INDUCTION DAY 2022 HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR MIDSHIPMEN Parents and Loved Ones—Welcome! Induction Day is a day you will never forget. While some of you will not make the trip to USNA, don’t worry, your midshipman is in good hands and will be well cared for over the next 4 years. I know because 42 years ago, I took the same oath of office and embarked on an incredible journey. While there will be ups and downs, the downs are typically forgotten and only the ups are remembered. The friendships that will be created during your midshipman’s time at the Academy will be among the strongest they will ever experience. Those friendships will be made among their classmates, sponsors, faculty and staff members, just to name a few. And those leaving a positive lasting impression on their Class will be inducted as Honorary Classmates at their graduation. This past year, one of the Naval Academy Business Service Division’s (NABSD’s) very own, Ms. Mae Blue, achieved the distinction of Honorary Graduate! Mae is vested in being a great example for each and every midshipman, as we all are, in NABSD. We are all here to support your midshipman each and every day. Whether we are doing their laundry, cutting their hair, or even making them their favorite latte, we are doing it to make their experience at USNA a positive one. Your patronage through your shopping and dining experiences allows NABSD to contribute financially to the Midshipmen Welfare Fund. In doing so, our profits are helping support a host of extracurricular activities, club sports, and other quality of life events important to keep the morale of your midshipman high throughout their time at the Academy. INDUCTION DAY 2022 SPECIAL HOURS AND ACCESS TO THE YARD ACCESS TO THE YARD To visit your midshipman on the Yard, you have many options to gain access as noted below • Walk through the pedestrian gate located at Gate 1 and show a valid government ID or passport (sunrise to 7:00pm) • Drive onto the Yard with a valid credential (Military Active Duty, CAC, Military Dependent ID, Military Retiree ID, DOD CAC) • DBIDS Credential (Defense Biometrics Identification System) o DBIDS allows for unescorted driving privileges on the Yard o DBIDS access is deactivated for high visitation periods (ex.
