ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX RI PRESIDENT MESSAGE This year, we celebrate Earth Day on 22 April with a new sense of purpose. The environment is now an area of focus For Rotary. Solutions for all great tasks Always start with you and me, and there Is much we as individuals can do simply by changing Our behavior: Cutting down on our use of plastic and using energy wisely are just two examples. But now we have the opportunity to do more together. Supporting the environment is not new to Rotary; Clubs have long worked on environmental issues based On local needs. Now climate change a problem that affects us all, rich and poor requires us to work together more closely than ever. Alberto Palombo, a Venezuelan Engineer living in Brazil and a member of The Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisers, shares his view. Support from the Rotary Foundation will define this new chapter in our service. Through district and global Grant projects, we will build upon our previous projects that help the environment. We will look for ways To collaborate more closely and make a greater impact on global environmental issues. And we will incorporate environmental concerns into all of our programs, Projects, and events. Rotaractors and participants in our youth programs expect Rotary to take a clear position and provide leadership with vision. We will work with them, seeking intelligent solutions to the problems they will inherit. Our Incredible members, networks, and Foundation give us The capacity to make an important and lasting contribution. Now, we will discover together how Rotary Opens Opportunities to help us expand our service to preserve the home we all share. PRESIDENT HOLGER KNAACK ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX DISTRICT GOVERNOR MESSAGE My Dear Rotaractors, I am privileged to interact with you through this medium. I convey greetings from the entire Rotary Fraternity of District 3170. My special congratulations to Rotaract club of Midtown Phoenix for publishing this special magazine involving all the 24 DRR’s from India. This gives an opportunity for every Rotaract District to showcase their projects and strengthen friendship bonds with other districts. Rotaract has always been very near to my heart as I believe that it is the Youths of Today who can write a better future for the Community of Tomorrow. New ideas prop up in your brains very easily and you execute them as fast as possible. You are not afraid to accept Changes and Challenges and this significantly puts the Rotary idealism to a higher pedestal. R.I. President Holger Knaack also mentions at every given instance about Rotaract and expresses his belief in you !! As we all know that before the 1st July 2020, Rotaract was a Program of Rotary. But with the change approved at the C.O.L. in 2019, known as the 1972 amendment, Rotaract now is a member of Rotary International and enjoy the same status as Rotary Clubs. The then R.I. President Barry Rasin proposed that it was time that we give equal status to the Rotaractors and pave their way to join Rotary. Rotaractors now can also have a duel membership. They can be members of their Rotaract club and also a Rotary Club. In fact Rotary Clubs are advised to grant concessions in their annual fees to Rotaractors and attract them towards their clubs. RIPE Shekhar Mehta insists Rotary Clubs to invite more Rotaractors to the Rotary fold . I appeal to each DRR to persuade Rotaractors from their districts to join the main stream Rotary and strengthen the movement. Remember that Rotaract Opens Opportunities for you in many ways. It shall pave a DISHA for each one of you in your future life. Make the most of the opportunity that has come across you in the form of Rotaract. I pledge my support to you always. In Rotary, DISTRICT GOVERNOR RTN. SANGRAM V. PATIL ROTARY INTERNATION DISTRICT 3170 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX RSAMDIO PRESIDENT MESSAGE Dear Team Rotaract Club of Kolhapur Midtown Phoenix, As we approach the final quarter of this very unusual Rotary year, courtsey COVID-19, we all have understood one thing that as a human race, we always innovate and improvise with the situation we have in hand. The theme for this year is just so true “Rotary opens Opportunities” and yes it has done the same. We all have, in our unique ways contributed in ensuring help is in place to help the ones battling the hardships due to the pandemic. I hear that this editorial is going to cover the ideas from the DRRs across South Asia and this surely sounds like a common platform for the future aspiring leaders to take inspiration from. Well, when I was a DRR back in 2017, what intrigued me the most was bringing together rotaractors, not just from my district but also from the neighboring places and that brought in the concept of a sports event, a cricketing event in the name of Rotaract Premier League (RPL), it had it all, from club service for the host clubs to networking options at a low cost multi district event for rotaractors and an opportunity for event leads to experience first hand what it is to lead a group of rotaractors in a healthy competition as a cricket match. I am personally very attached with an event like this and would always encourage rotaractors around south asia to innovate and participate in events which would help them grow professionally