THE MARITIME STANDARD YOUNG PERSON IN SHIPPING AWARDED TO EDUARDO FONSECA Eduardo Fonseca Ambassador Republic of Panama to the United Arab Emirates Eduardo Fonseca has been Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the United Arab Emirates since 2015. In that role he has had a signi cant in uence in deepening maritime relations between the two counties. At the same time Eduardo has had a non-resident posting as the rst Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Eduardo organised the Panama Invest event in Dubai with Panama’s President as a keynote speaker and as Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) coordinated the implementation of the rst Renewables Readiness Assessment (RRA) in Latin America in support of the Clean Energy Corridor of Central America (CECCA). Before being appointed Ambassador, Eduardo was Consul General of the Republic of Panama to the UAE and in that capacity was responsible for the administration of the consular, political and economic a airs of the Republic of Panama in the country. Anoop Kumar Sharma Chairman & MD The Shipping Corporation of India Captain Anoop Kumar Sharma is the Chairman and Managing Director of The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI). Prior to his current appointment, he was the Managing Director of Essar Shipping Ltd (ESL). Capt. Sharma is also President of Indian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) and Director on the Board of Indian Register of Shipping. In addition he serves as Vice Chairman of ICS (London) Mumbai Branch, and is a member of the Services Export Promotion Council, the South East Asian Committee of DNV-GL, the South Asia Advisory Committee of Lloyds Register and the Class NK (India) committee. Capt. Anoop Sharma has served the shipping industry for over 34 years at various levels. He started his career with T.S. Rajendra, after which he joined SCI in 1982. At SCI, after a successful period at sea, obtaining command, he moved to an onshore role in 1992 as a Technical Superintendent.
