Dear All,We take pleasure in presenting to you the fth issue ofour newsletter ‘The Buzz About Us’.Through our last issues we have tried to cover all eventsacross our of ces in India and Nepal as well as all ournew environmental and business initiatives. The Veterans Club10 YEARS AND COUNTINGWe owe much of our success to the resilience and formidable strength of the Veterans Club of Saraf Hotel Enterprises. These employees have been with our company for 10 years or more, weathering the storms and riding the highs through their journey with us. With theirability to shoulder immense responsibility, provide unending support and their never-say-die attitude they have proved time and again that they are the true stalwarts of this Company.
Mr. Shekhar RanaMr. Shekar Rana has been a part of Saraf Hotel Enterprises foralmost 40 years. He started his career at Yak & Yeti, Kathmandu inSeptember 1977 as an Assistant in the Finance department and wasthen promoted to Financial Controller. In 1996 he was transferredto a new property which was purchased in Kathmandu which laterbecame the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. This property becamepartially operational in 2000 and was inaugurated by the then KingBirendra in 2001. Mr. Rana is very impressed with the growth of theCompany over the years. He says, “We started with one property,Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu, and we have grown exponentiallyover the years. We can now boast of several properties across Indiaand Nepal and that is de�initely something to be proud about.”According to him the Saraf’s are very hardworking people and hehas enjoys working with Mr. Arun Saraf and the Saraf group as awhole.Mr. Suresh KatochMr. Suresh Katoch joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises in March 1989 atthe Corporate of�ice in Delhi, assisting the Executive/ManagingDirector and Chairman of the company. For him, it has been a greatexperience working with the group. He says, “there is a sense ofpride in having served a company of repute, which has been acatalyst in the growth of the hotel industry in India and Nepal. Theyears spent in this group, as on date, have been exciting, enrichingand memorable. To have been part of that journey has been aful�illing experience. I feel proud and truly blessed that I had theopportunity to work with and be associated with outstandingpersons in this group. I consider it my privilege to have interactedwith these persons which helped enrich my knowledge. Through-out his tenure with the Company the top management has alwaysbeen accessible and transparent and takes utmost care of theirstaff. “This is what makes for a great work environment”, he says.
Mr. Suresh AgarwalMr. Suresh Agarwal joined Hotel Yak & Yeti Kathmandu in the�inance department where he worked for 12 years before moving toGrand Hyatt Mumbai in January 2004. Over the years Mr. Agarwalhas gained a lot of experience and learnt a lot not just professional-ly but personally as well. He has developed a close rapport withof�ices in Nepal and Mumbai. According to Mr. Agarwal, “the bestthing about working with Saraf Hotel Enterprises is the excellentwork environment.” He adds that he is very closely associated withthe owners and has no issues performing his work. Mr. Agarwal iscurrently the VP-Operations at Juniper Hotels Pvt. Ltd.Mr. Bimal Kr. JhunjhunwalaMr. Bimal Kr. Jhunjhunwala joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises in April1994 as a Financial Controller cum Company Secretary at UnisonHotels Ltd., New Delhi. In 1997, Mr. Jhunjhunwala moved to JuniperHotels Pvt. Ltd. (erstwhile Seajuli Property & Viniyog Ltd.) in theGrand Hyatt Mumbai Project and was working therein since 2007as a Company Secretary. He later moved to Delhi for few monthsand was closely involved in the demerger of Asian Hotels Ltd. Mr.Jhunjhunwala says that he has had a wonderful experience workingwith Saraf Hotel Enterprises over the years and feels proud to beassociated with this pioneering group in the Hotel Industry. He haslearnt a lot from the people around him and still feels that there isso much more to learn every day. According to him, the one keything that is special about working here is the �lexibility and free-hand that he has in carrying out his various assignments and thefellowship that he enjoys in his interactions with the people of theorganization. “Here one is to be self-driven to lead the work”, headds. Mr. Jhunjhunwala moved back to Kolkata in 2010 where he iscurrently the CFO and Vice President – Corporate Finance of AsianHotels (East) Ltd., the owning listed Company of Hyatt RegencyKolkata.