as well as lead to a more united South Asian front. All the best to the team behind getting all this hardwork done and you all can count on me if ever I can be of any help. Best Regards, PRESIDENT PDRR. RTR. YATIN SEHGAL ROTARACT SOUTH ASIA MDIO DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX In a developing nation like India, menstrual hygiene is still a major unaddressed issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible for the lower classes of the society. To overcome this, District 3170 came up with Project Sabala. Project Sabala सबल stands for स- सक्षम, ब- बलशाली, ल- लाडली. Project Sabala consists of 3 phases viz. Phase 1 consists of spreading awareness about Menstrual hygiene and how it can shape or change one’s life as even today, most of the women from rural parts don’t have enough knowledge about a hygienic practice. Phase 2 consists of Sanitary Napkins donation drive and spreading awareness about the proper ways of disposal of used Sanitary Napkins and how not disposing it properly can contribute to bio hazard waste. Phase 3 aims at running a Sanitary Napkins Bank which is to be run by the District itself where clubs from all over the district use it to provide a good quality sanitary napkins to the needy free of cost. This will ensure a healthy lifestyle of thousands if not millions. On the occasion of DRRs birthday, DRR and First lady to DG came up with 1+1 sanitary napkins donation where DRR Sahil added the same no. Of Sanitary Napkins that were donated by clubs from all over the district. Around 20,000 napkins were donated by clubs to which, DRR added 20,000 and First lady to DG another 20,000 more to take the tally to 60,000+ napkins. Till today, more than 1,00,000 and counting sanitary napkins have been donated which will ensure that no one is deprived of the use of Sanitary Napkins which eventually lead them towards a healthier life style. On the occasion of World Rotaract Week and International women’s day, Rotary International District 3170 and Inner wheel District 317 have also joined hands with Rotaract District 3170 making it one of the biggest Sanitary Napkins donation drive to ever happen in Rotaract District 3170. Together, we believe, can bring about the change we need in the society as District 3170 has always been about opening the right doors and moving towards the Right Disha towards a better tomorrow filled with a lot of opportunities. Through Sabala, we believe, it’s time for One District One Mission. DRR. RTR. SAHIL GANDHI ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3170 A half acre waste land was turned into a play ground for school students, walking track for locals, prominent place for local district level events of the region, practice area for atheletes. Dreams have no barriers, one of the dream projects, which was happened only through ROTARACT. DRR. RTR. ARUN SAMPATH KANIGALLA ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3020 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX As a rotaractor, organising so many events in various avenues, with diverse area of focus, my aim has always been to work for women. To empower them by providing them with the basic necessities of life. When we talk of the issues that out society faces, there remain many unheard voices and concerns that demands our attention. That demands to be solved, as soon as possible, to let life flourish. Issues like, menstrual hygiene, which requires to be tackled with sensitivity and practicality. Throughout my journey as a rotaractor, as a Rotract Club president and now as a DRR, I have always and always laid my emphasis to the quotient of menstrual health and hygiene. Stepping into the shoes of DRR, I had my plans ready. List of things I would want to do and accomplish in this short journey. With a Commitment to Excellence my dream project SARAL came into picture. Under Project Saral, we aim to spread awareness about what is menstrual hygiene, why is it important, how should it be maintained and what health adversities are they prone to, if they don’t take the basic steps. Under the same project, we are donating 5,500+ packets of sanitary pads to the women from underprivileged sections of our society. The projected began in February 2021 and we aim to enlighten more than 10,000 women and provide them sanitary pads as well. DRR. RTN. RTR. PHF SARTHAK BANSAL ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3011 Devised especially for cancer warriors battling the terminal disease, Power Of Ponytails is a hair donation campaign with the intent of providing a sense of joy and relief amidst the community. Due to the adverse effects of chemotherapy, patients lose out on a lot of hair. The idea of the campaign is to spread awareness about cancer, and motivate individuals into donating 12-inches of their hair to help make natural wigs for the valiant cancer patients. Partnering with Protect Your Mom NGO, the District rotaract and interact team has been able to collect donations from more than 20 donors as of now. The project is ongoing with plans of involving rotaract clubs across India, local salons, and further getting professional wig makers onboard. The campaign was launched on October 16, the month representing Breast Cancer month, and has been received great response. Plans are under way to conduct Mammography camps and cervical cancer awareness drives. DRR. RTR. VARDA