Effects of Radiation for Cancer TreatmentRadiation therapy is one of the most common treatment to cure the cancer. It uses high rangeparticles to destroy the cancer cells. Radiation therapy can be given alone or it can be combinedwith other treatments such as chemotherapy or surgery.Radiation therapy can be given in three different ways as mentioned below:1. External Radiation Therapy : It uses machine that directs high-energy rays from outside thebody into the tumor.2. Internal radiation Therapy : It uses a radioactive source that’s put inside the body in or near thetumor.3. Systemic radiation Therapy : It uses radioactive drugs to treat certain types of cancer. Thesedrugs can be given by mouth or put into a vein; they then travel throughout the body.

Though these radiation therapy is used to destroy the cancer cells, but it also contains radiation sideeffects. Few radiation side effects are as follows:1. Skin problems2. Fatigue In addition to these effects there are certain side effects which occur when the radiation isgiven to the specific area.1. Moutha. Dry mouthb. Nauseac. Swellingd. Tooth decay2. Chesta. Shortness of breathb. Shoulder Stiffnessc. Breast soreness3. Stomach or Abdomena. Nauseab. Diarrhea
