ForewordI had the privilege of reading the manuscript of Pastor Kayode Olukoga’slatest book: The Altar of Significance. It is a powerful book that points thereader to the secrets of success that are often ignored by man in the pursuitof his life journey. Creation is not accidental. There is a Creator. In the same way thecreated cannot fulfil the purpose of the Creator without the latter. Jesussaid “...without me, you can do nothing”. John 15:5. Hence, to truly fulfil thepurpose of the Creator, the created must connect or reconnect himselfto His Creator. There lies the secret to man’s true existence and realsignificance. This book clearly shows us how to connect with our Creator in orderto collect from Him. The Altar is where spiritual transactions take placeand man is not just body and soul. He is also a spirit. Life’s battles are notprimarily physical but they are spiritual. Until you win life’s battles in thespirit, you cannot vanquish in the physical. It is important to realise thatbefore the day on earth, there has been a day in heaven. Job 1: 6, 13 Pastor Olukoga, in this powerful book tells the reader about the Altar asthe spiritual power base of the true believer and ultimately the true achiever. The author has shared with us powerfully the requirements of daily andcontinuous sacrifice we must make on the Altar in order to command thefire of response from God that will assure and ensure a significantly fulfilledlife of purpose. In a world of tribulations where the enemy seeks to alterman’s destiny at the slightest opportunity, a vibrant, well serviced Altar isneeded to overcome him. If you want to be spiritually empowered by the Divine Agent, the HolySpirit, you need this book for a deeper and better understanding of howto access His treasure. For salvation to translate to significance; for destinyto lead to destination of fulfilled purpose, you need this powerful material. You need to dig into this book, digest it and deploy the timely principles vii
contained therein. The Patriarchs, who lived, fulfilled lives of significance,Abraham, Isaac and Jacob all raised Altars to their Creator; offeredcontinuous sacrifices on their altars and then enjoyed the benefits andblessings of divine fire from God. Pastor Olukoga tells us to go and do likewise and shows us the wayto do it. Read his book, heed his counsel and you will head towards yourdestined life of significanceGod bless you richly.Leke SanusiSenior Pastor, Victory House, London, UKCoach, Mentor & Conference Speaker,Regional Pastor, RCCG Europe Mainland Region 2, Spainviii

EndorsementThe Altar of Significance by the author is a timely needed material for thisseason. As a sequel to The Call to Significance, it helps us to appreciateour present location whilst giving helpful tips to enable us to becomesignificant. Over the years, I have always said that “it is better not to be, than to beand be useless”. I highly, unreservedly recommend The Altar of Significanceas a much needed compendium in the pursuit of significance, as everythingrises and falls on The “Altar”. Thank you, Pastor Kayode for this effort.Dr. David Sola OludoyiPresident, Shinning Light GroupRegional Pastor, RCCG Europe Mainland Region 3Senior Pastor, RCCG Royal ConnectionsIt’s a privilege to endorse this life-changing manuscript which has theprofound capacity to challenge anyone who reads it to aim at becomingsignificant in life. This book will disregard one to critically examine one’s lifeand assess if we are living or surviving. There are many books in print butnot all captivates to the point that you decide there and then to draw closerto the Almighty God “as the deer pants for the waters.”I believe that evenyoung people who are starting the journey of life will benefit tremendouslyfrom this book as a manual for the journey of life. It serves as a manual forlife’s journey to significance so that the mistakes of their parents will not berepeated in their lives. Pastor Kayode did an excellent job as a teacher ofcalling a spade a spade: you are either living, fulfilling God’s mandate foryour life or just existing. It is my prayer that anyone who reads this book willexamine their lives and determines to turn back to the Author and Finisherof our faith. He alone has the blueprint for our lives and can make our livessuccessful and significant. Thank you dear Pastor and welcome to yourgolden years.Kathryn Olajumoke OlumoyegunPastor, DaySpring Chapel, Grays, UK xi