SARDAN ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3012 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX Young minds should come together and work in solidarity with fellow beings to bring about beautiful changes in society. One of my many aims is to focus on the propagation of sign language. Even though many around us have had the misfortune of having hearing and speaking deficiencies, not a lot of those blessed with the senses know how to apply the usage of sign language which makes it difficult for them to communicate. It is now important for people to know sign language and interact with the disabled to make them a more inclusive part of our society. This year, District 3080 is making it a priority to keep sign language at the top of our objective lists to not only increase awareness regarding the use of sign language but also see to it that clubs under our district conduct various events relating to the disabled and with the disabled. Doing little bits from our side which would make a huge difference in the life of the disabled and others is all that we want to advocate and be known for. I want to congratulate the Rotaract club of Kolhapur Midtown Phoenix for the well thought of coming up with this Dreams of INDIA magazine and applaud all the hard work and dedication the team has put in this magazine. All the best !! RTR. DRR. SAMIR MANDAN ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3080 At first, I would like to congratulate to the entire team of Rotaract Club of Kolhapur Midtown Phoenix, RID 3170 for such a great initiative. As for as Rotaract District 3120 is concerned we always focus on creating new and young leaders through this wonderful platform Rotaract by polishing their communication and leadership skills. The theme of Rotaract District 3120 is also ‘Rotaract Empowering Young Leaders’ for the session 2020-21 therefore our entire focus is on youth empowerment and giving great leaders to community. The Clubs of our district 3120 also have been focusing on organising more and more events and projects on Youth Empowerment. During lock down period many clubs have organized many online events where Rotaractors could learn some great skills. 8th March is International Women’s Day and Women Empowerment is our district’s flagship project this year. We want great women leaders in our district who can take the district to great heights. It’s my personal belief that If we have to create more leaders in Rotaract so we have to focus on such kind of events apart from other areas of focus. I would like to encourage our Rotaractors to come forward and grab this opportunity of becoming great leaders with this beautiful platform. DRR. RTR. RAJAN KUMAR GUPTA ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3120 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX SEED BALL project ‘throw to grow’. From seeds to trees and trees to a green tomorrow. Let’s make our environment a better place to live in…! We RID 3132 have planned an interesting way of planting trees through Seed Balls. An Seed Ball is a marble-sized ball made up of clay, organic fertilizers, and seeds that are used to replant areas where the natural flora has been destroyed. Seed balls are an easy and sustainable way to cultivate plants in rainy season is the best time to do prepare earth balls and throw. To make Earth balls you need Soil, Manure & Seeds. Soil is easily available but seeds you’ll have to collect. For that prepare a small seed bank at your home. You can use various seeds depending upon your area. The tree that is most commonly found pan-India is neem. Find out which seeds are easily available in your area. Now is the season of Jamun & neem so collect as many as possible. While collecting seed we have to consider the following things – seed size, seed availability, the ability of the seed to germinate on the soil surface, germination and seedling growth speed, ability to withstand temperature extremes and prolonged dry periods, ability to tolerate soil conditions, seed stability when stored in large quantities. The project was successfully completed Throughout District by making seed balls More than 1lac. The members of all clubs had lots of zeal and spirit in this project that this project was done over a span of 3 months. And not to forget the preventive measures were taken to keep us safe from this pandemic. DRR. RTR. SHRIKANT V DAD ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3132 Hearty congratulations to Rotaract Club of Kolhapur Midtown Phoenix. From my side and from the entire District 3053. I am confident that in your tenure, you will take your district to a new height and set a new record, once again very congratulations. ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX We at RID 3131 have been working enthusiastically towards developing ourselves and the community. Despite of pandemic, we have completed many projects at District level. It’s hard to choose one, but the very first project we introduced in RIY 2020-21, has been close to me. There is a Chinese quote which states – “Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.” With this thought in mind we, Rotaract District 3131 decided to come up with something that would facilitate the process of learning something new in our Rotaractors. This year under the Professional Development Avenue we wanted to give Rotaractors something that would add to their CV and help them build a career. It is with this thought in mind that we came up with a novel District PD initiative – K.E.Y., i.e. Keep Enhancing Yourself. The world has various opportunities to offer all we have to do is find the Key to it ! Rotaract District 3131 this year attempts to bring various modules across various disciplines under this initiative and enable Rotaractors to unlock opportunities ! Under this initiative we plan on launching courses and programs for our Rotaractors which shall be conducted by professionals. A certificate signed by our DRR Shraddha Lamkhade and DDRR Drishti Singh along with the respective Trainer’s signature shall be given to the participants. We have already launched our Module 1- Lingua Franca under which we are bringing foreign language courses at a very subsidized price ! We have already begun with two batches of our German classes with each batch having 15 Rotaractors ! Batch 1 began on 17th August and Batch 2 on 21st August. 2 Batches of A2 have ended as well. A Batch of B1 has begun on 3rd March. We also launched our French A1 Batch with 11 students which continued for 4 months. French A2 batch with 4 students has begun as well. DRR. RTR. SHRADDHA LAMKHADE ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3131 Help Hands for special child: The project is to promote inclusion for children with disabilities in partnership with regular pre-schools and to understand how a child with disabilities could experience education as a positive force for change in this pre-school structure. Our focus is To create awareness in schools about various disabilities, learning difficulties and behavior problems that pre-school children face, To develop individualized educational plans for children with special needs, based on the regular school curriculum, To provide care and training to pre-school children with disabilities and orphan children, To train parents, family members and also other public to care for the developmental needs of their children and Improving the access to essential medical services, trained community health leaders and health care providers for special child; Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to disability and child health. ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX Being the DRR for the city of dreams is my dream come true! This uniqueness that this year brought with it plus the aim of continuing to rise to the challenge of keeping the ever so vibrant movement of rotaract has led to creation of new projects in each avenue. One of those projects, an event that will forever stay close to my heart is the first ever Global District Conference – Project Jamboree. District Conferences’ are about celebration and we thought 20-21 was the opportune year to take this celebration global. The journey which started with an irrational and impossible idea to pull off became possible and a one-of a-kind project. To give out the experience of learning and unlearning, fun and frolic, rotaractors of 3141 connected to rotaractors from different time zones, we attempted (successfully!) the first ever 24 hour live project. The Key highlights of the Project were A total of 2573 attendees from 20+ countries. An interesting panel consisting of District Governor not only from India (RID 3141 – Mumbai and RID 3012 – Delhi) but also International District Governors from RID 4500 – Brazil and RID 3410 – Indonesia. First time ever in the history of Rotaract District 3141, the Rotary International President (Elect) addressed us ! A vibrant cultural tour to 20+ destinations of the world.Rotaract is a global organization and through Jamboree, we have been able to showcase the power of this connection by going up an extra mile. Rotaract District 3141 has been able to successfully exchange ideas where language, passport and quarantine facilities were never a barrier! DRR. RTR. OJAS JOSHI ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3141 Leadership is one time chance to make our dreams fill completely which is life time memory of as DRR which is for a year. Many dreams many responsibilities many opportunities but finally we will learn many things when chasing our dreams. This pandemic made me to dream the way how can we organise and interact easily through online meetings to involve more rotaractors and start new clubs easily by inviting our friends and build a channel of communication with other districts easily and my dream project is to invite more members to join as Rotaractors and start more clubs to create a public image by involving more youth to prove their leadership skills. DRR. RTR. SINDHURA PABBISETTY ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3150 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX This Rota Year 2020-21 has been a challenging one, but it has given us a lot of learnings, our DRR batchmates have built up good relations with each other through digital platforms since a longtime now. I always dreamt of have a Multi District joint event to develop long-lasting friendships and a breakthrough happened when I met my buddy DRR Rtr Abhijith from RID 3181. We decided to conduct a Cricket Tournament! When this idea was put forth in front of 3160 DRR Rtr Sumankitha, 3150 DRR Rtr Sindhura and 3020 DRR Rtr Sampath everyone was excited and readily agreed to this. With this enthusiasm RID 3190 hosted