1 Director's Address Today, communication is the keyword and it needs to be valued above all. A majority of people have misunderstood the concept of communication. They are always connected to their gadgets. If we can unplug their devices and plug back into their face to face communication, it will bring a lot of positive changes. Communication facilitates human connections and allows us to learn, grow, and progress in life effectively. As it is rightly said, the best interface is the language of effective leadership. At JU CMS, Toastmasters helps us in achieving the same. I wish the entire team best of luck and encourage them to make Toastmasters contagious. ~Dr. Dinesh Nilkant Director, Center For Management Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be) University

Area Director's Address 2 Every Thursday is one that I look forward to for a whole host of reasons. Number 1, it’s the weekend; time to kick back and retrospect on the week that flew by and prepare for the week ahead. Number 2, being able to visit Jain Speakers Forum's Toastmasters meet. When I walk into a Toastmaster meet from this club, there’s something that always grips me and makes me stay for its entirety. Whether it be their friendly atmosphere, creative speeches or decorations that make any passer-by look inside envious of a club like this. The one thing that really stands out for me with regard to this club is its simplicity and how well it motivates its members to step out of their comfort zone and explore all aspects of being a toastmaster. There are very few clubs that truly bring this sensation and I hope it continues to thrive on this energy for years to come. ~Warm Regards Roshan Chetan

Presidential Address 3 Build a team so strong that no one knows who the boss is!  Initially when I became the President, I didn't know the gravity of the responsibility I was taking upon myself because being a president is a lot more than just hitting the gavel on the desk and declaring the meet open. It is much more than giving a thematic speech at the beginning of every meeting. For the longest of time, I thought that being the President is about leading people and teaching them how to be better. I always thought it was a one-man show, but little did I know that it is the army that matters more. Over time, the situations in which I thought that I would have to teach, I ended up learning, and in times of adversity when I thought I should lead, it was the army that steered our ship out of the storm. Each member of this club contributes their special part towards functioning of our club. Every meet has been like a new page - undiscovered, unread and unique - waiting for us to add on to the legacy written before. I find pride in confidently telling that today, the members of our club lead one of the most successful and most active clubs in Bangalore; on days like these, I find power in the wonders that my army can do. \"Since the firmament evolution, our ~Saanchi Jain. club has evolved from the tiny President Jain Speaker's electron it was back in 1999 to the big bright and raging star of talent it is Forum today, I find myself writing a different definition of leadership. \"

4 From the SAA's Desk As a ritual, every week, we pick up a pretty piece of chart paper and let our creativity take over. We decorate our classrooms with ribbons and pictures and get it set for the meet. But why do we thematically decorate our classes for every meet? Is it just for those aesthetic Instagram pictures? Or is it just to cover plain walls with color? To us, at Jain Speaker's Forum, it is a lot more than just colored papers on plain walls; to us, it is about bonding. Throughout the semester, we have adapted themes like Disneyland, Game Of Thrones, monsoon memories, gaming and Christmas and so on! These themes help our members to find common ground; they act as a prime catalyst in bringing us together. There are days and moments in the club, during meets where we find ourselves becoming one with the theme. On some days we laugh about how none of us have cleared a level of

5 minesweeper and on other days we find ourselves singing that one Disney song we completely forgot about. We find friends in the most unexpected faces, we find ourselves ~Sneha gautam rooting for each other, and at the end SAA, Jain of the day we find ourselves being Speakers Forum more than just another toastmasters club. We find ourselves becoming family and that, my friend, is the magic a theme can create. the theme works when the team bonds

Our Theme 6 -The Editorial Board As humans, surrounded by the bounds of our understanding, we cannot possibly comprehend the concepts of Infinity. We, very well, can define it and explain it to another, but on an assessment of the question of whether or not can humans truly grasp the concept of the never-ending, the answer will always turn out to be negative. The reason for this predicament is because everything that we have perceived so far in life has been defined into boundaries or, to be more precise, tangible boundaries. When it comes to something as abstract as the concept of infinity, there are no boundaries; there is nothing that is tangible. Our very understanding has developed from what we have witnessed in life so far, and never have we come across something as abstract, and hence, are often left perplexed with questions about the infinite. The definition or interaction with the infinite is subjective. It varies from person to person, profession to profession. On probing to people of the field of literature and art, infinity could mean something abstract and intangible; to a mathematician, it is understandable through equations; to an expert of cosmology, the infinity might be simply defined as the universe. This understanding of the infinite or the never-ending is subjective. Our capacity to understand grows, but our curiosity recedes. That is where most of us fall behind in discovering the wonders of something so endless. Our mind develops the capacity to comprehend the boundlessness, but we

