Harroun’s iron, steel, and wood bring us a beautiful recreation of the 1911 Indy 500 winner in resin. And here’s the best news: though it’s true that the machine was built to endure, and as this DCX-exclusive model was initially envisioned and publicized as a curbside snap of the in-process model shows Replicarz has cap- piece (as many resin models are), Replicarz had a change tured the very feel of that machine and all of its shapes of heart and convinced designer Bob Johnson (of Revell and textures—from the wooden spokes of the wheels and Creative Masters fame) to take the monumental (sandwiched between steel discs) to the car’s namesake, steps required to detail a full engine to place between the hand-formed “wasp” tail. Replicarz’ model is worthy of the car - and it’s a cutting edge piece, itself, offering high detail in 1:18 resin. Carousel Goes ’Round Again More news for Indy fans: In addition to the wonderful Marmon Wasp, Replicarz has purchased the late, lamented Carousel 1’s 1:18 Indy car tooling, so we’ll be seeing re- issues and new releases of some important racers. First across the starting line will be Jimmy Bryan’s 1958 Indy-winning Belond-AP “Laydown” roadster, followed by Rookie of the Year for 1961 Bobby Marshman’s Hoover Motor Express racer. The pre-production samples look amazing, and the models promise to emerge as produced pieces with quality and detail standards equal to, or better than, their original source. We’ve also been made privy to a few tricks that Replicarz has up their sleeves—but Mark and Brian swore us to secrecy for the time being. One thing we’ve learned: don’t tick off a fellow from Vermont. We’ll keep you posted. 58 DCXmag.com
