ForewordI had the privilege of reading the manuscript of Pastor KayodeOlukoga’s latest book: The Altar of Significance. It is a powerfulbook that points the reader to the secrets of success that areoften ignored by man in the pursuit of his life journey. Creation is not accidental. There is a Creator. In the same waythe created cannot fulfil the purpose of the Creator without thelatter. Jesus said “...without me, you can do nothing”. John 15:5.Hence, to truly fulfil the purpose of the Creator, the created mustconnect or reconnect himself to His Creator. There lies the secretto man’s true existence and real significance. This book clearly shows us how to connect with our Creator inorder to collect from Him. The Altar is where spiritual transactionstake place and man is not just body and soul. He is also a spirit.Life’s battles are not primarily physical but they are spiritual. Untilyou win life’s battles in the spirit, you cannot vanquish in thephysical. It is important to realise that before the day on earth, there has been a day in heaven. Job 1: 6, 13 Pastor Olukoga, in this powerful book tells the reader about theAltar as the spiritual power base of the true believer and ultimatelythe true achiever. The author has shared with us powerfully therequirements of daily and continuous sacrifice we must makeon the Altar in order to command the fire of response from Godthat will assure and ensure a significantly fulfilled life of purpose. In a world of tribulations where the enemy seeks to alter man’sdestiny at the slightest opportunity, a vibrant, well serviced Altar isneeded to overcome him. v
If you want to be spiritually empowered by the Divine Agent, the Holy Spirit, you need this book for a deeper and betterunderstanding of how to access His treasure. For salvation totranslate to significance; for destiny to lead to destination offulfilled purpose, you need this powerful material. You need to diginto this book, digest it and deploy the timely principles containedtherein. The Patriarchs, who lived, fulfilled lives of significance,Abraham, Isaac and Jacob all raised Altars to their Creator; offeredcontinuous sacrifices on their altars and then enjoyed the benefitsand blessings of divine fire from God. Pastor Olukoga tells us to go and do likewise and shows us theway to do it. Read his book, heed his counsel and you will headtowards your destined life of significanceGod bless you richly.Leke SanusiSenior Pastor, Victory House, London, UKCoach, Mentor & Conference Speaker,Regional Pastor, RCCG Europe Mainland Region 2, Spainvi

EndorsementThe Altar of Significance by the author is a timely needed materialfor this season. As a sequel to The Call to Significance, it helpsus to appreciate our present location whilst giving helpful tips toenable us to become significant. Over the years, I have always said that “it is better not to be,than to be and be useless”. I highly, unreservedly recommendThe Altar of Significance as a much needed compendium in thepursuit of significance, as everything rises and falls on The “Altar”.Thank you, Pastor Kayode for this effort.Dr. David Sola OludoyiPresident, Shinning Light GroupRegional Pastor, RCCG Europe Mainland Region 3Senior Pastor, RCCG Royal ConnectionsIt’s a privilege to endorse this life-changing manuscript whichhas the profound capacity to challenge anyone who reads itto aim at becoming significant in life. This book will disregardone to critically examine one’s life and assess if we are living orsurviving. There are many books in print but not all captivates tothe point that you decide there and then to draw closer to theAlmighty God “as the deer pants for the waters.”I believe thateven young people who are starting the journey of life will benefittremendously from this book as a manual for the journey of life.It serves as a manual for life’s journey to significance so that themistakes of their parents will not be repeated in their lives. PastorKayode did an excellent job as a teacher of calling a spade aviii
spade: you are either living, fulfilling God’s mandate for your life orjust existing. It is my prayer that anyone who reads this book willexamine their lives and determines to turn back to the Author andFinisher of our faith. He alone has the blueprint for our lives andcan make our lives successful and significant. Thank you dearPastor and welcome to your golden years.Kathryn Olajumoke OlumoyegunPastor, DaySpring Chapel, Grays, UKMany believers today are living an average unsatisfactory Christianlife and are looking for alternatives or solutions. Unfortunately thesolutions being offered out there are very temporal. This bookactually opens the believer to a lasting solution to life’s challenges -which is at the Altar. Everyone must now understand that in order to fulfill andaccomplish destiny, and to significantly contribute to the overallpurpose of God there is a need to revisit the altar being built ineach life. For all you know, every life erects an altar, the differenceis in the type of altar and what it is being used for or the part itplays in fulfilling eternal purpose. The altar is the principal place of deep communion with theCreator - The Almighty God. It is the place of sacrifice and forthe believer who will fulfill purpose and accomplish destiny, thesacrifice must attract Heaven’s attention. This book explains the need for an altar in everyone’s life; forit is at the altar you commune with and hear the voice of Godand it is there you receive the instructions you need to thrive andmaximize your God given potentials. ix
