Web: www.wild-horses-namibia.com/foundation No wonder that the biggest democracy in the world, India, was one of the first to congratulate Namibia as one of the smallest, yet most stable and peaceful democracies, with its 27th anniversary at the remote frontier town bordering Angola with whom Namibia shared a lifetime of an independence struggle and whose monuments are unmarked graves scattered over the vast plains and forests of two neighbours as if they were one battlefield. The wave of unity and patriotism that started a few weeks ago in Keetmanshoop is slowly growing into a national Tsunami in defence of the democracy, peace, unity and independence of the Namibian nation. For every insult that the President and the elder statesmen in his team had to endure over the past few weeks in the streets of Windhoek, one of the most developed cities in the world, a thousand voices in Rundu supported and applauded the leadership in their quest to stay the course of rededication and transformation. Just as inspirational as the communities of Kavango and the outlying areas of Namibia are, so must all Namibians become responsible for improving the lives of fellow Namibians. The sacrifices that the poor and marginalised communities make at the polling booths to keep Namibia democratic and peaceful by huge participation and voting percentages to sustain a multi- party democracy 27 years after independence is nearly as great as the sacrifices that freedom fighters and made in the 23 years of the liberation struggle. They should now be able to count on the contributions and participation of their more fortunate fellow citizens towards a more equal society within the supreme law of the land. Dignity and respect is the very least they have earned and therefore can expect. The facts are that rural communities are the first to face the brunt of harsh climate of drought on one day and floods the very next day, but are the last to receive relief aid. Namibia’s democracy, peace and freedom is not a spectator sport where only the poor and marginalised participate and the fortunate cheer them on. It is a team sport and a free Namibia needs Namibians to lead and to follow towards a better future for all. The Rundu celebrations confirmed the winning spirit of a nation on the march towards the light at the end of the tunnel. And the thousands in support of the Namibian genesis of the Nujoma/Pohamba and Geingob presidency and the respect and expectations of the foremost nations and institutions of the world will keep the nation great.

He explained that the removal of COSAFA president, Suketu Patel was the right step for the region as he too was loyal to Hayatou. Patel lost out to Zimbabwe’s Phillip Chiyangwa. “We went back to the drawing board and carefully mapped out a plan and it started with voting out Patel, which effectively killed off Hayatou’s influence in the region. We then embarked upon gunning for support from other CAF zones to have enough votes to defeat Hayatou and this worked out well. In the end we got more than we expected for the votes and we can now say things are headed in a new direction on the continent,” Mbidi concluded.
