Mexico couple found with body parts could have killed 20By BBC NewsPolice in Mexico are investigating a couple arrested for transporting body parts in a pram in connectionwith at least 10 murders At hearing following his arrest, the man reportedly confessed to killing 20 women in a suburbof Mexico City. Investigators have found body parts in the couple’s flat and at another nearby property. Theywere kept in buckets filled with cement and in a fridge. Prosecutors say the couple sold the body partsbut it is not clear to whom. Femicides, murders of women, are common in Mexico and often go unpunished, but the gruesomedetails of this case have caused outrage and triggered street protest in Ecatepec, the poor suburb inMexico state where they occurred.‘Victim’s baby sold ’ Neighbors said that whether they saw the couple they were pushing the pram in which police foundthe body parts. Police stopped and searched them after disappearance in September of a local woman, 28-year-old Nancy Huitron and her two-month old baby, Valentina. In the hearing, the accused, whose name has been giving us Juan Carlos, confessed to killingMs Huitron and identified two other of his victims as 23-year-old Alert Olguin and 29-year-old EvelynRojas. Prosecutors say he also confessed to sexually abusing some of the victims before killing themand selling off their belongings and some of their body parts. The three victims, all of them single mothers, had disappear in recent months. Ms Huitron disappeared on 6 September with her baby after dropping her two older daughters offat school when the two older girls were not picked up from school, a neighbor raised the alarm. Policehave found baby Valentina who, they say, was sold by the couple. She has since been handed to hermaternal grandmother.Impunity Investigators say the women knew Juan Carlos and is partner, Patricia, from buying clothes andfood from them. According to investigators, Patricia tricked them into the property by saying she had moremerchandise for them to view there. Police said that when he was arrested, Juan Carlos asked the officers whether he could showerand put on a suit before being paraded before the media “because I’m not a dirty criminal.” Mexico state is the region with the highest number of disappeared women in the country. BetweenJanuary and April of this year, 395 people disappeared in Mexico state, of which 207 were women. The disappearances are mostly concentrated in violent areas where gangs often are in controland police fear to go.Resource: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-45791820

Week 5Title: Mexico couple found with body parts could have killed 20Author: BBC NewsSource: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-45791820SummaryThe police found a couple with body parts, the man confessed thathe kill one woman and two children. The story begun with the woman(Ms Huitron) dropped their children off at school in the morningand after school the children were not picked up, so her neighborsheard the news and filed with police. After six months heard thenews that she was killed also with her children and their belongingsand body parts were sold. The situation like this always happensin Mexico, most of victims were women. My reaction/reflectionThis situation always happens with no alarm, especially with womenand children. They must keep themselves safe and watch out thestrange people who would come around any time when they go outside. In some country this kind of situation is difficult to avoid (likeMexico), so they often heard the news of people lost every day. InThailand in past many years, there was a kidnap gangs spread overthe country. Children 3-5 years old were always heard the news ofkidnap or disappear. It is one of the most serious problem ofevery country that women and children were abused and killed. Thegovernment should provide strictly rules and punishment tocriminals.
