SCIENCE PROJECT
ABSTRACT •Internet research on management of crop production practices employed in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya
AIM •To know the differences and similarities in techniques of crop production in Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
INTRODUCTION • There are different techniques of each states depending upon the soil, seeds, tools etc. On the other hand there are many similarities also in food eaten in these states and some techniques are also same.
WHAT IS CROP MANAGEMENT • The group of agricultural practices used to improve the growth, development, and yield of agriculture is known as crop management. • Crop production Crop production is the branch of agriculture that deals with the production of crops for food and fiber.
AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES ➢Preparation of soil ➢Sowing ➢Adding manure and fertillisers ➢Irrigation ➢Protecting from weeds ➢Har vesting ➢Storage
UTTAR PRADESH • In Uttar Pradesh the irrigated area is over 73% and the cropping intensity is 153%.The major crops of the state are rise, wheat, maize, sugarcane, chickpea and pigeonpea. The foodgrains production constraints are declining soil health due to multi-nutrient deficiencies, soil salinity/alkalinity and low input use efficiency. People use canal irrigation in this state.
CROPS GROWN IN UTTAR PRADESH • Pulses = Kharif crop • Oilseeds = Rabi crop • Sugarcane = Rabi crop .Millet = Kharif crop
ARUNACHAL PRADESH • Agriculture primarily drives the economy, Arunachal Pradesh has close to 61,000 square km of forests, and forests products are the next most significant sector of the economy. Jhum cultivation is the primitive form of soil utilization. It is an age old system of agriculture among the different tribes of arunachal pradesh. People use drip irrigation in this area.
CROPS GROWN IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH • Rice = Kharif crops • Ginger = Kharif crop • Oilseeds = Rabi crop • Sugarcane = Rabi crop
MEGHALAYA • The shifting cultivation and terrace agriculture are two major farming systems, prevalent in Meghalaya. Tree based farming practices are also prevalent in the state. The crops are grown in association with tree. Shifting cultivation is practised widely in hilly regions of meghalaya. Local farmers first select a piece of land in the forest. Then trees or bushes are cut down, left to dry and burnt. Then in the cleared area, the seeds are broadcast without the use of ploughs. Bamboo irrigation is used in this state.
CROPS GROWN IN MEGHALAYA • Potatoes = Rabi crop • Maize = Kharif crop • Rice = Kharif crop • Spices
SIMILARITIES • Jhum cultivation is practiced in all these states (Uttar pradesh, arunachal pradesh, meghalaya) which is also know as shifting cultivation. • Maize, oilseed, etc are the main crops grown in these states.

CONCLUSION • In all the states (Uttar pradesh, Arunachal pradesh and meghalaya) jhum cultivation is practiced in all th states and many same kind of crops are grown in these states. Every state has different practices of crop production and management also all states have different area for crop production .
