His name was Ken Christyand he was someone I, met over twentyyears ago when we met through commu‐nity events that we both worked on. Kenworked many years for the Post Office inAurora and, many people may know himfrom his service on the West Side of thecity that was his route. Every day Kenwould go to the post office get ready forhis day on the mail route to see his manyfriends. Ken also was a devoted fatherand was married to his wonderful wifeBonnie for over 40 years. Bonnie andKen always found time to dedicate theirfree time to helping the community theyloved so much. Ken and Bonnie wherevery involved in the local foodpantry ,organizing every year the PostOffices regional food pantry drive thatalso included Montgomery and Oswegobranches that collected food to serve theless fortunate. Ken served as a leader inthe labor movement as well as irst at thePresident of his Aurora Local and thenas State President for the Illinois Associ‐ation of Letter Carriers. Ken fought forthe working families and their free rightto be heard. Ken spent countless hours aswell coaching little league baseball, andserving on numerous committees thathelped to make the daily lives of the resi‐dents of Aurora better. Ken was a man ofmany accomplishments most recentlyserving as Aurora Township Clerk elect‐ed a few years back.What I, ind to be Kens greatest accom‐plishment is that of being a friend andfather and husband. Ken was a devotedfather and loved his grandkids alwaysbeaming about their accomplishmentsno matter how small or large his top pri‐ory was always to his wonderful familyand his wife Bonnie. As a friend Ken wasalways there if you needed support oradvice he would take time from his busyschedule traveling on behalf of the Illi‐nois Association of Letter Carriers andreturn calls because he thought it wasimportant to maintain contact and seewhere he could be of help. I will alwaysappreciate Ken and his family for show‐ing my family so much kindness when I,lost some loved ones. Ken would call ev‐ery other day and see if I, needed any‐thing.
