w.e.pughThroughoutthirty-plusyearspursuingasuccessfulcareerinbroadcasting,W.E.Pughneverlosthisloveofart.Allthetimehewasrunningthoseradiostations,hecontinuedtoexperimentinvariousmediaincludingwatercolor,oil,screenprinting,acrylic,andsculpture.Hisworkhassoldprivatelytocollectorsacrossthecountry.In2004,W.E.committedfulltimetopainting..Bornin1954,underhisgrandmother'sinfluence,heattendedtheZanesvilleArtInstituteinhisOhiohometown,whichsetthestageforhisdream ofbe-cominganartist.PughenteredformalarttrainingatDefianceCollegein1972andayearlaterwasacceptedtotheCentralAcademyofCommercialDesign.HetransferredtotheUniverityofDaytonandmajoredinPerform-ingandVisualArts.AtDayton,hediscoveredradio.Startingasanon-airDJfortheUniversityofDaytoncampusradiostationWVUD,Pughquicklybecameasought-outnationaltalentandwassoonhiredfull-timeinColumbus,Ohio.Overthecourseofhisbroadcastingcareer,Pughevolvedintoanon-airtalent,program direc-torandleaderinAmerica'slargestradiomar-kets. Now,however,Pughhasleftradiotolivefull-timeintheworldofart.Hisfocushasbeenabstractcompositionsinacrylics,buthecontinuestoexperiment,growandevolve,bothasanartistandhumanbeing.PughlivesinCaliforniawithhiswifeLaura.-JoelSelvin2018bio

ArtistStatementMy art has always been my way to reach some sort of balance in life. Theone thing that helps keep me sane. There is something unexplainable aboutthe process; there is a feel, a visualization, and the moment it allcomes together on the canvas. They say that when the soul does what it issupposed to do in life, that is when you reach peace.