Many believers today are living an average unsatisfactory Christian life andare looking for alternatives or solutions. Unfortunately the solutions beingoffered out there are very temporal. This book actually opens the believerto a lasting solution to life’s challenges - which is at the Altar. Everyone must now understand that in order to fulfill and accomplishdestiny, and to significantly contribute to the overall purpose of God thereis a need to revisit the altar being built in each life. For all you know, everylife erects an altar, the difference is in the type of altar and what it is beingused for or the part it plays in fulfilling eternal purpose. The altar is the principal place of deep communion with the Creator -The Almighty God. It is the place of sacrifice and for the believer who willfulfill purpose and accomplish destiny, the sacrifice must attract Heaven’sattention. This book explains the need for an altar in everyone’s life; for it is atthe altar you commune with and hear the voice of God and it is there youreceive the instructions you need to thrive and maximize your God givenpotentials. This book titled “The Altar of Significance” which is a follow up of thebook titled “The Call to Significance” by the same author – Pastor KayodeOlukoga (PKO), contains insights and nuggets required to fulfill divinedestiny. This book has joined the reserved list of books that I started to readand was unable to drop until I finished it. The insight, nuggets and the truthbeing communicated will warm the heart of all who have discovered theirGod given assignment and those who are at a crossroad in their journeyof faith. A unique quality of this book is its compact size, with outstandingrevelation on every page. I recommend this book for every serious minded individual and promisethat you will not feel like you are wasting time.Akin LaosunLead Pastor/TrusteeGates of Praise International Centre, Grays, Essex, UKxii
To be significant is to carry value inside and outside, and it is also to besought after and to stand out. A life can be significant if it solves moreproblems than it creates. A partner can be significant if he adds more tothe partnership than he takes away. A church can be significant if it leavesa community better than it met it. And finally, a book can be significant, ifit creates more knowledge and takes away more ignorance. And I boldlydeclare: this is a significant book. The Author, Pastor Kayode Olukoga has delved deep into the fountainof knowledge to educate his readers on what it means to be significant, how to be significant and more importantly, how to remain significant.A deep research has been done into the different dimensions of significanceand I believe with all my heart that anytime spent to read this book will betime well spent.Ezekiel Leke OjoLead PastorRCCG Solid Rock Phoenix ArizonaIn the “Altar of Significance”, the author brilliantly makes a solid case abouthow you can live a significant life and masterfully walk you through the keycomponents required to make you arrive there. He also uses the metaphorof a car driver on a journey to a destination called significance and highlightsthe necessary factors required to get there safely and on time. I found the book to be highly refreshing, very insightful and clearlyengaging. The “Altar of Significance” definitely is a game changer. Generally, I recommend it to everyone who wants more out of life anddesires to thrive than rather just survive. Specifically, I believe that students, youths, business and career oriented persons and entrepreneurs wouldbenefit immensely from this book”Francis UgbeikwuSenior PastorRCCG Breakthrough Chapel, London xiii
I had an initial trepidation regarding what this book is all about, particularlyas I could not immediately figure out the precise meaning of the title. However, after reading the introduction I had a vague idea of its purpose. Chapter Three is what the author used to drive home the book’s title, and it is in Chapter Three that I found the greatest factors that can makeany man thrive in life as opposed to merely surviving. Developing an altarwhere you commune with God on a regular basis and at particular locationhas helped several successful Christian, it is also one of the examples thatour Lord Jesus left for us, as He retreated to the mountains and secludedlocations to be in close contact with His source - God the Father. This habitand the ingredients have also helped me personally. In addition, I commend the notion of constantly pushing or turning‘the wheel of Progress’ for continued and higher life of significance asexpounded by the author in Chapter Five. It can only lead to a life ofsignificance. This book is an easy read that touches on key ingredients for a highlysuccessful life, and I therefore commend the author’s work, as well asendorse it for publication and reading by as many as wish to excel in life.Cornelius B Alalade PhDHead, RCCG School of MissionsLondon, UKxiv