7 refuse to sit, research, or even introspect about something that seems so intriguing to us. That is where the theme of this newsletter comes into play. When we sat to think of the name and theme, we thought somewhere along the lines of infinity and decided to combine the two aspects that remind us of boundlessness every day - the sky that is above us and the words underneath us. It was then that we came up with the concept of the Inked Skies. Concepts that together define how we are always between the boundless without even realizing. Inked signifies the expressed or denotative literature that makes up this newsletter. All the event summaries, poetry, prose, quotes, photography, and everything expressed literally by words is a part of the Inked significance, while the Skies, like their openness, signify the allowance of the human mind to run rampant. This newsletter and its theme are our attempt to incite curiosity in the reader's mind and make you, the reader, introspect on the concept of infinity. It is also an encouragement to think beyond bounds and adapt the connotative meaning of 'Inked Skies' in your life; to think of how we, an infinitesimal part of this universe, are surrounded by infinities and hold the capacity to create our infinity through our words. Inked Skies is our way of comprehension and expression. Inked Skies is our way of acknowledging the infinity around us - of words, emotions, inspiration, and all those other elements in abundance. Inked Skies is our Infinity (and beyond!).

Club Events 11 Toastmasters Leadership Institute Integrity, service, respect, and excellence – the core values of Toastmasters International that have been a legacy imbibed into each Toastmaster around the world. TLI 2019 took place on 21 of July 2019, intending to bring the clubs of Divisions A, E, and M together so that they may subsume ideas in their respective clubs, and impart the wisdom they have accumulated over the years as a toastmaster. The first session was about the office bearers, where they were put together according to their respective posts and were given specific questions to discuss. This helped the office bearers understand their posts and adhere to their duties in a better way. After the first session, there was a tea break post which office bearers can attend sessions of their choice, where they get to choose between four electives, namely, Pathways, Enhancing Evaluation, building strong teams, branding protocols and guidelines and the art of attracting and retaining members. Each session was led by a Toastmaster who had experiences in dealing with contentious. The training program is held every six months to encourage planning and growth; help club officers apply the concept of effective leadership to stimulate discussions, enable unification to provide tools for a more practical approach. It is an event to ensure the legacy of Toastmasters thrives.

Toastmasters Installation 12 “Like the morning’s dew, we are new Like a ship’s crew, we are few But bit by bit we will get through Because we promise to be there for you This platform we received in inheritance In its magnificence, it showcases re-emergence With credence in coherence We present to you 'The Maiden Recurrence\" The installation ceremony held on the 3rd and the 4th of August 2019 in Center for Management Studies is a day to honour the newly elected office bearers of 8 Toastmasters Club while also commemorating the old officers who have performed their duties with diligence and zeal. It is a noteworthy day for these 8 clubs because the mantle is passed on to a new team. The theme for this year’s Installation was, 'A Maiden Recurrence’. The maiden speech is the first speech that is delivered by the newly elected council, and therefore, the theme was an appropriate description for the day. Installation Ceremony in CMS is hosted every year and invites contestants to participate in the table topic contest and the tall tales which is a speech contest where participants are expected to present a 3-5 minutes long speech which is highly exaggerated. The first day is reserved for contestants from the college and the shortlisted participants, present on the second day along with external contestants. The winners this time were Mayank who first place in the tall tales contest and Ashay who first place in the table topics contest. The two-day ceremony is an honorable event in CMS and is organised with and aim of holistic development and appreciation and said development.

