Civilian Employee of the Year Mercedes Carrillo is inspiring to everyone around her. She has managed to make an exceptional impact on the finance department through her punctilious nature, eagerness to learn, and passion for success. Mercedes has also completed her journey to becoming a U.S. Citizen this year, and makes great progress to achieving her degree in Accounting. She indubitably brings a positive energy to the workplace and shows great compassion for her co-workers and members of the community. Navigating the Virtual World Social platforms have entirely altered the landscape of the internet. Today, over 3.96 billion people in the world are actively using social media. That is why we have made a particular effort to not only improve our social networking image but also provide the public with the most up to date information we have. Through our presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter we have amassed around 3,987 new followers just over the course of 2020. As we continue to grow our following and navigate the virtual world we live in today, we analyze this past years statistics to better enable us for the future. To the right you will see a breakdown of our community engagement among our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts during 2020. The restrictions on public gatherings, meetings, and events this past year highlighted the importance of having an online presence. We were effectively able to maintain contact with our community by posting about emergency situations, safety advice, achievements within the District, and more. The provided statistics show observable growth in our outreach and provide a baseline for areas to improve as we navigate through 2021. We will continue to use these outlets to further boost public interaction and education.