I have known the author for a long time now. Within this long time of closeinteraction with him, he has been able to demonstrate that he is an asset tothe body of Christ. He is highly intelligent and shows a lot of promise as adeep analyst in his mode of expression. He approaches his calling with confidence and maturity. His latentintellectual ability very frequently manifests itself in his writings. Aboveall, he is consistently logical. All of the above stated qualities manifest inthis piece of work. His brief of arguments as to how to leave a significantmark for the oncoming generation is sound and above all his analysis andconclusion are scriptural compliant. I therefore recommend that ‘Altar of Significance’ and his otherpublications in the series as a must read for everyone who value theirpurpose here on earth and wish to make a success of same.Stephen K RotimiSenior PastorRCCG KKT, Essex, UK xv

IntroductionThe year is 2015, and the blight of helplessness and hopelessness in the world is endemic and it can be evidently seen and observedtoday particularly amongst the youth. All forms of terrorism are at its peak. The kind of peace we once enjoyed in the last twenty five years is fasteroding; safety and security have risen to the top of countries agenda inensuring that their citizens are kept safe and can go about normal day today activities without fear. In addition, reckless living is on the increase, centred on all forms of physical abuse [drugs, alcohol, sexual misconductetc] and lately cyber abuse, attacks and terrorism. The world has becomedangerous and the value system has changed and in most recent timeswarped for evil, erroneous and satanic objectives and gains. In addition, the prolonged negative economic influence and slow recovery has nothelped matters. Joblessness & idleness increase amongst graduates and non-graduates,meaning that people are embracing these warped values from both religiousand non religious groups on the basis of offering them help and hope.Brexit in UK of 2016 has further fuelled the uncertainty creating economicpanic across Europe. However, True Help and Hope in life are with the “LifeTutor” at the significant place; which for the purpose of this book is called“The Altar”. Everybody needs one; and it is your own personal place forrevival, renewal, refreshment and rejuvenation. The Life Tutor [God] himselfwill source and sustain you so that you can thrive gloriously instead ofsurviving helplessly. You will not resign to survive; on the contrary, you willrise up to thrive. So to the hopeless and helpless, the disappointed and thedepressed, to the trapped and the stagnant, the lonely and the downcast, the perplexed and the frustrated; when you maximise your presence at theAltar, you will know that you are too loved to be abandoned, too valuable to 1
The Altar of Significancebe neglected, too connected to be frustrated, too defended to be a victim, and too blessed to be stressed. Hopelessness comes from being withoutGod in this wretched and complex world, so know this Dear Reader,MM There is something God has in mind for you, because He is your SourceMM There is a purpose and plan to be fulfilled, because He is your CreatorMM There is a place God is taking you, because He is your GuideMM There is something that God wants to do in you and through you, because He is your ResourceMM There is something God wants you to possess because He is your RewarderMM There is a sacrifice that must be made, because He is your ExampleMM There is a particular kind of person God want you to be, because He is Omniscient;MM and most significantly;MM There is the chosen man amongst the called within the crowd that God is always and constantly looking for to advance and maximise his kingdom objectives and agenda here on earth, because that is his ultimate for you. In short, your destiny will be accomplished; and His purpose will be achieved; hence there is no need to give up on life and there is also no room for hopelessness, just come to the Life Tutor and you will receive the hope and help required that will radically alter your life, so that you can thrive as before in spite of all the negative influences that abound this 21st century. Your life will be beautified again and more so that you can progress to the next level. The five short chapters will nourish you in maximising your presence at your personal altar. These questions now arise.MM Will you position yourself to be Chosen for your Unique Mandate or Mission?MM Are you ready to be sourced and sustained for this Specific & Unique Ultimate Call?2
CHAPTER 1 The Chosen for SignificanceWho can be Chosen, Why & What you need to know?Life is an uphill journey lived in stages and made up in seasons. To each stage, there are things that need to be accomplished. Each stage in thecommittal pursuit of personal goals will require diligence, discipline andsacrifice. The Creator is willing and interested in those who are ready tofulfil life’s ultimate call; hence, [2Chronicles 16:9a For the eyes of the Lordrun to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in thebehalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him] At the moment or point of salvation, there is the call of God to repentancefrom sin and turning from the world, however happening simultaneouslyalso, the salvation decision, positions and aligns the Called to his/herpersonal divine destiny and true divine purpose in life. Many are called, few are chosen, simply because higher degree of commitment, sacrifice, focus, and diligence is required to move on from the initial Call of Salvationto the Specific & Ultimate Call of Life’s fulfilment. 3