This book titled “The Altar of Significance” which is a follow upof the book titled “The Call to Significance” by the same author –Pastor Kayode Olukoga (PKO), contains insights and nuggetsrequired to fulfill divine destiny. This book has joined the reserved list of books that I startedto read and was unable to drop until I finished it. The insight, nuggets and the truth being communicated will warm the heart ofall who have discovered their God given assignment and thosewho are at a crossroad in their journey of faith. A unique quality ofthis book is its compact size, with outstanding revelation on everypage. I recommend this book for every serious minded individual andpromise that you will not feel like you are wasting time.Akin LaosunLead Pastor/TrusteeGates of Praise International Centre, Grays, Essex, UKTo be significant is to carry value inside and outside, and it is alsoto be sought after and to stand out. A life can be significant if itsolves more problems than it creates. A partner can be significantif he adds more to the partnership than he takes away. A churchcan be significant if it leaves a community better than it met it. Andfinally, a book can be significant, if it creates more knowledgeand takes away more ignorance. And I boldly declare: this is asignificant book. The Author, Pastor Kayode Olukoga has delved deep into thefountain of knowledge to educate his readers on what it meansto be significant, how to be significant and more importantly, howx
to remain significant. A deep research has been done into thedifferent dimensions of significance and I believe with all my heartthat anytime spent to read this book will be time well spent.Ezekiel Leke OjoLead PastorRCCG Solid Rock Phoenix ArizonaIn the “Altar of Significance”, the author brilliantly makes a solidcase about how you can live a significant life and masterfully walkyou through the key components required to make you arrivethere. He also uses the metaphor of a car driver on a journeyto a destination called significance and highlights the necessaryfactors required to get there safely and on time. I found the book to be highly refreshing, very insightful andclearly engaging. The “Altar of Significance” definitely is a gamechanger. Generally, I recommend it to everyone who wants moreout of life and desires to thrive than rather just survive. Specifically,I believe that students, youths, business and career orientedpersons and entrepreneurs would benefit immensely fromthis book”Francis UgbeikwuSenior PastorRCCG Breakthrough Chapel, London xi
I had an initial trepidation regarding what this book is all about, particularly as I could not immediately figure out the precisemeaning of the title. However, after reading the introduction I hada vague idea of its purpose. Chapter Three is what the author used to drive home the book’stitle, and it is in Chapter Three that I found the greatest factors thatcan make any man thrive in life as opposed to merely surviving.Developing an altar where you commune with God on a regularbasis and at particular location has helped several successfulChristian, it is also one of the examples that our Lord Jesus left forus, as He retreated to the mountains and secluded locations to bein close contact with His source - God the Father. This habit andthe ingredients have also helped me personally. In addition, I commend the notion of constantly pushing orturning ‘the wheel of Progress’ for continued and higher life ofsignificance as expounded by the author in Chapter Five. It canonly lead to a life of significance. This book is an easy read that touches on key ingredients for ahighly successful life, and I therefore commend the author’s work,as well as endorse it for publication and reading by as many aswish to excel in life.Cornelius B Alalade PhDHead, RCCG School of MissionsLondon, UKxii
I have known the author for a long time now. Within this long timeof close interaction with him, he has been able to demonstratethat he is an asset to the body of Christ. He is highly intelligentand shows a lot of promise as a deep analyst in his mode ofexpression. He approaches his calling with confidence and maturity. Hislatent intellectual ability very frequently manifests itself in hiswritings. Above all, he is consistently logical. All of the above statedqualities manifest in this piece of work. His brief of arguments asto how to leave a significant mark for the oncoming generationis sound and above all his analysis and conclusion are scripturalcompliant. I therefore recommend that ‘Altar of Significance’ and hisother publications in the series as a must read for everyonewho value their purpose here on earth and wish to make a successof same.Stephen K RotimiSenior PastorRCCG KKT, Essex, UK xiii

