ATTRIBUTESCreating AttributesAttributes are used to denote size, color, etc. on a product. An attribute can be reusedacross different products if the attribute options are identical. It may be best to createdifferent attributes for similar products because if you want to change the attribute it willaffect all products that it is assigned to. Go to Catalog -> Attributes - >Manage Attributes Add New Attribute Preface the attribute code with ‘UDI’ Change the following settings: o Scope: Global o Catalog Input Type for Store Owner: Dropdown o Use To Create Configurable Product: Yes Click Manage Label/Options In Manage Titles enter the label for the attribute under admin (leave rest blank) In Manage Options, add a row for each attribute option under admin (leave rest blank). If you want to change the order, enter numbers in the last column called “position”Creating Attribute SetsAttribute Sets are used to create a matrix by linking multiple attributes together. An attributecan be in an unlimited amount of different sets. Each product then is assigned to anattribute set to create the product matrix. It is possible to duplicate an existing attribute setand change one or multiple attributes for a different product. It is not possible to change theattribute set of a product once the product has been created. Go to Catalog -> Attributes - >Manage Attribute Sets Click add new set Preface the attribute code with ‘UDI’ Select an existing set to base the new set on Click save attribute set Drag and drop the attributes you would like to use in the set from the 3rd column to the 2nd column starting under “is_imported”. TROUBLE-SHOOTINGHi Ari,Eric and I ran into an issue today while working on the Whelan Magento site….hopefullyyou will be able to help us. Eric created the 74003 Product using the attribute set“udi_74003KHAKI”. We looked at the attributes sets used for pants and determined that theattributes should be in the following order:-Color-Waist-Length/Inseam We did this for theudi_74003KHAKI attribute set but it does not look how we want (a Matrix of waistsize/inseam with a drop down for color choice) on the front end.Do you know what we aredoing wrong?Thank you! EricaHi Erica/EricAll you need to do is go to the configurable product and click associated products on the leftside. Then, in the super product attributes configuration, rearrange (by dragging) the attributes byputting the attribute you want on the vertical axis first, the horizontal axis second, and thedrop down third. After saving, you should be good to go. Please add this to thedocumentation when you have a moment.Ari 8
