Zero Conditional Sentences หรอื If clause type 0 เป็นประโยคเง่ือนไขทเ่ี ราจะพูดถึงความเป็นจริงทัว่ ๆ ไป ขอ้ เทจ็ จรงิ ทางวทิ ยาศาสตร์ รวมไปถึงเหตุการณ์ทเ่ี กิดขน้ึ เสมอภายใตเ้ งือ่ นไขท่แี นน่ อน (เกิดขึ้นเปน็ ประจา) ใชใ้ นเหตกุ ารณ์ท่เี มอ่ื มี สงิ่ นน้ั เกิดขน้ึ ตอ้ งมีสิ่งนี้เกิดขนึ้ เช่น * If you heat ice, it melts. (ถ้าคุณใหค้ วามรอ้ นกับน้าแข็ง มนั ละลาย) จากประโยคตวั อยา่ งจะเหน็ ว่าท้งั ประโยคใน if-clause (ประโยคท่มี คี าว่า if ขึ้นต้น) และประโยคใน main clause กริยาทตี่ ามประธานเป็นกรยิ าช่องท่ี 1 ดังน้ัน จะสามารถสรปุ โครงสรา้ ง ได้ ดังนี้ If + S + V1, S + V1 นอกจากนี้ โครงสรา้ งประโยค Conditionals นนั้ ตาแหน่งของ if สามารถอยตู่ รง กลางไดเ้ ช่นกัน เราก็จะสรุปโครงสร้างเม่ือ if อยูต่ รงกลางประโยคได้ ดังนี้ S + V1 if S + V1 เช่น Ice melts if you heat it. (น้าแข็งละลายถ้าคณุ ใหค้ วามรอ้ นกบั มัน)
