resort to online classes. Our teachers were quick enough to upgrade their technical knowledge and skills to put up the best online classes for our little kids. Since Kindergarteners need parental support to attend the class and to do the academic activities, online learning was started off with the recorded classes from June 6th, 2020. The recorded classes were uploaded through ENTAB which not only dealt with the explanation of the subject matter but also the writing and other activities were demonstrated to guide the parents and children to understand and complete the academic work in the best way possible. In the first term personal interactions with the students were conducted on a monthly basis through Google meet, which helped us to build a rapport with our students. In the second term we continued with the recorded classes, and we commenced live classes for the students once a week through Google meet. The live classes served as a platform to revise the subject matter and also to accelerate the progress of our students. Online learning may be new and different for the students as well as the teachers, but it also allows them to learn in supportive and convenient atmosphere in these unprecedented times. Though the children initially struggled to get acquainted with the technology glitches, now they show great persistence and have progressively become an active participant. Students also enjoyed the opportunity to showcase their creative talents through online competitions and virtual festive celebrations. We extend our profound gratitude to our dear parents for the support and cooperation to make this online learning a great success. Bro. Dennis Joseph , the Principal hoisted the National flag. Abiding by the Covid norms, it was a minimal celebration with the Brothers and a few staff members. The programmes and the message of the day were sent to the students online.
Ona Onam , the harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated at SPA Angamaly in its unique and characteristic way adhering to the protection rules despite the pandemic that has gripped the whole world. The insightful Onam message of Principal, Rev Bro. Dennis Joseph, interwoven with the cultural feast by the students, was obviously a real gift to everyone. It displayed a great fact that the memories of yesteryears can well be convened to the present scenario where sanitisers and masks have claimed an upper hand. The hearty wishes of Vice Principal Bro. John Britto and the creative and vibrant inputs by the teachers , made Onam splendid.
Principal’s Birthday Children's Day The staff and students of SPA came alive on 10th October with the virtual birthday celebration of our dear Principal Bro. Dennis Joseph. We made his birthday enriching with best wishes through flowers, cards, heartfelt words and gifts. The students were exulted to celebrate their Principal’s birthday. It was a joyful occasion as the Patricians expressed their love and fondness to their dear Brother. The program commenced with prayers, wishes and the students showering their felicitation on him. The program further showcased dances which was followed by an euphonious performance of the school choir. The staff were ever ready to put up a wonderful program flooded with songs and dances even though the situation didn’t permit them. We pray and wish Brother to celebrate many more birthdays with peace and happiness. The most valued asset of any teacher is his/ her students. Hence the staff of SPA queued up on Children's Day with all their artistic skills to provide the bit of extra entertainment to their students. The Children's Day programme was put up on virtual platform in the school channel in the form of a small presentation. The presentation began with an instrumental prayer song performed by the Vice Principal Rev. Bro. John Britto. Rev. Bro. Dennis Joseph ,the Principal ,shared the message of the day. He mentioned how one picks up the rudiments of his life from childhood and he added that the best period in one's life is childhood and school life. He exhorted them to live up to their dreams in the most convincing manner. The cultural schedule was a short film 'Freakanum Generationsum Pinne Oru Gapum' scripted and directed by Ms. Vishamol Vasu. The film is an answer to the parents’cocern about their kids’ increased use of electronic gadgets and social media. It communicates the importance of the teachers and the elder generation in framing the mindset and character of youngsters and assures that the right path can be set by guidance and supervision. The song and dance sequences intertwined with the screenplay made it more colourful. The Children's Day 2020 stands as a testimony that no social distancing can deteriorate the warmth and love of a teacher towards his/her students.

