What is instruction design? It is: • A process. ▪ Systematic. ▪ Planned and structured. ▪ A variety of materials that aide learning and are adapted to each student. ▪ Pursuant to quality learning and teaching. (Yukavetsky, G. J., 2009)
Terminology related to Instructional Design Instructional design- It is a systematic, planned and structured process where a variety of educational materials are produced and are tempered to the needs of the students, thus ensuring the quality of learning. (Yukavetsky, 2009).
Terminology Traditional instruction- The process of teaching and learning directly related to the physical presence of a teacher in a specific room, classroom or space.(Bonilla, 2004).
Terminology Online course- Academic event using the Internet or carried out through the Web (Subsecretary of Higher Education, 2009).
Terminology Distance education (DE). Simonson, Smaldino, Albright, & Zvacek, (2006) define DE as the institutional base in formal education where learning is conducted individually; where an interactive telecommunications system is used to connect learners, resources, and instructors. It is also known as Online Education.