Mr. A. SrinivasanMr. A. Srinivasans' association with Saraf Hotel Enterprises began inAugust 1997. He has previously worked with Standard BatteriesLimited in various capacities for 12 years before joining us as VicePresident and Company Secretary. He has been instrumental in themaking of Grand Hyatt Mumbai and was associated with this prop-erty for 10 years before he retired as President of the Company. Hesubsequently joined Robust Hotels Private Limited in 2007 as aDirector where he successfully completed the construction andopening of Hyatt Regency Chennai in August 2011. Over the years,Mr. Srinivasan has been in overall Project Management and HotelOperations. Speaking of his experience working for Saraf HotelEnterprises, Mr. Srinivasan says he is “privileged to work with theOwner on a day to day basis. My work and responsibilities haveevolved over the years and covered areas including bank �inance,statutory approvals and interaction with collaborator and hotelteam and asset management.” Mr. Srinivasan adds that, “Saraf HotelEnterprises has always had good ethics and values in doing busi-ness and decisions from the top management are always quick. Thismakes work easier.”Mr. Amit SarafMr. Amit Saraf has been a part of Saraf Hotel Enterprises sinceOctober 1998. He moved to the retail team in 2001 as the Coordina-tor - Corporate Services & Retail. He was solely responsible for thesuccess of the Grand Hyatt Shopping Plaza after which he waspromoted to AVP – Development and Retail in 2006. Mr. VarunSaraf, Managing Director, Chartered Hotels Pvt. Ltd. attributes a lotof his learning to Mr. Amit Saraf. “My �irst memory with this compa-ny is travelling with Amit (Saraf) to Ahmedabad looking for land.Sitting with Amit (Saraf) and learning - that’s what I did my �irstyear. I used to sit opposite him at his desk and see what he wasdoing and learn from him”, he says. Mr. Amit Saraf is currently theVP Retail and Business Development at Juniper Hotels Pvt. Ltd., theowning company of Grand Hyatt Mumbai.
Radha NambiarMs. Radha Nambiar started her career with Saraf Hotel Enterprisesin November 1998 in the Company Secretarial department. On her�irst day, she reported for duty to Mr. A. Srinivasan (currently theWholetime Director at Robust Hotels Pvt. Ltd.) who she still regardsas her mentor 18 years later. Radha has seen Grand Hyatt Mumbaifrom its inception – the entire demolition of the earlier structure,excavation, laying of the plinth and construction. The challengeaccording to Radha was “ensuring that the hotel opened on time. Itwas extremely stressful but looking back it is de�initely an achieve-ment”. Radha is currently part of the HR department which shejoined in 2010, when it was in a very nascent stage. Over the yearsRadha has had the opportunity to work with several seniors andcolleagues who have helped her grow professionally and personally.When asked what she thinks is unique about Saraf Hotel Enterpris-es, her instant reply is, “our Job Enrichment policy which enablesour people to explore growth opportunities within our organizationitself and expand their skills set.”Mr. Pankaj JhunjhunwalaMr. Pankaj Jhunjhunwala joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises as anExecutive Assistant fresh from college in May 1999, assisting Mr.Kevin Correll and Mr. Potdar in projects procurement and OSNE forGrand Hyatt Mumbai. He moved to Robust Hotels Pvt. Ltd. as anAssistant Director of Projects. Here he worked closely with Mr.Srinivasan for completion of the Hyatt Regency Chennai project.After the successful handover of Hyatt Regency Chennai Mr. Jhun-jhunwala moved to Ahmedabad where he was promoted to VicePresident and then moved to the Andaz Delhi site. According to Mr.Jhunjhunwala, “the great thing about working with Saraf HotelEnterprises is that you have full freedom to perform your dutiesand it gives you a platform to prove yourself. The key is ownership,if you are able to take ownership, there is no end to your growth.”
Mr. Sitaram She yMr. Sitaram Shetty joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises in January 2000in the accounts team. At that time the team consisted of just himselfand Mr. Kumresan. Apart from accounts he also handled liasoningwork with the BMC and other government organizations. BesidesEnglish, Mr. Shetty speaks 8 languages – Hindi, Marathi, Kannada,Tulu, Telugu, Sindhi, Kutchi and Bengali - which he says helps himimmensely in his various interactions. He regards Mr. Srinivasan ashis mentor. He says “Grand Hyatt Mumbai was our �irst property sowe faced a lot of challenges. However, Mr. Srinivasan and the lateMr. Jayant Potdar supported me immensely.” According to Mr.Shetty, “the one good thing about working at Saraf Hotel Enterpris-es is that there is no micromanaging and I have the freedom to domy work the way I want. Mr. Arun Saraf has also known me a longtime and he has been very supportive of me. He always asks aboutmy family and I do not hesitate to ask him anything related towork.”Rekha KelaskarMs. Rekha Kelaskar has been an exceptional employee who hasbeen working with Saraf Hotel Enterprises since 2001. She iscurrently the Grand Hyatt Plaza Manager and has witnessed thehotel from the stage of its inception. She has worked in variousdepartments over the years. Rekha is happy to be working withSaraf Hotel Enterprises and feels very special to be one of the fewpeople who have seen Grand Hyatt Mumbai since its infancy stage.According to Rekha, “The best thing about working at Saraf HotelEnterprises is that everyone – right from the MD to the juniors - isopen and approachable and the atmosphere is always cordial.” TheManagement’s strong belief has given her the opportunities andcon�idence to prove herself in various departments and this experi-ence has helped her grow as a person by profession.
