Continued from previous page……….As part of the first Intergenerational program we ran an SROI (Social ReturnOn Investment) Although the number of participants was too small to drawany funding, it did highlight the potential value of this activity . Analysis of benefitOverall budget Overall social impact Budget : social im- Net benefit pact £ £ 1 : 267.98 £200 53,595 53,395This is an exceptional return rate (anything over 1:1 is considered good), andreflects the significant numbers of benefits this particular group receivedfrom this project, and the negligible costs associated with it.The strongest benefits were reflected in significant wellbeing gains inparticipants feeling more connected with themselves, their neighbourhoodand others. 60% reported increased talking to others in their area and animprovement in their friendships and relationships, so by the end of thisproject all participants (100%) agreed they regularly talked to theirneighbours and all either agreed or strongly agreed that they were contentwith their friendships and relationships.
We have supported a number of local projects working with 20+ children on central’s Holyrood estate. Signing up children in the Central area has always been a challenge so we have changed our tactics. Working with Jean Broad, Jill Pantany and Gary Martyn (Wardens & Cleaner) we have run 2 very successful projects to engage with the local children and families.. ECO Project culminating in 2 new bins being in- stalled in the local park Garden project which is still on-going to brighten up the area.
We have been looking at ways to engage with the diverse population of theCentral area of the city. One of the ways we did this this year was a set of visitsto the Gurdwara in Bevois Valley. This gave the Juniors a chance to learn aboutthe Seik religion and culture as well as taste some of the traditional food.“Just got back from the Gurdwara visit. It was really nice to get an insight toanother religion” Bernadette (Junior Warden Team Leader)
