john tobey, principal John Tobey brings a unique energy to event planning. With more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and a reputation for meticulously executing his creative visions, Tobey has cultivated an unparalleled expertise in memorable and extraordinary event production. As an observer of the evolving event business in the Rocky Mountain Region, Tobey detected a void - there were no consultants who could manage the soup-to-nuts details of special events. Backed by a wealth of contacts in the catering and design world, Tobey launched JOHN TOBEY event design, setting a personal goal to exceed all the expectations of his clients. His goal is complimented by the desire to engender great anticipation for the unexpected. Prior to founding JOHN TOBEY event design, John was the owner and CEO ofEventeur, a highly-respected Denver-based event production company that produced galas for luxury brands andlarge corporations such as Nordstrom, Exclusive Resorts, Cartier, Neiman Marcus and Janus Capital; fundraisers forphilanthropic organizations including the Jeremy Bloom Foundation, Freedom Service Dogs, and the Denver ArtMuseum; and large-scale nationally-televised events including the production of several functions for the 2008Democratic National Convention. In conjunction with many of these events, Tobey has worked with a variety ofcelebrities including Seal, Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, Chris Isaac, Jessica Biel, Bob Newhart, Lauren Bacall as well asevent trendsetters such as Colin Cowie, Oprah among others.Before founding Eventeur, Tobey’s experience in the event industry was broad and varied, spanning many facets ofthe profession. Tobey served as Director of Food and Beverage at the Country Club at Castle Pines in Castle Rock,Colorado; an Event Designer at the renowned catering company, Epicurean Culinary Group; and Head of Conciergeand Sales at the Ritz-Carlton-Phoenix, Arizona. In today’s competitive market, distinguishing acompany and its product or service through events takes creativity and detailed execution. Gourmet meals,elaborate decorations and unusual collateral are expected, but it’s the personalized touch of an event that wins acustomer or client’s loyalty. Past events with distinguished details include: In 2008, JOHN TOBEY event design produced the maiden soiree, a wedding, at the highly-anticipated Ritz- Carlton Denver, Colo. As part of the festivities, JOHN TOBEY event design arranged for the bride and groom to partake in the hotel’s ribbon-cutting and afterwards stay at the hotel’s luxurious honeymoon suite, ushering in the tradition for hundreds of newlyweds to come. In 2010, JOHN TOBEY event design was contracted by The Four Seasons Hotel Denver to introduce the hotel to Denver society through a series of events for six months during its opening. Tobey was also charged with producing its first event, a rare watch fete for renowned French jeweler Cartier. JOHN TOBEY event design artfully showcased the brand’s stunning jewelry and watches, while also shining a light on the beautiful, new setting of the Four Seasons Denver for a distinguished list of guests. As a gift for special clients entertained in a corporate suite at a Denver Broncos game, monogrammed cashmere scarves was a win for the night. For an extraordinary kickoff to a corporate event, JOHN TOBEY event design arranged to have invitations hand-delivered by tuxedoed messengers. In 2012, JOHN TOBEY event design was charged with creating an experiential marketing booth design that was inviting and positioned Exclusive Resorts as the premier world-wide destination residential rental. This hands-on experience allowed guests to enter and relax in a luxurious mock home design while perusing through all other destinations on the unique 55” iPad-style designed within a coffee table set in front of the guests. An interactive, custom concept sales tool positioning Exclusive Resorts comforts of a model home with the universal tool presented on a grand scale mirroring the concept of the company. JT ED was selected to design and produce the inaugural and now Annual Cherry Creek North Celebrate Fashion Event for over 1500 guests on Fillmore Street Plaza in Cherry Creek North. The scope of the project involves over a dozen vendors, street closures, special event and F& B City permits and numerous days of set up and event strike.
