The IPP is designed for students to maintain their full-time status. Students who withdraw from the IPP may take regular Continuing Education courses but they would no longer have full-time status, be part of a designated in-person program, or receive a letter of completion for PGWP submission.

Health Insurance • All IPP students are provided with GuardMe emergency health insurance. • You are insured from the first day to the last day of the program. • Direct pay or reimbursed (original receipts, doctor’s notes, insurance claim form). • Use the Mobile Doctor app for free guard.me/mobiledoctor.php. • For complete coverage details and to submit online claims: guard.me/ucalgaryesl. • International students with study permit 12 months or longer study permit can apply to be covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) at no cost. study.alberta.ca/plan-your-stay/health-care. • If you do not receive an insurance card, please contact the ELP office.

Medical Offices • There are four main hospitals in Calgary. • All hospitals have full services and 24-hour emergency ward. The estimated emergency department wait times can be found at: albertahealthservices.ca/waittimes. For non-emergency care, clinics are faster and more convenient. University Campus

Cigarettes, Alcohol and Cannabis • You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase cigarettes, alcohol or cannabis • Smoking is prohibited in indoor public spaces and within 5 meters of an entrance way • It is illegal to drink alcohol in public areas, including on the street, or in a vehicle • Cannabis cannot be purchased or consumed at the University of Calgary campus • Possession of other drugs may be a criminal offense that may result in the revocation of your study permit and temporary immigration status in Canada