The Altar of Significance The Initial & General Call is what average people operate in life mostly, hence they don’t progress their call to the Ultimate; it is not so for thediligent chosen one. The chosen are eagles that are ready to climb to theultimate peak of achievement. Beyond the Call to Christ known as InstantSalvation, there is that which Paul refers to in his discussion in [Philippians2:12] which I will call Progressive Salvation] stated thus: Wherefore, mybeloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but nowmuch more in my absence; work out your own salvation with fear andtrembling]. Average and Idle personalities don’t work it out thoroughly fromthe salvation decision point to the destiny attaining and purpose fulfillingpoint. Salvation must be progressed and sustained throughout life untilearth’s departure or rapture [whichever comes first]. Progressive Salvationis what seals and sustains you through earthly pursuit up to eternity. Hence, let us now briefly capture our discussion so far.MM Common Assignments are for the Multitude or Crowd; Unique Assignments for the ChosenMM Common Assignments for the Average Person, Outstanding Assignments for the Chosen PersonMM Ordinary Assignments for the Average Man; Extraordinary Assignments for the Chosen ManMM The Average Man is a Spectator; the Chosen & Ultimate Man goes on to be a Player and a Champion.MM Comfortability is the position of the Mediocre Man; Cutting & Leading Edge is the position and preference of the Chosen & Ultimate Man.4
Chapter 1 The Chosen for SignificanceWhat you need to knowIn progressing to the ultimate in life, it is crucial that a person takescognisance of the following listed below. They are simply the factualtruths of life and must be rigorously addressed to ensure the chosen canprogress his/her call to the fullest. The promises we have in scripture attestto the fact that God without any shadow of doubt wants our life to be longaccording to Psalms 91:16 however, the life will be more enriching, pleasantand rewarding if it is also;MM Full : not engaged in idleness, frivolity, futility and vanityMM Fruitful, : promising, productive, profitable and positively influencing lives and humanityMM Fulfilled & : attaining a state of well being; coupled with intense gratitude and satisfactionMM Flourishing : enjoying life’s fullest in strength, health and wealth in the spirit, body and soul. Furthermore, the guiding signs for the person who wants to thrive inlife and constantly fulfil his/her ultimate call are given below. Ensure youunderstand and pay close attention to them. They would assist and help youto maximise life with minimal loss and damage. So in achieving the ultimatein life, as highlighted and discussed in my preface, here are the seven listed“Road - Guiding Signs” in the uphill journey of life. So, if you are to thrive;strive to understand and excel in them. 5

Esther’s destiny was to becomea queen, preserving the Jews of the time was her purpose. Becoming theGovernor of the returned Jews was Nehemiah’s destiny, rebuilding thewalls of Jerusalem was his purpose. So in this journey of life, Seek first thePurposes of God in right standing; and your Destiny and Influence will beAdded, Accelerated, and Actualised unto you.6
Chapter 1 The Chosen for Significance So as we move to the next chapter; my desire, wish and prayer for youis that you will act wisely so that 2Chronicles 16:9b will not be a fulfilmentin your life; which reads “Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore fromhenceforth you would have wars.” Consult God and you have Miraclesinstead of Miseries, Gain instead of Pain. So, how can you progress yourcall from the general to the specific and then to the ultimate? It is only byMM Holding to your Source – God; because He was there in the past before the beginning started for youMM Sticking with your Friend – Jesus; because He is the ever present and faithful companion for the present and immediate needs and challengesMM Listening to your Counsellor – Holy Spirit – He is constant inspirer and revealer of truth for a brighter and glorious future 7
The Altar of Significance SUMMARY & CLOSE zzThe Hallmark of a Chosen Man is the ability to maintain focus, diligence & commitment in progressing and advancing his unique calling from the Specific to the Ultimate. zzThe Chosen Man who knows his Mandate is devoid of Envious Comparison, Needless Competition & Insecure Relationships.8
