by Vivaan Rupani Grade 7 A Russia and Ukraine are 2 neighboring countries that have a lot of history such as Russia imposing laws on Ukraine such as banning the Ukrainian language, they were 1 country following Ukraine leaving Russia in 1991. Although abandoning the Ukrainian language is something that happened a long time ago and it is certainly not the reason for Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, The war did not currently start it started back in 2014 following the Ukrainian revolution of dignity in which Russia and Ukraine fought over Donbas and Crimea, the reason of the full scale invasion today is because of an organization known as NATO. NATO-Formed in 1949 with the signing of the Washington Treaty, NATO is a security alliance of 30 countries from North America and Europe. NATO's fundamental goal is to safeguard the Allies' freedom and security by political and military means, Russia is an early enemy of NATO and had forbidden Ukraine from joining NATO as it is a country near RUSSIA, UKRAINE did not agree to RUSSIA resulting in the full-scale invasion (February 24, 2022). This is put shortly in the paragraph excluding the brief explanation.
By Anuva Dwibedy Grade 11 Sci Name of the book: The Scarlet letter. Genre: historical romance, dystopian fiction My Ratings: 3.5/5 Hello readers! Today I am going to tell you about a framed narrative, “A story within a story” This story explores the world of dark romanticism and dystopian fiction set in the 17th century. The novel opens as the author embodies himself as a nameless narrator who works as a custom’s officer in Massachusetts, USA. After gaining interest in the local history through his mysterious finding, he decides to pen down what we know of today as the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
After the autobiographical introduction at the Custom’s House the stage opens to the characters of the story, Hester Prynne; the protagonist, Chillingworth; her husband, Arthur Dimmesdale; a puritan minister and her daughter, Pearl. The story begins with Hester being publicly disgraced by the community for committing adultery and having an illegitimate child. As the story proceeds, she deals with the conflict between the two men in her life, her husband and her lover. She learns the dark truth of their failures, emotional responsibilities and her own sinful nature. This cultural classic is full of intense symbolism and a clear cinematic vision. Hawthorne describes it as a ‘tale of human frailty and sorrow’. His understanding of emotions is quite modern and profound which draws our attention to ‘the price paid for the loss of love’. Considering the era in which this book was written, the character of Hester Prynne is a very carefully crafted work since Hawthorne successfully makes her passion noble, defiance heart-breaking and frailty inspiring. Personally, I found the plot very captivating. The development of each character adds dimensions to the central idea. The language and writing style can make this slow paced read quite taxing for some readers. I read this for a school assignment but eventually ended up enjoying the plot. This story of love and revenge became quite revolutionary in the then newly formed American society as it became one of the first mass produced novels in America. It is still spoken of as Hawthorne’s best works due to its indefinable purity and lightness of conception.

“Connected” - Yet so “Disconnected…..” by Mahesh Jain, Teacher TSS Illustrated Yuvika Pandey Grade 4 C This thought came to mind while traveling on the train, it's about one incident where I saw two friends talking to each other and being very happy about how things are going ahead. Till now it's was all fine, what was different was that both of them were wearing headphones, probably they were listening to songs, or the songs were just playing as now a days remaining peaceful and quiet is not easy amongst all the chaos, and they were also talking to each other and if that's not sufficient i could see from my place that they were also busy on their phone on the Instagram. So a question: do we say they are multitasking? Think about it. OR They are just occupied with different things and don't know exactly what they are missing? This is the situation of one pair of friends talking, listening and Instagramming at the same time. What they are missing I feel is the real connection. They are connected, they feel but they are actually disconnected, neither they are listening to songs properly nor they are talking to one another with full attention. This is what is happening with all of us connecting and giving attention, i.e 100% attention to one task has become very difficult. We are watching movies and at the same time we are swiping the next page on the stream and then we say that the movie is not that great. It's a mixed world and attention to
detail is slowly depleting and the person who gives attention to detail and comes up with the idea becomes an entrepreneur. We have so much yet we are in search of something else, as we will never be satisfied with what we have. That's not wrong but how about appreciating the things which we have, connecting to nature, talking to friends and family with 100% attention because not all of us have all of this, so let not take it for granted. One major mobile company came up with the advertisement saying “Disconnect to Connect” A mobile company came up with such an ad asking the people to disconnect from mobile so that they can connect with each other and nature. Then why can't we do it. Let's take the message and let's connect in the true sense because the most important thing is the connection you make with others. Remember the old days when you had eye contact during a conversation? When wasn’t everyone looking down at a device in their hands? We've become so focused on that tiny screen that we forget the big picture, the people right in front of us. — Regina Brett So are you Connected ? OR Connected yet so Disconnected?