Mr. Deepak MallaMr. Deepak Malla joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises in July 2004 in theFinance department. Working with Hotel Yak & Yeti Kathmanduover the years has enabled him to develop an excellent rapport withdifferent government organizations and people. Mr. Malla enjoysbeing a part of Saraf Hotel Enterprises. According to him “the onething that I really appreciate is the good work environment. I amalso very closely associated with the owners who provide me withall the support to perform my job to the best of my ability.” Mr.Malla is currently the Director of Finance at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Kath-mandu.Mr. Deepchand BaraiMr. Deepchand Barai joined Saraf Hotel Enterprises in 2006 in theoperations team. He got an opportunity to work in the accountsteam since he was also an Inter CA and had completed his article-ship. He worked with Mr. Srinivasan who asked him to join toaccounts team after 2 months of joining our Company. Over theyears he has learnt a lot and has gained a lot of experience and heconsiders Mr. Srinivasan to be his main support and mentor. Today,Deepchand is a Manager – Accounts with Juniper Hotels Pvt. Ltd. Heis very happy with his work and enjoys working with Mr. ArunSaraf.

OURINITIATIVESBOMBAY MEDICAL Bombay Medical Aid Foundation is a charitableAID FOUNDATION organization set up with the objective of offering medical aid and services to the needy. These services include medical camps, mobile medical vans, free medical care, nancial aid towards heart surgeries, general health camps, donation of medical equipment, wheelchairs, palliative care, etc. Various eminent luminaries and philanthropists from across the globe have extended their help and support which has enabled the foundation to attain its goals. Till date, the foundation has treated and nancially aided the treatment of over 20,000 patients from all over India. In addition, over 7,000 patients have been extended nancial help for other major surgeries. Mr. Arun Saraf, Managing Director, Juniper Hotels Pvt. Ltd. is the President and Trustee of Bombay Medical Aid Foundation. The nancial contribution given by Juniper Hotels has assisted the Bombay Medical Aid Foundation in their noble endeavor of spreading health and medical awareness and providing nancial aid for economically backward patients. Health& Wellness Yoga Class: Mumbai Of ce celebrated International Day of Yoga in June. We invited Ms. Vinutha from The Yoga Institute (theyogainstitute.org) which is the oldest organized yoga institute in the world to teach us various Kreyas, Asanas, Pranayamas & relaxation techniques. Emergency First Aid Training was conducted at our Mumbai Of ce by an organization called Emergency First Aid India. It is of utmost importance that everyone knows how to react in cases of medical emergencies like heart attack, stroke, seizures, etc. and injury emergencies like burns, broken bones, etc. This workshop focused on the best rst aid to be given in cases of such emergencies and how to react in a manner that could save a life. Fire & Safety Training in Delhi is conducted every Monday by Col. Kulbir Kataria for all the contractors and workers at Hyatt Andaz Delhi site. The objective of this training is to educate the contractors and workers on site regarding hazards and safety measures, create an attitude and culture of safety consciousness and reduce instances of injuries and accidents to a minimum.

His hobbies include reading fiction andplaying cricket.Anirudh Kr. Vishwakarma has joined us at HyattRegency Lucknow as a Project Executive – Interiors.He has completed a B.A. in Economics and has atotal experience of about 6 years working onprojects like The Oberoi Gurgaon, Vivanta by TajGurgaon and Hilton Garden Inn Jaipur. In his sparetime he likes to watch and play cricket or readbooks, his favorite book being Chanakyaniti.

She has also done 14 months of CA Articleship at Pratap Thakker &Company Chartered Accountants and has worked as an accountant at Verma Mehta & Associates. Her hobbies include listening to Music and her favourite artists are Arijit Singh and Enrique Iglesias. She is also very good at drawing Mehndi.Sunny Palriwala has completed a B.Com from Dalmia College, Mumbai. He has previously worked at IBM before joining us as an Assistant Manager – Development with our Business Development team in Mumbai. He enjoys listening to music and playing sports like Table Tennis, Snooker and Carrom. He is also a national level carom player. Padma Lochan Samal hails from Orissa and has joined us as a Supervisor – Plumbing & Fire Fighting at Hyatt Regency Lucknow. He has completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and has about 5 years of experience working for Ista Hotels Ahmedabad and R.V. Akashganga in Chennai. His hobbies include playing cricket and listening to music. A.R. Rahman is his favorite musician. Udit Kr. Bishi has completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering from SCTE&VT, Odisha. He has recently joined us as a Site Engineer at the Hyatt Regency Lucknow site. His hobbies include playing cricket and surfing the internet. Jasveen Sethi Bindra has also joined “The Mommy Collective” as a Design Assistant. She completed a certificate course in Aircraft Engineering before turning to her next love which is fashion designing. She has completed a certificate course in Fashion Designing INIFT and has about 1.5 years ofexperience working in the fashion industry. She loves to dance and does two hours of dancing with Shiamak Davar every Sunday. She also loves reading and is currently reading the Mahabharata.