CHAPTER 2 The Agent of SignificanceWho is the Agent?Illumination is the process of becoming visible after being concealed. It is the process of coming into existence or prominence. Illumination carrieswith it the ability to disclose, to unfold, to appear, to expose, to publish, toshowcase, to broadcast and to publicise. So, at the point of second birthexperience [Instant Salvation], the inner spirit is renewed and reconnectedto its original creative source [God]; and from then the chosen child of Godis illuminated and opened to the inexhaustible ability, capacity and powerof the Holy Spirit to reach and attain the Ultimate Fulfilment in life’s pursuit. The Holy Spirit is multi-dimensional in his ability and capacity as itemisedbelow. The Divine agent when sought and consulted is capable of:MM disclosing the plan and purposes of God to the recipient;MM unfolding the gifts, potential and natural inclinations that lies within;MM bringing to light what is hidden from natural or normal sensory perceptionMM exposing all positive intents of God and also negative & destructive pretence of Satan 9
The Altar of SignificanceMM publishing the revelatory facts and truth for safety and sustenance in life’s journeyMM showcasing exceptional attributes and qualities as and when neededMM ultimately broadcasting and publicising the Glory of God in the life of a Christian. Furthermore, Illumination enables the new man in Christ to emerge. Inessence Illumination enables the Emergence of the Chosen Man, displayingthe beauty and glory of the Lord. Proverbs 4:18 states: But the path of thejust is as shinning light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.The fulfilment of this scripture can only be possible with the Divine Agent. He determines the steps of the called and chosen for beautification. It isthe reason why Matthew 5:16 will be achievable which reads: Let your lightso shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify yourFather which is heaven. The Holy Spirit commissioned and guided ourSaviour and He was there to sustain and empower him throughout theredemptive plan journey.Primary ObjectiveThe primary objective of the divine agent is to counsel you in the “Willof God”. He cannot do otherwise. He will counsel you for your entirejourney in life whilst sourcing, imputing and contributing significantly toyour improvement, progress and advancement. Recalling the seven factualareas that I discussed in Chapter 1, the Divine Agent [Holy Spirit] is the:MM Companion for the Uphill JourneyMM Revealer of True PurposeMM Establisher of Destiny RelationshipsMM Reinforcer of Positive CharacterMM Inspirer of Intelligent WisdomMM Mediator for Perfect PeaceMM Agent of Global Influence10
Chapter 2 The Agent of SignificancePlus FactorThe divine agent is the greatest and ultimate catalytic and energetic plusfactor in operating, blending and manoeuvring the seven factual areas of lifeitemised for your convenience below. So, how can a Man Arise and Shine? Itis only by the enabling, limitless, inexhaustible and multi-dimensional powerof the Holy Spirit. In summary: Life is a destiny travelling and travailingMM uphill Journey,MM with a Divine Purpose,MM that involves RelationshipsMM requires Character to accomplish,MM must be navigated with WisdomMM followed and pursued with Peace,MM for the long term view of community and humanity Influence;+MM Holy Spirit: John 3:34 whilst being constantly sourced & resourced by the Limitless Power of the Holy Spirit John 3:34 [NIV]: For the one whom God has sent speaks the wordsof God. For God gives the Spirit without limit. The person, who does notwant to be limited, needs to hearken to the limitless Spirit of God. Themoment a man stops fighting for what matters most in life; at that instancehe settles for the norm, routine and mundane. The man dies on the insidewhilst he lives. He resigns in life and begins to exist. However with thedivine agent, his spirit is constantly quickened to achieve God’s bestand ultimate according to John 6:63a: It is the spirit that quickeneth, theflesh profiteth nothing. Hence, the battle over the flesh must be foughtand won by the Spirit of God; consequently and inevitably, the “Will ofGod” begins to exercise itself over the “Self Will” of the Chosen Man. 11
The Altar of Significance SUMMARY & CLOSE zzAcceptance of and Fellowship with the Divine Agent is a safe, steady, sure and secure option for progressive acceleration, successful attainment and eventual glorification. zzIgnorance of the Divine Agent is unsafe, perilous and counter- productive for the Chosen Man.12
