out of the box by matt boyd T is for Transformation —for Bburago and Maranello Bburago Signature Series Ferrari California T 1:18 | $60 (est) 2015 promises to be the most important year in a generation for Italy’s greatest automotive brand: Ferrari. And it may just be the biggest year ever for another brand with Italian heritage—this one dedicated to slightly smaller automobiles: Bburago. The former is in the process of replacing the engines in its exotic sports and GT machines from the naturally aspirated technological marvels with stratospheric redlines, explosive horsepower, and snarling, shrieking soundtracks that made them among the most visceral—and desirable—engines on the planet, to turbocharging. If you think this isn’t a big deal, consider that the model you see before you—the 2015 California T—is the first turbocharged road car Ferrari has introduced in 28 years—since the fabled F40. Those are big shoes to fill for what amounts to Ferrari’s “entry-level” model; more so because while the turbo motor is new, the California itself has been around since 2008. More T’s are soon to follow, but for now the California T is blazing the trail for force-fed Ferraris. 52 DCXmag.com