Emparch 2019 13 Emparch - an event for the colleges, by the colleges - is an initiative taken up by District 92 of Toastmasters International USA to give college students a level playing field in terms of contests. The Final round of Emparch 2019 took place at the Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd campus on the 15th of December 2019 The event saw various young students showcase their talents and creativity in all three types of contests - Presentation Mastery, Humorous Speech Contest, and the Team Tall Tales. Emparch, being a college-level contest, saw participation from colleges in District 92. Each team competed on the club level and the Zonal level before making it to the Finals. The teams showcased a plethora of talent in the field of visual representation, audience engagement, and on-spot thinking caliber. Students from Bengaluru, Mysore, Mangalore, Kochi, Kozhikode came together for the very first time in a ground-shaking and roof-lifting contest where the young champs of District 92 inspired the entire audience with their charm and grit. Presentation Mastery, which was a group event, tested the team's presentation making skills, as well as their ability to manage time. This contest judged the ability of the team to deliver their message in the stipulated time while also ensuring

14 that their content is engaging enough. The Humorous Speech Contest was a light-hearted segment of Emparch wherein the Toastmasters were judged on their ability to make the audience laugh. The goal was to see how well the contestants make the audience forget their woes and worries, and make them focus and relish the present moment. The Team Tall Tale was an amalgamation of Table Topic and Tall Tales. Each team was allotted the topic 24 hours before the contest and was expected to prepare a 5 minute tall tale on the same. This event tested the contestants' ability to function in a team and use the resources at hand. It also put to work each team's wit, humor, and exaggeration skills. Emparch 2019 saw great participation from a large number of colleges, and was, once again, successful in promoting the fundamental principle of Toastmasters - communication. The day ended on a cheerful note with all the teams having performed their voices out, and the District looking forward to seeing even greater participation in their next chapter of Emparch.

that guiding light 15 They say friends are the ones who properly guide you, hence Toastmasters is my guiding light. I entered the stage with a stomach full of butterflies to present my icebreaker. Then I went on to give a thoroughly forgettable speech. At different LALITHA SHREE points in the speech, I grabbed for my next BAJ 1st YEAR line and wandered from one insignificant point to another. I improvised, and surprisingly, I exceeded the time limit. I thought I’d never get back to this place, but something attracted me towards speaking and giving more speeches. Thanks to Jain Speaker's Forum, which helped me fulfill my dreams, helped me discover my identity and uniqueness, and the best in me. I evolved into a more positive person. I started giving speeches every alternative week. It made me feel extremely good about myself. It taught me a special lesson to never give up hope, taught me about appreciating myself and others. This platform has provided me with an opportunity to mark my growth and reach greater heights. It is because of this best friend that my outlook towards life has changed. I have been pushed beyond my limits which have, in turn, made me into a more confident person who is not afraid of facing a crowd anymore. The Corner Quote You cannot teach a man Galileo Galilei anything; you can only help him find it.

mastering the art of public 16 speaking “Somethings always remain new until, you make them your routine”. It was only NISHITHA after I joined CMS that I first heard of BAJ 1st YEAR toastmasters. Public speaking was something that I had been doing since quite some time but nothing had interested me more than what toastmasters did. It took me just an ice breaker to trigger the eagerness to give my name for further speeches .I, being a very loquacious girl has always loved speaking. Be it just a chit-chat or talking for hours together on something that interests me- I've loved it all. Toastmasters was the perfect platform for me to do so. Moreover, letting everyone know about you, showcasing your talent and making friends is not as easy as it sounds, sometimes. When given a stage to speak your heart out with a bunch of people who are all ears to you, it makes socializing a cake walk. Having a set of dedicated mentors makes it all the way better. From knowing what to speak, to structuring it the right way, I improved my speaking skills to a whole new level. Setting a theme to every toastmasters meet adds a punch of fun to it. It spins our creativity in terms of dressing up and helps us join hands together while decorating the class. With Toastmasters being held every week in our club, it makes it the most awaited day of the week. Here's to more speeches and more toastmasters meet. The Corner Quote Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. Ralph Waldo Emerson