IntroductionThe year is 2015, and the blight of helplessness and hopelessness in the world is endemic and it can be evidentlyseen and observed today particularly amongst the youth. Allforms of terrorism are at its peak. The kind of peace we onceenjoyed in the last twenty five years is fast eroding; safety andsecurity have risen to the top of countries agenda in ensuring thattheir citizens are kept safe and can go about normal day to dayactivities without fear. In addition, reckless living is on the increase, centred on all forms of physical abuse [drugs, alcohol, sexualmisconduct etc] and lately cyber abuse, attacks and terrorism. The world has become dangerous and the value system haschanged and in most recent times warped for evil, erroneous andsatanic objectives and gains. In addition, the prolonged negativeeconomic influence and slow recovery has not helped matters. Joblessness & idleness increase amongst graduates and non-graduates, meaning that people are embracing these warpedvalues from both religious and non religious groups on the basisof offering them help and hope. Brexit in UK of 2016 has furtherfuelled the uncertainty creating economic panic across Europe. However, True Help and Hope in life are with the “Life Tutor” atthe significant place; which for the purpose of this book is called“The Altar”. Everybody needs one; and it is your own personalplace for revival, renewal, refreshment and rejuvenation. The Life 1
The Altar of SignificanceTutor [God] himself will source and sustain you so that you canthrive gloriously instead of surviving helplessly. You will not resignto survive; on the contrary, you will rise up to thrive. So to thehopeless and helpless, the disappointed and the depressed, tothe trapped and the stagnant, the lonely and the downcast, theperplexed and the frustrated; when you maximise your presenceat the Altar, you will know that you are too loved to be abandoned, too valuable to be neglected, too connected to be frustrated, too defended to be a victim, and too blessed to be stressed.Hopelessness comes from being without God in this wretchedand complex world, so know this Dear Reader,MM There is something God has in mind for you, because He is your SourceMM There is a purpose and plan to be fulfilled, because He is your CreatorMM There is a place God is taking you, because He is your GuideMM There is something that God wants to do in you and through you, because He is your ResourceMM There is something God wants you to possess because He is your RewarderMM There is a sacrifice that must be made, because He is your ExampleMM There is a particular kind of person God want you to be, because He is Omniscient;MM and most significantly;2
IntroductionMM There is the chosen man amongst the called within the crowd that God is always and constantly looking for to advance and maximise his kingdom objectives and agenda here on earth, because that is his ultimate for you. In short, your destiny will be accomplished; and His purpose will be achieved; hence there is no need to give up on life and there is also no room for hopelessness, just come to the Life Tutor and you will receive the hope and help required that will radically alter your life, so that you can thrive as before in spite of all the negative influences that abound this 21st century. Your life will be beautified again and more so that you can progress to the next level. The five short chapters will nourish you in maximising your presence at your personal altar. These questions now arise.MM Will you position yourself to be Chosen for your Unique Mandate or Mission?MM Are you ready to be sourced and sustained for this Specific & Unique Ultimate Call? 3
CHAPTER 1 The Chosen for SignificanceWho can be Chosen, Why & What you need to know?Life is an uphill journey lived in stages and made up in seasons. To each stage, there are things that need to be accomplished. Each stage in the committal pursuit of personal goals will requirediligence, discipline and sacrifice. The Creator is willing andinterested in those who are ready to fulfil life’s ultimate call;hence, [2Chronicles 16:9a For the eyes of the Lord run to and frothroughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalfof them whose heart is perfect toward him] At the moment or point of salvation, there is the call of Godto repentance from sin and turning from the world, howeverhappening simultaneously also, the salvation decision, positionsand aligns the Called to his/her personal divine destiny and truedivine purpose in life. Many are called, few are chosen, simplybecause higher degree of commitment, sacrifice, focus, and 5
The Altar of Significancediligence is required to move on from the initial Call of Salvationto the Specific & Ultimate Call of Life’s fulfilment. The Initial & General Call is what average people operate inlife mostly, hence they don’t progress their call to the Ultimate; itis not so for the diligent chosen one. The chosen are eagles thatare ready to climb to the ultimate peak of achievement. Beyondthe Call to Christ known as Instant Salvation, there is that whichPaul refers to in his discussion in [Philippians 2:12] which I will callProgressive Salvation] stated thus: Wherefore, my beloved, asye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but nowmuch more in my absence; work out your own salvation withfear and trembling]. Average and Idle personalities don’t workit out thoroughly from the salvation decision point to the destinyattaining and purpose fulfilling point. Salvation must be progressedand sustained throughout life until earth’s departure or rapture[whichever comes first]. Progressive Salvation is what seals andsustains you through earthly pursuit up to eternity. Hence, let usnow briefly capture our discussion so far.MM Common Assignments are for the Multitude or Crowd; Unique Assignments for the ChosenMM Common Assignments for the Average Person, Outstanding Assignments for the Chosen PersonMM Ordinary Assignments for the Average Man; Extraordinary Assignments for the Chosen ManMM The Average Man is a Spectator; the Chosen & Ultimate Man goes on to be a Player and a Champion.MM Comfortability is the position of the Mediocre Man; Cutting & Leading Edge is the position and preference of the Chosen & Ultimate Man.6