CHAPTER 3 The Altar of SignificanceWhere will the Holy Transaction take place?Following on progressively from the first two chapters, the Called and Chosen child of God coupled with Holy Spirit; of utmost necessityrequires a stable, sustained and vibrant Altar for a productive and fulfillinglife of good success, significance and influence. Dear Reader, there is apromising fulfilling future and a glorifying Place that God is taking you;however there is a special, chosen, unique and particular kind of PersonHe needs; that can maximise the place when they get there. So in orderto reach the place in life the Lord will need to instruct, inspire and guideyou through day to day life’s roughest terrain and diabolical challenges, sothat you can make good success of your life. Many notable patriarchs likeAbraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Jeremiah, Paul, and the list goeson; are proven examples. There is a present place however, in the hereand now; that you must ensure you cultivate the daily habit of visiting forconstant resource and support. It is the place of your Personal Altar wherethe seat is your heart. 13
The Altar of Significance In view of the above, the Lord wants to grow, teach, instruct, train, developand most of all mature you so that you can take your rightful unique place inthe pursuit of fulfilling your destiny, whilst He achieves His purpose for yourlife. In essence, as I explained in the closing chapters of my previous book:“The Call to Significance”: the journey of life is twin-fold lumped into everychosen child of God, and it is always 1/ the fulfilment of personal destinyand 2/the achievement of God’s predestined purpose. For exampleJoseph, becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt was his destiny, howeverpreserving the Jewish race was his Purpose; the same goes for Moses andEsther. Jesus was destined as the King of all Kings and Advocate; howeverSalvation through Redemption for mankind was His purpose. Fact, Godalways uses your destiny to fulfil His divine purpose. They are mutuallyinclusive for every bona fide child of God.What about the Altar? The heart is the primary place where God meets man, and man encountersGod. It is in the interest of the reader to build your Personal Altar. It is aspiritual place by nature in your heart, where you receive daily dose ofrefreshments and encouragement. It is place where you commune withGod, as you grow, increase and mature spiritually. That is why He knockson the door of your heart in Revelation 3:20 [Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him and he with me]. The spiritual place of your communion can then be further enhancedby having a fixed physical place in your home or office, or a fixed placearound you, where you can go and obtain a refreshing time from hispresence. There you can have your heart soothed, healed, refreshed andstrengthened to deal with life’s challenges. Ensure it is a place where youwill not be distracted so that you can commune with utmost concentration. For most successful and significant people that you know, the heart iswhere they receive conviction of God’s calling for destiny and purpose.14
Chapter 3 The Altar of Significance “To be Called” is to be moving always and constantly from one place/position/or goal toward another; to move from where you are to someplace in the future; or to be moving from one level of glory to anotherlevel. So, the question now arises, how do you source, sustain and keepprogressing in this constant move without stagnancy and complacency? Itis only if you are constantly refuelled and regularly nourished in your heart,by the divine agent: the Holy Spirit. Reader, please note that when Mancalls you, God is not duty bound to resource you; but when God calls you,He is unflinchingly committed to be your constant resource. So; what aboutthe Altar of Significance? It is where the Call of God becomes the Pull ofDestiny. Read On!The Call, The Pull & The FullMM Chapter 1: The Chosen is initially called to Salvation, and ultimately over time to a “Specific Call”MM Chapter 2: The Chosen then desperately needs the unfailing Help of the Agent: the Holy SpiritMM Chapter 3: The Heart is the primary place where “The Called” and “The Agent” meet to harmonise. The Altar of Significance That is why it is difficult and almost impossible for a spirit-filled child ofGod, to deviate from the plan of God, because He is constantly constrainedand pulled towards his destined purpose. That is why the spirit-filled, calledman, convinced and persuaded is unstoppable in living the Full Life of God,because overflowing grace is always available according to John 1:16 “Andof his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.” In essence, theFull Life in God is experienced as we respond to the call and the pull ofdestiny, whilst constantly being resourced by the fullness of God’s grace. The Altar, the Sacrifice and the FireLet’s take a crucial and important proven and tested hint from Elijah andthe contest at Mount Carmel in [1Kings18:30-39], we notice the three keyelements above which are often evident throughout scriptures when menwant to ceremonially worship, dedicate or relate with God in Bible days;it requires the Altar, the Sacrifice and the Fire. In verse 30, Elijah repairedthe Altar: reader, for a