KATA PENGANTARBanci Penduduk dan Perumahan Malaysia 2010 (Banci 2010) merupakan banci kelima yangdilaksanakan setiap 10 tahun sejak penubuhan Malaysia pada tahun 1963. Banci sebelum initelah dijalankan pada tahun 1970, 1980, 1991 dan 2000. Banci 2010 membekalkanmaklumat yang komprehensif tentang bilangan penduduk dan isi rumah berserta ciri-ciridemografi dan sosioekonomi. Di samping itu, ia juga menyediakan maklumat bilangan danjenis tempat kediaman serta kemudahan asas yang tersedia.Banci merupakan satu projek besar yang melibatkan jumlah borang yang banyak danmempunyai pelbagai data, maka ia memerlukan masa yang lama untuk diproses sebelumstatistik dapat dikeluarkan demi menjamin kualitinya. Bagi memberi gambaran ringkasbilangan penduduk Malaysia pada tahun 2010, Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia telahmenerbitkan Laporan Kiraan Permulaan pada Disember 2010. Seterusnya, laporan yangtelah diterbitkan adalah Taburan Penduduk dan Ciri-ciri Asas Demografi, TaburanPenduduk Mengikut Kawasan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan dan Mukim, Ciri-ciri TempatKediaman dan Ciri-ciri Pendidikan dan Sosial Penduduk.Penerbitan ini mengandungi data penduduk bekerja berumur 15-64 tahun mengikutpekerjaan dan industri serta taraf pekerjaan. Maklumat dalam penerbitan ini adalahberdasarkan kepada penjanaan data muktamad tanpa penyesuaian kurang penghitungan.Diharapkan penerbitan ini dapat memenuhi keperluan perancang, pembuat dasar,penyelidik dan juga pihak awam.“Banci Penggerak Wawasan Negara”DR. PREFACEThe 2010 Population and Housing Census of Malaysia (Census 2010) was the fifth decennialcensus conducted since the formation of Malaysia in 1963. The previous censuses wereconducted in 1970, 1980, 1991 and 2000. Census 2010 provides a wealth of information onthe number of persons and households as well as a wide range of demographic and socio-economic characteristics. In addition, it also provides information on the number and typesof living quarters and the availability of basic amenities.The census being a very large project involves a voluminous number of forms andinformation and therefore requires a fair amount of processing time to ensure its qualitybefore the statistics can be released. Thus, to provide a quick insight on the population ofMalaysia in 2010, the Department of Statistics, Malaysia published the Preliminary CountReport on December 2010. The following reports also had been released were PopulationDistribution and Basic Demographic Characteristics, Population Distribution by LocalAuthority Areas and Mukims, Characteristics of Living Quarters and Education and SocialCharacteristics of the Population.This publication provides information on employed population aged 15-64 years byoccupation, industry and status in employment.
