TANKER CONFERENCE Wednesday, 16th November 2022, Atlantis The Palm, Dubai UAE Clive Woodbridge Conference Chairman & Editor The Maritime Standard This is a critical time for the global tanker shipping business. Building back con dence after two years of being impacted by the pandemic, it has in recent months been wrestling with a high degree of volatility as a result of geopolitical developments and uncertain macro-economic forecasts. Many tanker operators have seen record breaking highs in 2022, but there is a huge amount of uncertainty as to how long this will last and whether a downward cycle is on the horizon. The Maritime Standard ( TMS ) Tanker Conference is a chance to take stock of the current state of the crude oil, chemical, products, and gas trades and to do some crystal ball gazing as to likely future patterns and trends. In addition, tanker operators face the ongoing challenge of gearing their eets to meet tough new environmental regulations, both in force now and in decades to come, and the drive to decarbonise operations. This is creating some signi cant operational and technological challenges for tanker owners and operators which are certain to feature prominently at the Tanker Conference discussions. Holding the TMS Tanker Conference would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and partners: ADNOC Logistics & Services, AD Ports Group, Lloyd’s Register, Bahri, DP World, Saifee Ship Spare Parts & Chandlers, JOME Engineering, ASYAD Shipping & Drydock Services, DNV, Shell Marine, Al Sa na Security, Inchcape Shipping Services, ASCA Maritime, SunRui Maritime Environment Engineering Company Ltd, Seamaster Maritime, Fast Freight, Bureau Veritas, Adamallys Marine, MariApps Marine Solutions, and International Shipping & Logistics. Their backing is hugely valued. We have tried our best to make the conference, and the topics that will be covered today, relevant and well-timed. Once again, though, what makes this conference special is the quality of the speakers that have been lined up. All are renowned leaders in their respective spheres of activity and are giving their time to give you the bene t of their knowledge and experience. I would like to thank them in advance for their contributions. We have structured the conference and chosen relevant and thought-provoking topics to generate plenty of discussion and leave attendees with fresh ideas and solutions, as well as greater clarity about the short and medium term future of the tanker sector. Please take an active part in today’s proceedings, asking questions and making your own observations. We hope you enjoy the day and TMS looks forward to welcoming you back in 2023.