rewarding fellowship and friendship with God, Isuggest that you repair your relational altar with God and live intenselyand obediently according to His Word. In verse 33, Elijah placed theSacrifice which is the bullock on the Altar. Child of God, unrelenting andconsistent sacrifices of time spent with God in solitude is a must; patiencewith God for Him to work out the best is crucial, and also your energy mustbe expended in godly pursuits. Divinely inspired projects and assignmentmust be pursued, money must be invested in upward investment and gifts, skills and talents must be sown into laudable God-given revelation, vision, vocation and ambition. These sacrifices are needed to attract heavensattention. In verse 38a: Then the fire fell. This is the heavenly response thatcomes when things are done in the right way [verse 31-33]; at the right time[verse 36]; with right motive of glorifying God, [verse 37] In the day to day life operations of a child of God, the Altar of the heart isthe “Place” of inspired revelational divine instructions, exclusive intelligentinformation and strategic guidance and direction that brings rewards, returns and profiting; the Sacrifice is the spiritual, material, mental and16

In summary, zzthe Altar is the place of Consecration to Godzzthe Sacrifice is the cost of Connection with Godzzthe Fire is the responsive Communication from God So the reader is encouraged and challenged to prioritise daily regularfellowship with God, by separating and submitting himself consistently untoGod for timely and responsive communication and intervention. So why the need for an AltarYou need the Altar so that you can develop intimacy with God. TheAltar is a place of spiritual growth where God develops in you maturityand malleability. Maturity comes from fellowship and Intimacy with God.Malleability comes as a result of brokenness, remoulding and reshapingby God to bring about a noble character and honourable vessel in hischildren. It is this daily compounding of this fellowship and intervention thatproduces strong character to achieve the ultimate in life. A whole book will not be enough to inform you of the inexhaustiblelist why a dynamic and vibrant personal Altar is a crucial need for everychild of God. It is the place where you work out your salvation with fearand trembling according to [Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, asye have obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in myabsence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling], and itis the place where personal, spiritual, physical, intellectual and interactivesocial development, growth and increase occurs, if a person is serious andcommitted to personal development like Jesus was. [Luke 2:52]. The Altaris the place where: 17

There is no other place where you can maximiseyour life than at your Altar [both Spiritual and Physical], that is why I call itthe Altar of Significance. It is the place where silence, solitary and solitude of heart can take place. There is too much at stake for the child of God who will not communeprivately with God; a place where the river of living water will flow for youto nourish and sustain you. Also, the Altar of Significance is where spiritual 19
The Altar of Significancematurity occurs; following consistent spiritual fellowship with God; whichprogressively compounds and births persuasion and conviction in you, resulting in daily increase and growth and over time metamorphoses intospiritual maturity. It is Spiritual Maturity in a man that provides conviction, promotes purity;perpetuate godly priorities and produces discernment. In the event andsad absence of spiritual maturity, what you see is spiritual activity devoid ofspiritual intimacy. May I remind you once again the words of Blaise Pascal?“All of men’s miseries and complications in life are derived from not beingable to sit in a quiet room alone.” The current generation and its everadvancing technological development are been dangerously distractedwith such gadgets and sometimes derailed in their pursuits, because theyare unable to sit alone and reflect on life issues. For such, they are unableto enjoy the benefits of such quiet moments; which when not addressedhas great propensity of wrecking faith, producing immature adults andside-steps their true purpose. Lastly, it is at the Altar of Significance, that you fight and war the goodwarfare daily; the inevitable Battle of Life courageously; defeating theenemies of your spiritual growth. At your Altar, you pull down and defeatsatanic altars. This daily battle is fought alone with God, if you are to thriveand live life to the full; all you need is courage and determination. Thereis a saying that goes thus: “Without courage, you are not living, you areonly hiding”. May I also add that “Without courage, you are not living, youare only Existing; without courage, a man cannot thrive, at best He canonly survive.” At the Altar of Significance, Spiritual Importance drives awayCarnal Urgency, because God drives the agenda of your life, not the carnalthirst of the flesh or the unholy desire of well intentioned people aroundyou. In conclusion, the ability to implement and execute the steps belowwill maximise your presence at the Altar effectively and efficiently. Thisis what differentiates between those who thrive in their destiny andpurpose from those who merely survive in despondency, disillusion and20