Chapter 1 The Chosen for SignificanceWhat you need to knowIn progressing to the ultimate in life, it is crucial that a persontakes cognisance of the following listed below. They are simplythe factual truths of life and must be rigorously addressed toensure the chosen can progress his/her call to the fullest. Thepromises we have in scripture attest to the fact that God withoutany shadow of doubt wants our life to be long according toPsalms 91:16 however, the life will be more enriching, pleasantand rewarding if it is also;MM Full : not engaged in idleness, frivolity, futility and vanityMM Fruitful, : promising, productive, profitable and positively influencing lives and humanityMM Fulfilled & : attaining a state of well being; coupled with intense gratitude and satisfactionMM Flourishing : enjoying life’s fullest in strength, health and wealth in the spirit, body and soul. Furthermore, the guiding signs for the person who wants tothrive in life and constantly fulfil his/her ultimate call are givenbelow. Ensure you understand and pay close attention to them. They would assist and help you to maximise life with minimal lossand damage. So in achieving the ultimate in life, as highlightedand discussed in my preface, here are the seven listed“Road - Guiding Signs” in the uphill journey of life. So, if you areto thrive; strive to understand and excel in them. 7
The Altar of SignificanceMM Journey : Romans 8: 29-30 - [Journey started with God and ends with God]MM Purpose : Romans 8:28; Proverbs 19:21MM Relationship : Genesis 2:18; Psalms 68:6; Proverbs 18:24MM Chararcter : 1Thessalonians 4: 7; 2Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:24; 1Timothy 6:9-11.MM Wisdom : Proverbs 4:7 & Ecclesiastes 10:10b.MM Peace : Hebrews 12:14, Romans 12:18.MM Infuence : Genesis 12:3b; Matthew 4:10; Matthew 28:19.In summary: Life is a destiny travailingzzuphill Journey, zzwith a Divine Purpose, zzthat involves Relationshipszzrequires Character to accomplish, zzmust be navigated with Wisdomzzfollowed and pursued with Peace, zzfor the long term view of community and humanity Influence; In essence, Life is a journey of destiny, purpose and ultimatelyinfluence. Becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt was Joseph’sdestiny, preserving the human race of Israelites was his purpose.Esther’s destiny was to become a queen, preserving the Jews ofthe time was her purpose. Becoming the Governor of the returnedJews was Nehemiah’s destiny, rebuilding the walls of Jerusalemwas his purpose. So in this journey of life, Seek first the Purposesof God in right standing; and your Destiny and Influence will beAdded, Accelerated, and Actualised unto you.8
Chapter 1 The Chosen for Significance So as we move to the next chapter; my desire, wish and prayerfor you is that you will act wisely so that 2Chronicles 16:9b will notbe a fulfilment in your life; which reads “Herein thou hast donefoolishly: therefore from henceforth you would have wars.” ConsultGod and you have Miracles instead of Miseries, Gain instead ofPain. So, how can you progress your call from the general to thespecific and then to the ultimate? It is only byMM Holding to your Source – God; because He was there in the past before the beginning started for youMM Sticking with your Friend – Jesus; because He is the ever present and faithful companion for the present and immediate needs and challengesMM Listening to your Counsellor – Holy Spirit – He is constant inspirer and revealer of truth for a brighter and glorious future SUMMARY & CLOSE zzThe Hallmark of a Chosen Man is the ability to maintain focus, diligence & commitment in progressing and advancing his unique calling from the Specific to the Ultimate. zzThe Chosen Man who knows his Mandate is devoid of Envious Comparison, Needless Competition & Insecure Relationships. 9
CHAPTER 2 The Agent of SignificanceWho is the Agent?Illumination is the process of becoming visible after being concealed. It is the process of coming into existence orprominence. Illumination carries with it the ability to disclose, tounfold, to appear, to expose, to publish, to showcase, to broadcastand to publicise. So, at the point of second birth experience[Instant Salvation], the inner spirit is renewed and reconnectedto its original creative source [God]; and from then the chosenchild of God is illuminated and opened to the inexhaustibleability, capacity and power of the Holy Spirit to reach and attainthe Ultimate Fulfilment in life’s pursuit. The Holy Spirit is multi-dimensional in his ability and capacity as itemised below. TheDivine agent when sought and consulted is capable of:MM disclosing the plan and purposes of God to the recipient;MM unfolding the gifts, potential and natural inclinations that lies within;10