the big thing 17 Right from the first meet, my classmates and I approached Toastmasters with a preconceived notion of intrigue and curiosity. Everyone had a general idea of what it was but no one really knew how it was going to function exactly. Nevertheless, we all looked forward to learning more about it with unmatched YUKTA REDDY enthusiasm. Our orientation class had BAJ 1st YEAR just been divided, a few days before the first meet, into our present classes. A lot of people were heartbroken because their friend groups had been divided between the two classes and they had to go through the painful, awkward process of finding new friends again. That’s how Toastmasters saved the day- it was our icebreaker. Our class bonded over making collective decisions every week. From the day we chose our council members to our most recent meet, we’ve only grown closer and more united. The real gems that make every meet shine are our mentors and the council members. The council members involve every single person in the class when deciding the theme, they get everyone to be excited about the theme and make sure that our class looks as extravagant as possible. Our mentors have grown to be our close friends now and without them encouraging us to do better every meet, we could not have gotten over some of the little roadblocks we faced. Toastmasters was the glue that brought our class of 35 different personalities, together every week to plan a meet. I’m happy to say that our enthusiasm for Toastmasters has never dipped since day one, we had 12 speakers in our latest meet. It’s probably because our number one priority has always been fun. Thank you Toastmasters for facilitating us to know each other better and make many, many memories together.

building block 18 \"We cannot become what we want by SNEHA GAUTAM remaining what we are.\" Media is a BAJ 2nd YEAR field that demands the person to be on their toes 24*7 and aptly react to various circumstances. People have a notion that Toastmaster is a platform which only helps in public speaking. However, it has so much more to offer than just that. Personally, Toastmaster has helped me step out of my comfort zone and see beyond the horizon. Professionally, journalism is not only about interacting with people but also how efficiently you listen to their stories and pen it down in such a manner that it leaves an impact on the reader, without hurting anyone's sentiments and also abides by the rules and regulations. Every time I write my speech, I get one step closer to my career objective as it helps me understand the concept of composition of expression. This platform teaches an individual how to build and keep a positive relationship with a person, which again is a very crucial part of the media industry. One has to be very clear with the point of contact and information source in the industry. Being a journalism student, I can state that every word spoken or written holds the power to make or break a particular incident. Every session of a Toastmasters comes with a take-back lesson, whether it is a two minute-table- topic speech or an exercise when you speak off the cuff on a randomly selected topic or a prepared speech. You can learn to present yourself in such a manner that goes perfectly in sync with the content through proper expressions and body language. All the plethora of words boil down to just a simple conclusion that no matter in what field you are or what you want to pursue, Toastmasters is for all, helping every single individual through different facets of professional and personal life.

My change agent 19 To begin with, having one to one MANSI K. PANANI conversation with people was something I BBA 3rd YEAR always loved but to give a speech and share my thoughts in front of a large crowd was nerve-racking for me. When I wrote my first speech, I didn't know what this journey had in store for me. All I knew was that this was out of my comfort zone and so, I hoped for the best result every time I took that one small step towards overcoming my fear. This was the time when I came across two people who were the driving force towards my growth: Mohit Mandani and Rahul Todarwal. The duo who made me realize my latent potential. Every time I took a step towards becoming a better version of myself, I knew I owed it to them. One of the best things that happened to me in this journey was being chosen as a Junior Mentor. Mentoring people allowed me to impact their lives. As each day came, it brought with it immense contentment and growth. Every time I retrospected to my journey of mentoring, my juniors - Harshil Shah, Diksha Bhalla, and Neeraj Bhargav to mention a few - made it memorable and pleasurable. To a journey that made me a better speaker, a mentor, a leader, an empath and most importantly, a better human being. I will always be grateful to Toastmasters International, and forever thankful to a few people I met along the way. The Corner Quote When you're finished changing, you're finished. Benjamin Franklin

