If I should die before the rest of you, Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone. Nor, when I’m gone, speak in a Sunday voice, But be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must, Parting is hell. But life goes on, So........ sing as well.

A very active AKORA of the 1963 year group of Achimota School. My final years could be encapsulated in one sentence. “she was an upright citizen of the Peduase enclave”, where I presently reside. I figure that everyone here knows me or knows of me, otherwise you would not be here, so I need not go further into who I am and what I have done or not done. As Shakespeare said, the good one does is oft interred with their bones, but the evil lives on after them. I hope I have done more good than evil on this planet and will be remebered for those. Where I have offended and erred, may the parties at the receiving end forgive me, and may God also forgive me. Hymns Nor find Thee to frail; Thy mercies how tender, MHB 8 How firm to the end, O WORSHIP the King, Our Maker, defender, All glorious above; Redeemer, and Friend ! O gratefully sing His power and His love: O measureless Might ! Our shield and defender, Ineffable Love ! The ancient of days, While angles delight Pavilioned in splendour, To hymn Thee above, And girded with praise. The humbler creation, Though feeble their lays, O tell of His might, With true adoration O sing of His grace, Shall lisp to Thy praise. Amen. Whose canopy space; His chariots of wrath MHB 76 The deep thunder-clouds form, THE King of love my Shepherd is, And dark is His path Whose goodness faileth never; On the wings of the storm. I nothing lack if I am His And He is mine for ever. The earth with its store Of wonders untold, Where streams of living water flow Almighty ! Thy power My ransomed soul He leadeth, Hath founded of old, And where the verdant pastures grow Hath stablished it fast With food celestial feedeth. By a changeless decree, And round it hath cast, Perverse and foolish oft I strayed; Like a mantle, the sea. But yet in love He sought me, And on His shoulder gently laid, Thy bountiful care And home rejoicing brought me. What tongue can recite ? It breathes in the air, In death’s dark vale I fear no ill It shines in the light, With Thee, dear Lord, beside me; It streams from the hills, Thy rod and staff my comfort still, It descends to the plain, They Cross before to guide me. And sweetly distils In the dew and the rain. Thou spead’st a table in my sight; Frail children of dust, And feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, 10 | Yaa Achiaa Agyeman Dei
Thy unction grace bestoweth; Hymns And O what transport of delight From Thy pure chalice floweth! Crown Him the Lord of love ; Behold His hands and side. And so through all the length of days Those wounds, yet visible above, Thy goodness faileth never; In beauty glorified : Good shepherd, may I sing Thy praise All hail, Redeemer, hail ! Within Thy house for ever! Amen. For Thou hast died for me : Thy praise and glory shall not fail MHB 271 Throughout eternity. Amen. CROWN Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne ; MHB 272 Hark ! how the heavenly anthem drowns JESUS shall reign where’er the sun All music but its own : Doth his successive journeys run ; Awake, my soul, and sing His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Of Him who died for thee, Till suns shall rise and set no more. And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity. For Him shall endless prayer be made, And praises throng to crown His head ; Crown Him the Lord of life, His name like sweet perfume shall rise Who triumphed o’er the grave, With every morning sacrifice. And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save ; people and realms of every tongue His glories now we sing Dwell on His love with sweetest song ; Who died, and rose on high, And infant voices shall proclaim Who died-eternal life to bring, Their young hosanna to His name. And lives, that death may die. Blessings abound where’er He reigns ; Crown Him the Lord of peace, The prisoner leaps to lose his chains ; Whose power a scepter sways The weary find eternal rest ; From pole to pole, that wars may cease, And all the sons of want are blest. And all be prayer and praise : His reign shall know no end, Where He displays His healing power, And round His pierced feet Death and the curse are known no more; Fair flowers of paradise extend In Him the tribes of Adam boast Their fragrance ever sweet. More blessings than their father lost. Yaa Achiaa Agyeman Dei | 11

Which Thou hast set before us, Hymns And if Thou count us worthy, We each, as dying Stephen, Breathe through the heats of our desire Shall see Thee stand Thy coolness and Thy balm; At God’s right hand Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; To take us up to heaven. DEAR Lord and Father of mankind, Forgive our foolish ways; MHB 428 Reclothe us in our rightful mind; I’ll praise my Maker while I’ve breath; In purer lives thy service find, And when my voice is lost in death, In deeper reverence, praise. Praise shall employ my nobler powers; My days of praise shall ne’er be past, In simple trust like theirs who heard, While life, and thought, and being last, Beside the Syrian sea, Or immortality endures. The gracious calling of the Lord, Let us, like them, without a word Happy the man whose soul rely Rise up and follow Thee. On Israel’s God! He made the sky, And earth, and sea, with all their train: O Sabbath rest by Galilee! His truth for ever stands secure; O calm of hills above, He saves the oppressed, He feeds the poor, Where Jesus knelt to share with thee And none shall find His promise vain. The silence of eternity, Interpreted by love! The Lord pours eyesight on the blind; The Lord supports the fainting mind; With that deep hush subduing all He sends the labouring conscience peace; Our words and works that drown He helps the stranger in distress, The tender whisper of Thy call, The widow and the fatherless, As noiseless let Thy blessing fall And grants the prisoner sweet release. As fell thy manna down. I’ll praise Him while He leads me breath; Drop Thy still dews of quietness, And when my voice is lost in death, Till all our strivings cease; Praise shall employ my nobler powers; Take from our souls the strain an stress, My days of praise shall ne’er be past, And let our ordered lives confess Or immortality endures.