Chapter 2 The Agent of SignificanceMM bringing to light what is hidden from natural or normal sensory perceptionMM exposing all positive intents of God and also negative & destructive pretence of SatanMM publishing the revelatory facts and truth for safety and sustenance in life’s journeyMM showcasing exceptional attributes and qualities as and when neededMM ultimately broadcasting and publicising the Glory of God in the life of a Christian. Furthermore, Illumination enables the new man in Christ toemerge. In essence Illumination enables the Emergence ofthe Chosen Man, displaying the beauty and glory of the Lord.Proverbs 4:18 states: But the path of the just is as shinning light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The fulfilmentof this scripture can only be possible with the Divine Agent. Hedetermines the steps of the called and chosen for beautification. It is the reason why Matthew 5:16 will be achievable which reads:Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your goodworks and glorify your Father which is heaven. The Holy Spiritcommissioned and guided our Saviour and He was there to sustainand empower him throughout the redemptive plan journey.Primary ObjectiveThe primary objective of the divine agent is to counsel you in the“Will of God”. He cannot do otherwise. He will counsel you for yourentire journey in life whilst sourcing, imputing and contributingsignificantly to your improvement, progress and advancement. 11
The Altar of SignificanceRecalling the seven factual areas that I discussed in Chapter 1, theDivine Agent [Holy Spirit] is the:MM Companion for the Uphill JourneyMM Revealer of True PurposeMM Establisher of Destiny RelationshipsMM Reinforcer of Positive CharacterMM Inspirer of Intelligent WisdomMM Mediator for Perfect PeaceMM Agent of Global InfluencePlus FactorThe divine agent is the greatest and ultimate catalytic and energeticplus factor in operating, blending and manoeuvring the sevenfactual areas of life itemised for your convenience below. So, howcan a Man Arise and Shine? It is only by the enabling, limitless, inexhaustible and multi-dimensional power of the Holy Spirit. In summary: Life is a destiny travelling and travailingMM uphill Journey,MM with a Divine Purpose,MM that involves RelationshipsMM requires Character to accomplish,MM must be navigated with WisdomMM followed and pursued with Peace,MM for the long term view of community and humanity Influence;12
Chapter 2 The Agent of Significance+MM Holy Spirit: John 3:34 whilst being constantly sourced & resourced by the Limitless Power of the Holy Spirit John 3:34 [NIV]: For the one whom God has sent speaks thewords of God. For God gives the Spirit without limit. The person, who does not want to be limited, needs to hearken to the limitlessSpirit of God. The moment a man stops fighting for what mattersmost in life; at that instance he settles for the norm, routine andmundane. The man dies on the inside whilst he lives. He resigns inlife and begins to exist. However with the divine agent, his spirit isconstantly quickened to achieve God’s best and ultimate accordingto John 6:63a: It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profitethnothing. Hence, the battle over the flesh must be fought and wonby the Spirit of God; consequently and inevitably, the “Will of God”begins to exercise itself over the “Self Will” of the Chosen Man. SUMMARY & CLOSE zzAcceptance of and Fellowship with the Divine Agent is a safe, steady, sure and secure option for progressive acceleration, successful attainment and eventual glorification. zzIgnorance of the Divine Agent is unsafe, perilous and counter-productive for the Chosen Man. 13
CHAPTER 3 The Altar of SignificanceWhere will the Holy Transaction take place?Following on progressively from the first two chapters, the Called and Chosen child of God coupled with Holy Spirit; ofutmost necessity requires a stable, sustained and vibrant Altarfor a productive and fulfilling life of good success, significanceand influence. Dear Reader, there is a promising fulfilling futureand a glorifying Place that God is taking you; however there is aspecial, chosen, unique and particular kind of Person He needs;that can maximise the place when they get there. So in order toreach the place in life the Lord will need to instruct, inspire andguide you through day to day life’s roughest terrain and diabolicalchallenges, so that you can make good success of your life. Many notable patriarchs like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua,Elijah, Jeremiah, Paul, and the list goes on; are proven examples. There is a present place however, in the here and now; that you14