The Tea of Success 20 Our generation considers a cup of tea as beneficial as medicine. For some, it's the only relief from a headache and for others, it holds the potential to make up for a bad day. While we've enjoyed preparing, as well as consuming this beautiful beverage, let us take a look at what it takes to prepare the tea of success. HUZEFA HAKIM First comes the water: In preparing the tea of BBA 3rd YEAR success, your experience, and your failure play the role of the water. In the same way that people cannot figure out if the tea is completely made up of water or a secret ingredient, they don’t remember the number of times you have failed when you become successful. Thus, this ingredient makes you cautious and skeptical. Next comes the sugar. Excess of this shall make the tea too sweet and shortage of it will spoil the fun and hence, you must add it in the right quantity. Sometimes, we find some form of harmful adulteration in sugar. The best way to get rid of it is to simply eliminate it. For people who want to be self-made, this is the key ingredient because it is your hard work and commitment that will play the role of sugar and help you climb the ladder. A few elements in this ruthless society would often distract you from your goal in the same way adulterants attempt to spoil the sugar but your job is to ignore them and continue down your trail. Next comes the most important ingredient in the recipe: the tea powder. Among the variety of tea powders available to us, we select the one which has the best aroma, adds the best color to the water, and gives the perfect taste. At every stage of our life, we come across several opportunities. While some prove to be a mistake just like a tea powder of unsuitable quality, the others decide how good your tea will turn out to be. Next is the beautiful secret ingredient of the tea - the milk. When the milk is added, the tea gets a new flavor and colour altogether. Remember the secret ingredient I mentioned? Well, it's your self- confidence. We’ve tried tea at a plethora of place throughout our lives and everywhere it tastes different because of the quantity of milk added in it.

21 Success, similarly, tastes differently depending on what’s your level of self- confidence. Along with milk, we have several add on ingredients like ginger, elaichi, etc. They contribute to the tea by adding different aromas to the tea. These add-on ingredients are the people who you come across in your journey. They may not have an important role to play, but their contribution is always acknowledged at the end with a smile. These people are none other than your friends, peers, mentors or anybody whose words or actions have persuaded you to get out of your comfort zone and believe in yourself. Now, think about what’s missing? It’s the heat. The boiling procedure is the challenge that you face while climbing the ladder of success. These challenges dissolve the sugar completely in the liquid, boils the tea powder perfectly and prepare the two along with the milk to get the perfect output. Hope I’ve made you fall in love with tea and even after this if you don’t like it, it's completely fine. Everything in this world has a substitute and just like tea has a substitute in the form of coffee, so does your choices but remember even the procedure to prepare a coffee is more or less the same. Choices are many. Chances are hardly any. Choose well and your actions shall do the rest. The Corner Quote Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm. Winston Churchill

our confidante 22 MENTOR. According to the oxford dictionary a mentor is- an experienced person who advises and helps somebody with less experience over a period of time. However, this word means so much more to us than just a lousy combination of letters and words. Our mentors have not only been a guiding force but over time have become a lot more than just a person who helps us perfect our speech. The bond between our mentors and us exceeds way beyond the walls of our classroom. Our mentors are our friends they have supported us through the thick and thin of this journey. They have always been very open and welcoming, patient, available, selfless, put our needs before theirs at times and have always made time and burnt their energy for our betterment. They have made the scary process of public speaking an easy one for us by instilling confidence in vigor and zeal in us. It may be Toastmaster Aditya reading our scripts in an extremely detailed manner and giving us suggestions to improve our content, toastmaster Bhavikaa helping us with our pronunciations and voice modulation or Sneha helping us with our eye contact and stage presence we are extremely grateful to our mentors. They are an inspiration to all of us and we truly appreciate all the effort that they have put in to make us bring out the absolute best in us. BBA J 1st SEMESTER

Toastmasters through 23 a parent's eyes When I first heard of the word ‘Toastmasters ‘from my daughter, I didn’t quite know what to expect. It seemed like a gimmick that was just incorporated in her colleges curriculum to get students to speak a bit more, try to help them overcome whatever stage fear they may have and help them to write better. It ~ Mrs. Chaya seemed like a system that fit the (Mother of Anusha.S : corporate world so well. Two and a half BAJ) years down the line, I’m glad to admit that my assumptions were wrong. Toastmasters, for my child Anusha has well and truly transformed her entire demeanour in life. She's more confident, able to talk to the people around her better, able to listen to us just that little bit better and overall, she's improved as a human being. Just to state an example, the other day during a social gathering she struck up conversations with 20-30 different people over the course of the night; this was not something she could have done 3 years ago and yet here she is right now, a calm, confident and able individual made to tackle the world around her. So here's my toast to this brilliant platform that i hope helps everyone who takes it up just as much, if not more than what it did for my child. A toast to toastmasters. The Corner Quote If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living. Gail Sheehy