the first ever Multi District Cricket Tournament of southern districts of India – “Rotaract Friendship Cup 2021” in Bengaluru which was a grand success which even witnessed the presence of World Rotaract Committee Chair of Rotary International 2021- 22 PDG Dr. Ravi Vadlamani. The event would not have been possible without the efforts of all the DRRs and Rotaractors who travelled a long way amidst the pandemic. RID 3160 were the winners and RID 3181 stood second and 2022 version of RFC will be hosted by RID 3181. My district Rotaractors and my digital DRR batchmates made my dream come true ! DRR. RTR. RAJ VAMAHI ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3190 Rising India can move ahead and shine only when the youth feels empowered and get an aim in their lives to do something for humanity. During this pandemic situation also I along with team haven’t stopped ourselves for serving the society. Surrounded by masks, gloves, sanitizer we increased our speed to do remarkable projects in my tenure. District Rotaract Organization 3262 has come off with lots of interesting events and energetic projects in my tenure. I am also looking after the long term health of our organisation by ensuring good projects. As planned and discussed we have done our projects with remarkable success. The speed, willingness, and good heart with which the entire Rotaract world, particularly our district members have responded and will be responding to the COVID-19 pandemic are heart-warming. Well talking about my Dream project which is to Adopt 500 children and educate them through Rotaract Pathsala. Every club will start a study centre it may be in slum, village or unprivileged area. We will appoint a local youth/May be our Rotaractor who will teach them daily (If possible) or we will teach them extracurricular activities like Craft, dance in weekends. We can have health check camps, sanitation awareness for their family. Membership Extension is also one of my vision to increase membership strength. We have achieve more than 50% on membership extension with 720+ service projects in this 7 months. DRR. RTR. HARISHANKAR JENA ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3262 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX Successfully RYLA organised phase – 3 in RSD Moradabad. Congratulations to DG Manish Sharda, DRC Rtn. Pritish Singh, DIC Rtn. Vikas Chaudhary, DRR RTR. Anmol Pokhriyal, DIR ITR. Sonika Agarwal. It was really a herculian task to organise such a grand & well managed District Event with full grace and that too with Covid Norms. DRR. RTR. ANMOL POKHARIYAL ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3100 Warm greetings and wishes from all the rotaractors of RID 3054 !! This is a great opportunity provided to me to share my vision as a leader in the form of my dream project. When I stepped into rotaract for the first time, I was completely clueless on how this bunch of youth worked for amazing service to community along with fellowship. As I became acquainted with this place, I developed my own desires and vision to do something beneficial for the society we live in. The society we live in, and the people around us, have different struggles of their own. It is not possible to curb all of these, but small efforts matter for a great beginning. Stepping in as the DRR of RID 3054 in RI year 2020-21, it was a great opportunity for me to share and execute my dream project, THE KRISHIKA BABY KIT DISTRIBUTION DRIVE. This project has always been close to my heart and I have even received immense support for its execution. We have seen how our Indian society has gradually evolved to give girl child the same importance, respect, and care, that the boy child gets. We have seen our society gradually developing an open mindset on having a girl child. Female as a gender deserves to be dignified and celebrated. Hence, this project aimed to provide all the basic needs to newborn baby girls and their mothers. Each and every club of RID 3054 has been enthusiastic about this initiative since the beginning. We visit local hospitals and provide baby kits to new mothers who have given birth to a girl child. This is an epitome to celebrate the birth of these angels, who are an equal and integral part of this society as well. This project also holds a special place as it goes after the name of my new born baby girl Krishika. Celebrating the birth of these angels is like celebrating the essence of life. They deserve to hold that special place in the society they are born in. RID 3054 has taken up this opportunity in the form of a task, and we hope we create a good impact through this deed. This project has been carried out wonderfully and I am thankful to my team and all rotaractors who have supported this noble deed and also the fulfilment of my dream project. Best wishes to all my batchmate DRRs for their endeavors. DRR. RTR. JAY BALASARA ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3054 DREAMS OF INDIA

ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX DRR Swapnil Gaud’s dream project is Big Smile. The project is dedicated in the memorie of PDRR Bhumik Shah. Today he is not with us but he always say that smile is the only thing every one can share with all and smile can change the attitude of people towards you . So I together with my DRO’s decided to do the project in loving memory of PDRR Bhumik Shah, on his birthday day (3rd September) and on his Death anniversary (14th January). We directed the whole District to do such projects which can bring smile on others faces and also gives us satisfaction.. DRR. RTR. SWAPNIL SUNIL GAUD ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3060 One of the thrust areas of Rotaract District 3142 for the year 2020-2021 has been “Rotaract Branding”. My dream project focuses on the same – “Brand Rotaract”. The objective, as the name suggests, is to make as many people aware of Rotaract as an organization and the work we do as possible. To make this even more effective, District Officials conducted various training sessions for the same. This included two phases – Phase I: Training clubs to approach brands, planning strategies, making use of logos and print media for branding, getting various partners on board for the initiatives, etc. Phase II: After working on the checklist provided in the first phase, this phase focuses on the problems faced and coming up with solutions. This ensured that not only the District but each club also develops an individual brand value showing the reach of the movement. We are currently in the second phase and it has proven to be a very helpful initiative. My goal is to lay the foundation for Rortaract branding for years to come. Stay tuned for a grand offline initiative of this project next year, which was unfortunately not possible due to the COVID limitations this year. DRR. RTN. RTR. ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX As rightly said by Allan Bloom, “Education is the movement from darkness to light”. We The Rotaract District 3030, wished to remove this darkness from every kid’s life and enlighten them with the light of education. With this in mind, we started a project named “Happy School” with a vision to develop some schools throughout the district which are not in good shape, have improper toilets, unhygienic environment and inadequate facilities. With the initiative to make it a better learning place for students, we have started with cleanliness drives and plantation in few of the campus. Government trying to elevate the level of education in the country might take some time, hence RID 3030 thought to act as a catalyst and speed up the process. We are trying to the best of our abilities to inculcate digital learning and improve the basic infrastructure such as setting up a small library, desk, benches, separate toilets etc. As for the current work we are trying to get in contact with the government officials and different school authorities to get the things done officially and also raising funds so that we can provide them with additional facilities. We are waiting for the things to get normal so that the district can hop on its feet and start the work again. DRR. RTR. ABHISHEK GOYAL ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 3030 Rotaract District 3291 under the able leadership of the glamourois DRR Rtr Madhurima Barman, has decided to focus on a limited number of special areas that the district will do recurring projects on to make a sustainable change throughout the whole year. “Samavaan” is the collective initiative focusing on three such exclusive 3 special areas, “Combatting Corona”, “Amphan Relief”, “Tree Plantation”. “Samavaan”,the year long District Initiative, supported by Rotaract Clubs of RID 3291, talks about sustainable change. From providing huge ration distribution at cyclone affected places of coastal areas and village, tens of thousands of Mangrove plantation to help restoring the Mangrove Forests of The Sunderbans to sustainable Water Filtration Plant Installation in coastal villages with scarcity of drinking water- “SAMAVAAN” has been and still working on bringing Real and sustainable change. And thus “Samavaan” exactly stands for what DRR Rtr Madhurima Barman meant when she says in her District Theme- “Opportunities to Ascend”. DRR. RTR. ROTARACT CLUB OF KOLHAPUR MIDTOWN PHOENIX Sahyata’ A mega flood-relief project with a tagline ‘Assam needs you’ caught the imagination of the youth and the public. “Each year around five million people of Assam and thousands of animals and livestock are affected by the deluge in Brahmaputra River,” When I took over as DRR, I along with Rtr. Mohit K Mohata – Community Service Director formed a partnership with 12 different Rotary, Rotaract clubs and districts to raise money for taking up relief and rehab measures for the flood affected people. Rs 1.8+ lakh were raised despite Covid-19, hindrance, obstacles to set up flood relief camps at five places in Assam. Those beneficiaries approved by District Administration were given ration kits, food, groceries and essential items such as mattress, coil and utensils, etc for daily living. Around 1,200 families are being accommodated at the flood shelters. Rotaractors of RAC Bongaingaon, Greater Tezpur, Guwahati Luit & Guwahati East distributed flood relief assistance under Project as Rotaract District Council bearded 50% of their expenses. In the final phase of Sayhata, the Rotaractors donated flood-relief material worth Rs. 1.25 lakh to Rupatchithi Sankar Dev Sisu Niketan, a government school for tribals at West Karbi Anglong. The donated items include two bookshelves, 100 chairs, five teacher’s tables, three multipurpose boards, two water filter units, two dustbins, chalks and markers and five LED tube lights.