Chapter 3 The Altar of Significancemust ensure you cultivate the daily habit of visiting for constantresource and support. It is the place of your Personal Altar wherethe seat is your heart. In view of the above, the Lord wants to grow, teach, instruct, train, develop and most of all mature you so that you can takeyour rightful unique place in the pursuit of fulfilling your destiny, whilst He achieves His purpose for your life. In essence, as Iexplained in the closing chapters of my previous book: “The Callto Significance”: the journey of life is twin-fold lumped into everychosen child of God, and it is always 1/ the fulfilment of personaldestiny and 2/the achievement of God’s predestined purpose. For example Joseph, becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt washis destiny, however preserving the Jewish race was his Purpose;the same goes for Moses and Esther. Jesus was destined asthe King of all Kings and Advocate; however Salvation throughRedemption for mankind was His purpose. Fact, God alwaysuses your destiny to fulfil His divine purpose. They are mutuallyinclusive for every bona fide child of God.What about the Altar? The heart is the primary place where God meets man, and manencounters God. It is in the interest of the reader to build yourPersonal Altar. It is a spiritual place by nature in your heart, whereyou receive daily dose of refreshments and encouragement. It isplace where you commune with God, as you grow, increase andmature spiritually. That is why He knocks on the door of your heartin Revelation 3:20 [Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if anyman hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him,and will sup with him and he with me]. 15
The Altar of Significance The spiritual place of your communion can then be furtherenhanced by having a fixed physical place in your home or office,or a fixed place around you, where you can go and obtain arefreshing time from his presence. There you can have your heartsoothed, healed, refreshed and strengthened to deal with life’schallenges. Ensure it is a place where you will not be distractedso that you can commune with utmost concentration. For mostsuccessful and significant people that you know, the heart iswhere they receive conviction of God’s calling for destiny andpurpose. “To be Called” is to be moving always and constantly fromone place/position/or goal toward another; to move from whereyou are to some place in the future; or to be moving from onelevel of glory to another level. So, the question now arises, howdo you source, sustain and keep progressing in this constantmove without stagnancy and complacency? It is only if you areconstantly refuelled and regularly nourished in your heart, bythe divine agent: the Holy Spirit. Reader, please note that whenMan calls you, God is not duty bound to resource you; but whenGod calls you, He is unflinchingly committed to be your constantresource. So; what about the Altar of Significance? It is where theCall of God becomes the Pull of Destiny. Chapter 3 The Altar of Significance So, where there is unity and harmony, the heart begins to receivecounsel and guidance that eventually results in persuasion andconviction from the Agent; it is at that point that the Call of Godupon your life becomes a divine Pull towards Destiny. When thePull begins to happen; you are able tozzVisualise your CallzzReceive Conviction and Passion for your CallzzReceive Strength and Momentum for your Call That is why it is difficult and almost impossible for a spirit-filledchild of God, to deviate from the plan of God, because He isconstantly constrained and pulled towards his destined purpose. That is why the spirit-filled, called man, convinced and persuadedis unstoppable in living the Full Life of God, because overflowinggrace is always available according to John 1:16 “And of hisfullness have all we received, and grace for grace.” In essence, theFull Life in God is experienced as we respond to the call and thepull of destiny, whilst constantly being resourced by the fullnessof God’s grace. The Altar, the Sacrifice and the FireLet’s take a crucial and important proven and tested hint fromElijah and the contest at Mount Carmel in [1Kings18:30-39], wenotice the three key elements above which are often evidentthroughout scriptures when men want to ceremonially worship, dedicate or relate with God in Bible days; it requires the Altar, the Sacrifice and the Fire. In verse 30, Elijah repaired the Altar:reader, for a rewarding fellowship and friendship with God, I 17
The Altar of Significancesuggest that you repair your relational altar with God and liveintensely and obediently according to His Word. In verse 33,Elijah placed the Sacrifice which is the bullock on the Altar. Childof God, unrelenting and consistent sacrifices of time spent withGod in solitude is a must; patience with God for Him to work outthe best is crucial, and also your energy must be expended ingodly pursuits. Divinely inspired projects and assignment mustbe pursued, money must be invested in upward investment andgifts, skills and talents must be sown into laudable God-givenrevelation, vision, vocation and ambition. These sacrifices areneeded to attract heavens attention. In verse 38a: Then the firefell. This is the heavenly response that comes when things aredone in the right way [verse 31-33]; at the right time [verse 36];with right motive of glorifying God, [verse 37] In the day to day life operations of a child of God, the Altar ofthe heart is the “Place” of inspired revelational divine instructions, exclusive intelligent information and strategic guidance anddirection that brings rewards, returns and profiting; the Sacrificeis the spiritual, material, mental and social “Cost” that must bemade, imbibed and assimilated into our lifestyles; and the Fire ofGod is the communicative acknowledgement and pleasing divine“Response” from God affirming his child whilst simultaneouslyaddressing and meeting the cogent needs and thriving requestsof his beloved children. In summary, zzthe Altar is the place of Consecration to Godzzthe Sacrifice is the cost of Connection with Godzzthe Fire is the responsive Communication from God18
