Danny Zuko – The protagonist. Handsome, cocky leader of the T-Birds. Can be mean in order to \"be cool\", although he is really kind. Sandy Dumbrowski – New in town, a wholesome, pure, kind, clumsy, and innocent girl. T-Birds Kenickie – The tough and rude, though considerate, second-in-command. Love interest for Rizzo. Doody – The youngest member; generally foolish, and gullible. Sonny – An obnoxious yet tricky member of the T-Birds; funny Italian-American; \"Wise Guy\". Roger – A jolly prankster who loves \"putting people on\". He loves Jan and goes by the nickname \"Rump\"

The Pink Ladies Betty Rizzo – Tough and sarcastic, though vulnerable leader of the Pink Ladies; does not like to hang out with Sandy because she is not tough enough. Smokes, drinks, and does not care what others think of her. Rizzo is also a girl with a \"reputation\". Frenchy – Fun-loving and foolish but very friendly member of the Pink Ladies; dropped out of high school to enter Beauty School; a little light-headed and unsure of what to do. Cares a lot about her appearance. Marty – Called the \"beauty\" in most production scripts. Most attractive member of the Pink Ladies; tries to act sophisticated. She likes older guys. Jan – Funny, loud, and awkward member of the Pink Ladies. Loud and pushy around girls, but sweet around boys.
