Message of Editor Greetings, By the grace of Allah (SWT), I have got the post which will lead me towards new experience and life lesson. The days of yester- days and the days of tomorrows in the club are the days of learning. Message of Rotary President Rotary and Rotaract are partners in action. Rotary was formed in 1905 and Rotaract in 1968 to give the strength and vigor to the Rotary movement. Rotaractors is our positive youth. While our young generations are spoiling their time and energy in idle works, Rotaractors are trying to make some positive changes in our society by doing good works-feeding the poor, educating the underprivileged, distributing cloths and blankets, supplying pure water, support- ing sanitation, combating the diseases, protecting the environ- ment etc At the same time, they also take care of themselves- they imbibe human qualities, are keen about their career, develop organizational skill,s and grow leadership attributes. Since I don't know the direction, I was thinking what can I do now. I remembered, what if I ask some rotarac- tors on that city. Through Facebook, managed to contact few rotaractor from Moulvibazar club and they helped to plan my route. This is the best thing in rotarty. Its branch is so comprehensive that, you can find a rotaractor almost anywhere in theworld. People who involve in rotary, already prove themselves as a selfless, friendly, respectful. When you make friendship with a rotaractor, though you guys are friend, still one respect other, talk mannerly. That’s the beauty of rotary. It makes friendship beautiful than ever. The expand net- work of rotary can help anyone to reach any kind of people. You need to learn certain skill? Do little research and you'll defi- nitely get someone to teach you.People in rotary helps the community, the society to make a better position. We all should try to be a better person and make this world a better place. 06

International Corner “Former refugees help recent defectors adapt to South Korea” by Seoha Lee The Rotary Club of Ulsan Freedom is active in serving its community along with other local clubs. In addition to supporting new immigrants and helping them acclimate, members work with a local orphanage to help the staff care for children. On holidays like Chuseok (Thanksgiving), Seollnal (New Year’s Day), and Christmas, the club invites North Korean immi- grants and local low-income families to share foods and presents, wear holiday costumes, and enjoy time together in order to ease the feeling of alienation and create a sense of belonging. “We call ourselves ‘unification already in existence,’” Ju Eun Seok says. “We believe our activities will make it easier for the people of the South to accept people from the North without prejudice, and the people from the North will feel that they can be accepted, as they see us serving as proud members of the community.” Seok’s club is one of many working to make the transition for immigrants a positive experience. Rotary clubs in South Korea have long supported defectors from North Korea in a variety of ways — by building schools for youth, offering scholarships, and providing free health checks and dental care. During the pandemic, five clubs (Ulsan-Dongbu, Ulsan-Jeil, Ulsan-Namsan, Ulsan-Muryong, Ulsan Freedom) have delivered quaran- tine kits to 580 North Korean immigrants in the Ulsan area. With help from people like Seok and their Rotary clubs, lives continue to be transformed08 for good. 07
