GERMANTOWN CRICKET CLUB A Champion Squash Program GCC boasts one of the world’s top squash programs. Led by a former World Doubles and National Singles champion, our certified Squash Professionals run programs year-round for players at all levels, from children to adult beginners to nationally ranked juniors and adults. Over the past decade, GCC has produced over 20 national squash champions, and sent dozens of juniors to join the squash programs of such elite universities as Yale, Princeton, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and many others. Our air-conditioned facilities include:  Glass wall exhibition court  4 international softball courts  2 doubles courts  Squash pro shop Squash for Adults GCC offers many ways for adults to get involved with the game of squash. We run adult clinics, in-house leagues, doubles clinics, tournaments, social events, ladies clinics, and inter-club teams. In-house leagues: Our box leagues give players an opportunity to meet and compete with players on their skill level. Players arrange match times themselves, to accommodate work and family schedules. Ladies clinics: We run hour-long ladies' clinics throughout the week, in both morning and evening time slots to accommodate working schedules. Calcuttas: Adult tournaments and calcuttas, run throughout the year, are a great and popular way for players at all levels to compete and have a great time! Squash for Juniors Junior clinics: Our junior clinics (Squash for Tots, Beginners, Intermediate, Elites) cover the full range of squash skills. Early levels work on such fundamentals as grip, contact, and swing. Advanced levels graduate to rallying and drills, up through advanced strategy for serious tournament players. Summer camps: First-class squash mentoring is mixed in with fun and games to create an infectious atmosphere where junior players want to stay for more than just one week. Grand Prix: This is one of our most popular in-house junior events! We play round robin matches using American scoring to give every junior maximum match play. Players accumulate points, with prizes going to the top six finishers at the end of the season.

GCC Squash Junior Programming Clinics Saturday junior clinics have been a great way for junior players to get playing exposure, instruction and to improve their squash. The times and make-up of these clinics have been changed for this season. Although there are guidelines for the clinics for ability and age, sometimes these guidelines can be overruled by a professional if the junior player needs to be placed in a more appropriate grouping. A general concept of the clinics is to be a progressive feeder system for Junior Grand Prix, Junior Interclub and eventually tournaments. Clinics cost $38 for an hour and a half, $25 for an hour, and $19 for 45 minutes, (there is a 24hr cancellation policy in effect, players will be charged if they cancel last minute or no show) The player/professional ratio is a maximum of 6:1. The following is a description and ability requirement of each clinic: 9:15-10:00 AM – Squash for Tots (ages 5-7 years old): this clinic is designed for players who are new to squash or still learning some basic skills. Focus is on grip, contact, squash swing and fun. 10:00-11:00 AM – Beginners (ages 8-10 years old): this clinic is designed for players with some basic understanding of the rules and is ready to begin rallying. Some players will be good enough for junior interclub and junior grand prix. 11:00-12:00 PM – Intermediate (ages 10-12 years old): in this clinic, players must be able to complete: 10 serves from both forehand and backhand sides, 10 forehands and 10 backhands. Players in this clinic should be playing beginner junior interclub and junior grand prix.

12:00-1:00 PM – Advanced (ages 11-13 years old): this clinic is designed for players who are able to perform set drills and who are ready or already playing: Bronze level tournaments (in U13 age bracket), Players in this clinic should be playing junior interclub. 1:00-2:30 PM – Tournament 1 clinic: aimed at silver & bronze players. (ages 13+ years old): this clinic is designed for regular tournament participants and have a good grasp of techniques and tactics. Players in this clinic should be playing junior interclub. 2:30-4:00 PM – Tournament 2 clinic: aimed at gold, silver and strong bronze players. Elite Clinics: These clinics have been a popular and great vehicle for the more advanced players to improve. The players in these clinics are accomplished tournament players who want the next level of motivation and practice to move their games forward. The clinics are for serious tournament players and are by invitation only. 4:00-5:30 PM – Elite clinic: designed for Gold and Championship players highly ranked in their respective age division. Clinic Cancellation Policy: a clinic requires a minimum of 3 people to be run for the full time. If there are less than the required number of players a clinic may be cancelled. The option of a shorter clinic time, a semi-private lesson or individual lesson can be offered, based on a coaches availability. If the clinic is changed to a lesson, the regular pro lesson rates apply depending on the instructor.

Leagues Junior Grand Prix This is an in-house GCC junior event, for members only. The format at each event will be round robin matches using American scoring; this way every junior will get maximum match play. Numbers permitting, every junior should get at least six to eight matches at each event. At the end of each event, points will be awarded to every player depending on their placing. We hope to run six similar events through the season (one each month) from October to March. Scheduling will be posted approximately a month in advance based on date availability with junior interclub and tournament weekends. Each player accumulates points at each event entered. The best four scores for each junior will be added and the top six finishers will receive prizes at the end of the season at the last Grand Prix scheduled Sunday match. The Grand Prix is suitable for players in the 11:00 AM, 12:00 and 1:00 PM Saturday clinics as well as the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced junior interclub teams. Dates for the Grand Prix are coordinated with junior interclub and tournament dates so there are limited overlaps in events. Junior Inter-Club This league is designed for juniors to play against other juniors from surrounding clubs. The league starts in October and runs until March. Matches are usually once or twice a month. The number of participants and a challenge ladder decide the playing order on teams. Each team will field five players; those in the top five on the challenge board for a given week will play. The junior challenge ladder will post challenge rules. Players from the

Saturday clinics should play in this league. League rules and a full schedule will be available online once the schedule is completed (fall). Matches will be held on scheduled Sunday afternoons. Germantown will field the following teams: Beginner (11 years and under), no tournament experience, players from the Saturday 11:00 AM clinic should play on this team. Intermediate (under 13 years of age), tournament experience at bronze ranking, players from the Saturday 12:00 clinic should play on this team. Advanced (under 15 years of age), tournament experience at bronze ranking, players from the Saturday 1:00 clinic should play on this team. Although there are guidelines for the league in regards to ability and age, sometimes these guidelines are overruled by a professional if the junior player needs to be placed in a more appropriate grouping.