An Unforgettable Journey 24 Toastmasters International acts as a grooming ground that transforms nervous and under-confident students into competent and confident leaders. I have always found this platform very exciting , a legitimate way of expressing one-self without being judged. I enrolled into toastmaster and gave my ice- Prof. Abhishek Venkateshwar breaker last month and that was an Course Facilitator Faculty Coordinator unforgettable experience. It is a feeling that everyone should experience. My mentor Aravinth Mahesh has explained the pathways concept so well that I have now prioritized that over so many other duties. The best part of Toastmasters is that it teaches you multiple things at one shot like communication skills, time management skills, crisis management skills, and emotional intelligence leading to personality development. I would like to conclude by stating that start the journey of toastmasters and it will be an unforgettable journey of your life. The Corner Quote The way must be in you; the destination also must be in you and not somewhere else in space or time. If that kind of self- transformation is being realized in you, Thích Nhất Hạnh you will arrive.

Guest ad testimonial 25 Every time I got an opportunity to attend E2 Club A meets, I’ve had the chance to learn something new. Whether it was learning a new style of public speaking, or simply the Mubassira Majeed integrity of the club Area Director (A2) members. Firstly, the aura of this club is so positive and encouraging, that it instills the confidence within oneself as though he/she were a born speaker. The club members are so enthusiastic and energetic with every role they take up, that it just boosts your interest and spirit as well. They make you feel important and confident about who you are as an individual, and I don’t know what could be better than that. Secondly, the quality of speeches I’ve heard made me question my beliefs and thoughts, every time I listened to a speaker. The audience is well behaved and extremely encouraging towards the speakers on stage. And it is probably the most important aspect of a Toastmasters Meet: to respect, appreciate and encourage a speaker on stage. Even if it is the Emcee or an Office Bearer. And this club knows how to cherish its people. Each meet has been an amazing experience for me and this club is certainly one of the best college clubs I’ve ever been to. Thank you for having me over and I’m evermore thankful for the respect and warmth I’ve received from this club. The Corner Quote Rumi What you seek is seeking you.

Words from division director 26 They say there is no wrong time to do the right thing. I personally joined Toastmasters after spending almost 12 years in the corporate world and still saw this experience adding a lot of value to my life personally and professionally. I feel the college students who have got this exposure so early in their lives are really fortunate and if leveraged Division 'E' Director properly this experience can give them a ~Mr. Girish Nagpal huge competitive advantage in their lives. I have witnessed this first hand and have seen most student Toastmasters doing really well not just during placements but also becoming super achievers within the early years of their professional lives.Though College clubs add a lot of value, have infectious energy in their meetings but still are the toughest to sustain given the fact that students complete their educational degrees/ programs and move out of the colleges on a regular basis. Hence there is always an outflow and inflow of members and hence a need for continuous training and mentoring. CMS clubs have been able to address these issues so well and the process they follow has ensured that their clubs have been running for many years seamlessly and their clubs, as well as members, perform consistently. CMS has been a case study in itself and an ideal example of how various stakeholders i.e. students, faculty, management and Toastmasters Int’l should work in tandem. For me, it’s been a sheer pleasure to work closely with CMS clubs from my division which was very ably led by the young and resourceful Area Director Roshan Chetan. CMS clubs have been really active in hosting district events and giving their members real-time exposure to organising professional events and honouring their management and leadership skills. Given the efforts put in by all members, club ECs and district officers, I am really glad to share that 100% of CMS clubs are on the verge of achieving Select Distinguished status which is a testimony to their success. I congratulate CMS Toastmasters clubs and all your members on this exemplary success and wish you all the very best for the forthcoming term. “It’s only when you make the process your goal that the big dream can follow.” -Oprah Winfrey