CHAPTER 4The Chances & Choices for SignificanceThe proverbial saying goes thus Choices, not chances determine the fulfilment of destiny and purpose. At this crucial juncture, I wantto briefly highlight the important relevance of “Chances”, “Constraints”and “Choices” in our continued discussion; as you strive and thrive forsubstance in God for your life, in order to move with divine speed andsupport for eventual sound success. Let us recall and summarise ourdiscussion so far and also project forward since we are nearing the end.So what are all the Chapters about?zzChapter 1: What you are In Christ? The Altar of SignificancezzChapter 3: Where will it happen for me? The Solitary Influential Place of your Private Altar of SignificancezzChapter 4: How will Success & Significance Happen for you - Read on! Firstly, let’s grasp the candid fact that Ultimate Assignments carry withit a greater and wider influence over and beyond your immediate family. This is so because God is always interested in reaching out for greatercoverage to mankind. Jesus’ influence is still extending to humanity evenafter 2000 years that he came. Such should be the legacy of a bona fidechild of God: like Father, like son. It is no wonder Apostle Paul achievedsimilar influence and he admonishes us in [Philippians 2:5 – Let this mindbe in you, which was also in Christ Jesus]; so if we have the mind ofChrist, we are positioned to achieve what He achieved and even more.[New Living Translation puts it directly to us: “You must have the sameattitude that Christ Jesus had]. Beloved reader, we are compelled to havethe same attitude and purpose with a humble mind so that we can movefrom the shadows of comfort and mediocrity to the substantial place ofultimate influence, because we are all called and chosen for a specific andunique call; which many never fulfil or aspire to attain.ChancesIn view of our discussion so far, God is the primary and principal source ofglorious and global influence: starting from inspiring the vision, fuelling ourpassion, rolling out the plan, directing our paths and determining our steps. In addition, in this wonderful and triumphant journey of life, He divinely, wittingly and deliberately introduces weaves and twists of great “Chances”[opportunities] that are capable of strategically and progressively movinghis chosen child to the next phase, next level or seasons of life; providedsuch opportunities are not missed or lost due to spiritual ignorance andimmaturity. This is the reason why our time at the Significance Altar must24
Chapter 4 The Chances & Choices for Significancebe a priority and conscientiously maximised with all diligence. God isinterested in our progress and that is why if He is the originator and sourceof any plan, He will also ensure that He orchestrates and resource his plan;failing that, He is not duty bound to source and resource.ConstraintsWith God’s chances come some constraints that wisely position you, favourably guide you and direct you to achieving great goals in life. Hisconstraints keep you on the straight and narrow. His constraint watches overyou, protects you, nurtures you, grows you, so that you are able to achievewhat you set out to achieve in life. The constraints are the guiding, warningand protective signs that I mentioned in the preface of this book. Indirectly, the constraints look out for you so that you do not stagnate the purposes ofGod for your life or abort destiny prematurely. Divine Constraints facilitategenuine intimacy and spiritual maturity as the fruits of the Spirit develops inyou. The fruit of the Spirit acts as your sure protector and great facilitator.Constraints are also cautionary warnings as the spiritual fruits matured thathelp you to make informed and right decisions with the right motives, donein the right way for the right results and outcome.Choices: Dead-End or Destiny! So far, so good, for the Chosen Child, the chances and constraints heexperience are within the remit of God, whilst Choices come under thereader’s remit. You determine your future by the choices you make or donot make. Many have lost purpose, many have stagnated and many havelost hope and given up; hence the blight of helplessness and hopelessnessthat we experienced nowadays, which the enemy has hijacked and usurpedin steering people to do evil and terrible things all in the name of religiousbeliefs and dogma. 25
