One of the major changes this year is our swap over to Matthew Clark. This will be an improvement in many areas including a better availability and wider range of products and of course, moving back to one delivery which I know a lot of you will be very happy about. Christmas is just around the corner and the industry has a very promising lead in to the festive period with the largest football competition starting in November. HELLO FROM BENJAMIN The month of October brings with it some exciting changes. We acknowledge just how challenging the past few months have been following supply chain issues and were unwilling to continue with Marston’s. The switch to Matthew Clark sees a welcome return to the single weekly delivery and more competitive small pack pricing. Yet the biggest opportunity is the new brands we can offer. A huge thank you for the information you have provided to the team via the pricing surveys. This has allowed us to map your brand line-up and when combined with your volumes gives a GP figure per brand. Shifting our support to the next level we have spent a large amount of time looking at the demographics for your pub to suggest the ideal brand line up which will help you increase your cash margin at a much-needed time. Our priority is to improve the levels of support we provide to you and as such we will embarking on a 6-month Pub Partner survey so we can better understand what support your business would benefit from. Over the coming weeks we will working on providing greater levels of purchasing power with the help of Neil Musson – Head of Purchasing. Looking ahead we have a great opportunity to ride on of service, creating packages to drive SPH, promote pre- the wave of good feeling with the World Cup – hot on game drinks but more importantly having a celebratory the heels of the Women’s Euro success. Setting yourselves up for success over a busy festive period requires careful planning to ensure you deliver a great experience and are focused on driving SPH via your menu’s, specials, packages, pre-orders and team. Finally, just a quick reminder that we have paid for every pub to become a member of the BII. The BII provide fantastic services and have a great wealth of knowledge, contacts and content that you will be able to benefit from. Have a great end to the year! 03 ISSUE 09 / OCT - DEC 2022

For busy evenings, I will always push guests to either a 6pm – 8pm slot or 8:15 – close slot and lunchtimes either 12pm or 3pm. That way, you automatically have two turns. Depending on numbers and the size of your pubs, I would also encourage guests from the earlier slot to stay but just enjoy more drinks in the bar area. NEW PARTNERS burnaby arms, bedford We’d like to give a warm welcome to Nick and Salv who are the new landlords at community pub The Burnaby Arms in Bedford. Situated just outside the town of Bedford, The Burnaby is a well-known, familiar favourite and last night’s opening proved the pub hasn’t lost its popularity. The team will be hosting regular activities including quiz nights and are serving a great range of wines, spirits and of course, the freshest of Brewpoint beers and cask ales brewed just one mile down the road. Emma Miller, Retail Marketing Manager for Pub Partners at Wells & Co. said, “We’re so pleased the Burnaby Arms in Bedford has reopened.