seeking inspiration from 27 district director Dear Toastmasters of CMS College, Raj Kumar Bansal, DTM Hearty congratulations ! You have District Director, District 92 been a star club in the District and been a long standing one as well. Thank you for bringing that energy. When Roshan. the AD , requested me to write a article, I was wondering what would make sense to a student Toastmaster? A few things came to my mind immediately. One, is to understand the mindset of a student. I thought, on one side, you would be happy golucky, carefree and will not have much responsibility to shoulder and would be largely dependent on your parents for your sustenance and education. On the other hand, you would be perhaps anxious about your career, the precarious job market and your future in general. You may have set milestones for yourself - could be becoming a CEO in 10 years time or embarking on a startup adventure. So a student life will entail both these aspects. In this context, let me share my perspective on three areas for you to reflect upon as you march ahead in your career. 1) Be realistic about your own Strengths and Weaknesses. Identify what your strengths are and where you need to improve. You are the best person to make that judgement about yourself. This would help you create a journey on where you would like to see yourself in say 5-10 years. When I was your age, I wanted be a manager in 10 years experience and maybe my own car !!...and when I think, it exactly happened that way. 2) The second aspect I would like to emphasize upon is Multi Skilling. It goes without saying that the more all-round capabilities you possess, the better your chances to thrive in any organisation. To give you an analogy, in cricket, the all-rounders are always in demand They have strength in both batting and bowling.

28 It is difficult to find one, but a good all rounder can make a huge difference! Multi skilling does not mean knowing things in bits and pieces, it means having strong competencies in more than one area. 3) The third aspect I would urge you to focus on is your health. When I say health, I mean both physical and mental health. If you manage to maintain both these, you will be more productive in your career and thrive. Be conscious about what you eat, how much you exercise etc. Today, we do see youngsters in late 20s or even early 30s succumbig to heart problems or getting diabet When you foray into the corporate world, you will have all kinds of temptations from abundant food to what not. So be mindful about your health. You can enrich yourself by doing meditation, running, reading books etc. Although this may sound philosophical, I can say with conviction that these are the things that keep me going. Otherwise I would have got stressed out in my current role. So, Toastmasters as you embark on your corporate journey, see whether you can incorporate these tips in your life and I am sure that if you follow these steps, ten years down the line, you will be able to share your success story. Wish you a very happy career ahead, all the best! Prose and Poetry 31 PERFECT PLACE -Likith Kumar Putting value on status will cause people to compete Hoarding treasures, will turn them to thieves Showing off possessions will disturb their daily life So have open minds & open hearts, be desireless, be content. When action is pure and selfless - everything settles in it’s own perfect place. THE TIDES -Sudarshan Modi The Tides recede, but leaves behind bright sea shells on the sand, The Sun goes down but the gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops but it echoes on in sweet refrains, for every joy that passes something beautiful remains. The clouds collide, and scare the sky, Only to follow a precipice for days. For every step you break through, God himself would pray.

Selenophile 33 -Sampada H. Kumar I think I'm in love with you, and I hate it. I hate how I can only see you when dusk hits the sky, see you only when there's no one around to spy. I mean I can see you when the sun is up in the sky and you look just as beautiful as you did last night and I just want to stop and stare at you look at you, touch you, feel you just as much as I do at night. But people are watching and the last thing I want is a restraining order, or even worse an appointment at NIMHANS. So I go about my day, and you about yours and you are weirdly still on my mind, till I get back home and under the covers, and I lie awake waiting for you to climb up to my 2nd-floor window. And I think of a million things I want to tell you, yet when you are up here all I want to do is just look at you, while you look at me and I dive deeper into your vastness. I remember how I first noticed you. You first followed my car ride home from a restaurant that night, and then followed me to school the day after and just when I thought I'd lost your sight you showed up at my balcony and I just knew it was love that drew you home that night. So that's when I started watching you, You in all your glowing glory, lighting up my face and my room at night. You and those beautiful craters that frame your face and reflect light, You in your majestic phases that change with every sunrise. You gracefully sitting there inspiring art and poetry through the time, because now I get why Audrey sings moon river and Sinatra wants to be flown to the moon on some night so fine. You sitting there 384400 km away listening to the confessions of a  Selenophile. Selenophile- a person who is in love with the moon and stars.