Chapter 3 The Altar of Significance So the reader is encouraged and challenged to prioritise dailyregular fellowship with God, by separating and submitting himselfconsistently unto God for timely and responsive communicationand intervention. So why the need for an AltarYou need the Altar so that you can develop intimacy with God.The Altar is a place of spiritual growth where God develops inyou maturity and malleability. Maturity comes from fellowship andIntimacy with God. Malleability comes as a result of brokenness, remoulding and reshaping by God to bring about a noble characterand honourable vessel in his children. It is this daily compoundingof this fellowship and intervention that produces strong characterto achieve the ultimate in life. A whole book will not be enough to inform you of theinexhaustible list why a dynamic and vibrant personal Altar isa crucial need for every child of God. It is the place where youwork out your salvation with fear and trembling according to[Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling], and itis the place where personal, spiritual, physical, intellectual andinteractive social development, growth and increase occurs, if aperson is serious and committed to personal development likeJesus was. [Luke 2:52]. The Altar is the place where:MM Mistakes are turned to Miracles,MM Ignorance are turned to Intelligence,MM ‘Uncertainties are turned to Certainties 19
The Altar of SignificanceMM Confusion becomes ConvictionMM Illusion becomes Illumination,MM Disillusion becomes Discernment andMM Failures are turned to Fruitfulness Going forward, I must however quickly stress at this point that, there are two key expectations that happen and coincide at theAltar. They are:1. The Duties to God, and2. The Gifts to Man The heart of man is the holy sanctified place where interactivecommunication and fellowship happen between God and hischild. It is the holy platform where clear privileged obligationsare demanded from his child; who seeks his kind, precious, uncommon, invaluable and unimaginable gifts of power, promises, and pleasures from God his maker. What are then the obligations toGod and what are the interventional gifts of love to man? There is noother place where you can maximise your life than at your Altar[both Spiritual and Physical], that is why I call it the Altar ofSignificance. 21
The Altar of Significance It is the place where silence, solitary and solitude of heart cantake place. There is too much at stake for the child of God whowill not commune privately with God; a place where the river ofliving water will flow for you to nourish and sustain you. Also, theAltar of Significance is where spiritual maturity occurs; followingconsistent spiritual fellowship with God; which progressivelycompounds and births persuasion and conviction in you, resultingin daily increase and growth and over time metamorphoses intospiritual maturity. It is Spiritual Maturity in a man that provides conviction, promotespurity; perpetuate godly priorities and produces discernment. Inthe event and sad absence of spiritual maturity, what you seeis spiritual activity devoid of spiritual intimacy. May I remind youonce again the words of Blaise Pascal? “All of men’s miseriesand complications in life are derived from not being able tosit in a quiet room alone.” The current generation and its everadvancing technological development are been dangerouslydistracted with such gadgets and sometimes derailed in theirpursuits, because they are unable to sit alone and reflect on lifeissues. For such, they are unable to enjoy the benefits of suchquiet moments; which when not addressed has great propensityof wrecking faith, producing immature adults and side-steps theirtrue purpose. Lastly, it is at the Altar of Significance, that you fight and warthe good warfare daily; the inevitable Battle of Life courageously;defeating the enemies of your spiritual growth. At your Altar, youpull down and defeat satanic altars. This daily battle is foughtalone with God, if you are to thrive and live life to the full; all youneed is courage and determination. There is a saying that goes22