ABEL AND T HE TITANIAN 3-2-1-0 Sh Sh........ Shastra-1 has crossed the Earth's atmosphere and came out. Moon, Mars and Jupiter called me but I want to go to Saturn. Suddenly I heard a noise, Shastra is shaking.I realized something dangerous is going to happen. I came to know that a crash land would be needed. My attention turned to the nearest golden sphere. I suddenly remembered the Emergency Pod and I landed safely, albeit with a slight jolt. I realized that it was Titan the largest moon of Saturn because the atmosphere was just like ours.Wow! The golden atmosphere was so beautiful. It was not that cold as I expected and I saw places like dried up ponds. But crash-land shattered all my hope Alas! All the fuel is leaking. I could not bear the grief. Suddenly there was a movement nearby. I felt that someone was looking at me with ‘glowing black eyes, green horns above the head (antenna), frog-like legs, nice shiny blue dress and hi-tech gadgets in hand’. I was shocked and frightened but he was really cute. He came to me slowly. He said in a robotic voice. “I am a Titanian. How did you get here? ” My fear subsided and I told “I am Abel, coming from the earth. I am on my way to Saturn. On the way, my booster engine broke down. All the fuel leaked out. Can you help me? ” \"Yes I can help you. You only have to go to Saturn?\" \"No, I want to see the whole world.\" \"So, shall we go? I am also looking for a company.\" Suddenly he disappeared. When I opened my eyes we both were in a beautiful space ship. It was wonderful inside with so many coloured switches and hi-fi gadgets. I was so excited. 5-4-3-2-1-0 Sh Sh ..... Here we go. We came out like lightning, outside Pluto and yes outside our solar system. We saw the stars shining like the sun. The Titanian told that it is Proxima Centauri a star of triple star system Alpha Centauri. The other two are Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman. He also told proxima is the closest star to the solar system. We rested for a while at Proxima Century B. It was almost like the earth but little bigger. It was an amazing view when we looked outside. There were various types of galaxies, such as elliptical, spiral, and irregular. With a supernova explosion going on nearby, we quickly headed back to the Milkyway. “Titanian, see it’s Kuiper Belt. Isn't that outside of Neptune?” We travelled further, crossing the dwarf planet Pluto and hi moon Sharon. We saw the methane shield of Uranus. Since Jupiter’s gravity is very high we travelled away from Jupiter. We also saw the Anticyclone storm of the Great Red Spot, and it was great sight to our eyes. The Titanian introduced me to Ganymede and Lo, the inhabitants of Jupiter's moons. The red planet Mars was spotted just past the asteroid belt. We saw the Dead Volcanoes and Rock Layers. It was amazing and exactly the same as we see in pictures. I was so much excited. It was really beautiful to see the Earth from space and Titanian told they were planning a journey to Earth. First I was shocked when I heard this since Aliens are a nightmare in all movies but slowly realized that they are very friendly and helpful. We spent a lot of time together and it was time for me to go, so we headed back to Titan. Titanian saw the sadness in me of not being able to go to Saturn. He filled my space ship with fuel and repaired the damages. Saying goodbye to Titanian, Shastra 1 entered into Saturn's Rings and I thought I could find out everything about Saturn right now. Suddenly again there was a jolt and I thought that the engine had malfunctioned again. But…. \"Abel Mon ..... Interesting Christmas facts The term XMAS simply means Christmas; In Greek,Christ begins with letter X. The character of SANTA CLAUS is based on St.Nicholas,a chistian bishop who provided help to the poor and needy. Santa Claus initially wore clothes in green, purple or blue. However Coca Cola decided to dress him up in colours that match their brand and that stuck. This is why he is always in Red Clothes now. 36 million Christmas trees are produced every year. Each Christmas tree takes almost 7-10 years to mature. The cakes we eat during Christmas holidays are known as Plum cakes , but in fact there is no plum in the cake.Raisins were known as Plums in medieval times and the ingredients were stirred in an East to West direction similar to the journey of the three wise men. The biggest Christmas gift was the gift of friendship to US by People of France in the form of \"The statue of Liberty\" in 1886. In Ukraine, if you find a spider web in the house on Christmas morning ,it is believed to be a harbinger of Good luck! UK celebrates Boxing day on the day after Dec 25 so that wealthy people would spend a day boxing the gifts for Poor. There are 2 islands with name Christmas Island; one in the Paciifc ocean earlier known as Kiritimati and other one in Indian Ocean. In the very first times when the tradition of decorating trees for Christmas began, the popular items used for tree decoration were food items like nuts, dates, apples and other fruits. Every year Norway sends a beautiful home grown Christmas ree to London, where it is decorated with lights in Trafalgar Square.Standing a towering 20m tall ,the terrific tree is a gift to say Thankyou for the help UK gave Norway during World War II.