Chapter 3 The Altar of Significancethus: “Without courage, you are not living, you are only hiding”.May I also add that “Without courage, you are not living, you areonly Existing; without courage, a man cannot thrive, at best Hecan only survive.” At the Altar of Significance, Spiritual Importancedrives away Carnal Urgency, because God drives the agenda ofyour life, not the carnal thirst of the flesh or the unholy desire ofwell intentioned people around you. In conclusion, the ability to implement and execute the stepsbelow will maximise your presence at the Altar effectively andefficiently. This is what differentiates between those who thrivein their destiny and purpose from those who merely survivein despondency, disillusion and mundane existence on thefringes of society. I have used the word ALTAR as an Acronym todrive home the message. CHAPTER 4The Chances & Choices for SignificanceThe proverbial saying goes thus Choices, not chances determine the fulfilment of destiny and purpose. At thiscrucial juncture, I want to briefly highlight the important relevanceof “Chances”, “Constraints” and “Choices” in our continueddiscussion; as you strive and thrive for substance in God for yourlife, in order to move with divine speed and support for eventualsound success. Let us recall and summarise our discussion so farand also project forward since we are nearing the end. So whatare all the Chapters about?zzChapter 1: What you are In Christ? The Altar of SignificancezzChapter 3: Where will it happen for me? The Solitary Influential Place of your Private Altar of SignificancezzChapter 4: How will Success & Significance Happen for you - Read on! Firstly, let’s grasp the candid fact that Ultimate Assignmentscarry with it a greater and wider influence over and beyond yourimmediate family. This is so because God is always interested inreaching out for greater coverage to mankind. Jesus’ influence isstill extending to humanity even after 2000 years that he came.Such should be the legacy of a bona fide child of God: like Father, like son. It is no wonder Apostle Paul achieved similar influenceand he admonishes us in [Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be inyou, which was also in Christ Jesus]; so if we have the mind ofChrist, we are positioned to achieve what He achieved and evenmore. [New Living Translation puts it directly to us: “You must havethe same attitude that Christ Jesus had]. Beloved reader, we arecompelled to have the same attitude and purpose with a humblemind so that we can move from the shadows of comfort andmediocrity to the substantial place of ultimate influence, becausewe are all called and chosen for a specific and unique call; whichmany never fulfil or aspire to attain.ChancesIn view of our discussion so far, God is the primary and principalsource of glorious and global influence: starting from inspiringthe vision, fuelling our passion, rolling out the plan, directing ourpaths and determining our steps. In addition, in this wonderful and26
Chapter 4 The Chances & Choices for Significancetriumphant journey of life, He divinely, wittingly and deliberatelyintroduces weaves and twists of great “Chances” [opportunities]that are capable of strategically and progressively movinghis chosen child to the next phase, next level or seasons oflife; provided such opportunities are not missed or lost due tospiritual ignorance and immaturity. This is the reason why our timeat the Significance Altar must be a priority and conscientiouslymaximised with all diligence. God is interested in our progressand that is why if He is the originator and source of any plan, Hewill also ensure that He orchestrates and resource his plan; failingthat, He is not duty bound to source and resource.ConstraintsWith God’s chances come some constraints that wisely positionyou, favourably guide you and direct you to achieving great goalsin life. His constraints keep you on the straight and narrow. Hisconstraint watches over you, protects you, nurtures you, growsyou, so that you are able to achieve what you set out to achievein life. The constraints are the guiding, warning and protectivesigns that I mentioned in the preface of this book. Indirectly, the constraints look out for you so that you do not stagnate thepurposes of God for your life or abort destiny prematurely. DivineConstraints facilitate genuine intimacy and spiritual maturity asthe fruits of the Spirit develops in you. The fruit of the Spirit actsas your sure protector and great facilitator. Constraints are alsocautionary warnings as the spiritual fruits matured that help you tomake informed and right decisions with the right motives, done inthe right way for the right results and outcome. 27
The Altar of SignificanceChoices: Dead-End or Destiny! So far, so good, for the Chosen Child, the chances and constraintshe experience are within the remit of God, whilst Choices comeunder the reader’s remit. You determine your future by thechoices you make or do not make. Many have lost purpose, manyhave stagnated and many have lost hope and given up; hencethe blight of helplessness and hopelessness that we experiencednowadays, which the enemy has hijacked and usurped in steeringpeople to do evil and terrible things all in the name of religiousbeliefs and dogma. At this point the choice is yours,zzLife or Death - Samson Chose the Death Track instead of a Life of Consecration.zzChange or Decay, - The Prodigal Son Chose Change rather than Decay.zzCalling or Comfort, - Esther, Deborah & Naomi arose and chose their calling instead of comfort.zzThriving or Surviving - Joseph & Daniel Chose to thrive than be derailed into Insignificance.zzDestiny or Dead-End - Nehemiah & Jacob chose destiny venture and pursuits.Choices, Chances, Constraints & The Challenging Variables ofLife:Let’s briefly recall: Life is a destiny travellingMM uphill Journey,MM with a Divine Purpose,28
