OPJS Angul Celebrates Christmas On the occassion of Christmas celebration the KG angels of O.P. Jindal School danced to the exciting tunes and added a sparkle, followed by a host of activities like speech,games, quiz and mesmerizing Christmas Carols. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was visible on the faces of all the children as they enjoyed being a part of the celebration virtually. In another event, the Nursery kids and the children of “Asha the Hope” were amused with the Christmas gifts donated by the staff of the school.Mr Atanu Rath, Principal and Mrs Sangeeta Sharma, Headmistress appreciated the choreographers and organizers for casting a marvelous entertainment show for the school kids while observing the Christmas Carnival. AIDS awareness programme - Tensa On World AIDS day recently, a series of awareness programmes were organised in different locations of JSPL Foundation’s operational villages. A special sensitisation drive was conducted for truckers and drivers. Another event was held for villagers and children. Honours for JSP Foundation In view of its contributions in the field of HIV-AIDS prevention-cum- awareness campaigns, the Chhattisgarh Government recently honoured the JSP Foundation. State Health Minister Mr T S Singh Deo gave away the award to representatives of the Foundation. DGM, CSR, JSP Raigarh, Mr Shishir Taardar said that the Foundation ran several prevention and awareness programmes throughout the year, under the guidance of JSPL Foundation Chairperson, Mrs Shallu Jindal. As many as 60925 people have been impacted by the campaigns, while 7695 people have benefitted through group sessions. Helping hand for farmers In JPL Tamnar, National Farmers’ Day was observed in the WADI Project at village Mahloi where the Block Horticulture Officer sensitized farmers about various ongoing schemes of the Government Horticulture Department. HIV awareness programme An HIV awareness programme was organised by the JSPL Foundation at Raigarh to mark World AIDS Day. Chief Guest Raigarh Mayor Smt Janki Katju addressed the programme. A number of district officials and those from JSP were present on the occasion. JSPL Raigarh Executive Vice President Mr Sanjeev Chauhan gave a lowdown on the programmes being run by the Foundation to check the spread of HIV. HIV awareness drive for truckers A week-long HIV / AIDS awareness campaign was organised on World AIDS Day, Dec 1, among Tamnar plant workers, truckers, and other staff. Pamphlets were distributed, red ribbon was pasted as part of the drive. The week-long programme was organized at Gate 03, CHP chowk , Tehlirampur, Rabo, Coal transportation area, OPJCC, Punjipathara, from Dec 1 to Dec 7. World Soil Day observed World Soil Day was observed on Dec 5 to sensitise people on the importance of healthy ecosystems and human well-being by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, soil salinization, besides encouraging societies to improve soil health. The day was also observed in one of the WADIs of Tamnar area where farmers benefitted from the campaign. Day on human rights In JPL Tamnar, Human Rights Day was recently observed at ITI Tamnar among youth, where advocate Mr Raj Kumar Dansena spoke to the youth on their rights. Foundation helping special children Through centres of “Asha – The Hope,” the JSPL Foundation is working for rehabilitation of specially-abled children in and around Patratu, by helping them with therapy, treatment and other services. The International Day of Disabled Persons was recently observed at such centres with cutting of cakes and distribution of gifts. Sports events and programmes for children were also organized. Volleyball match organised In a thrilling volleyball match in Raipur’s Machinery Division, Team Hard Heater defeated Team Superior Fighters 2-1. Both teams are part of the security department. Sports competition for special children A sports competition for special children was organized on the occasion of World Disabled Day at Asha -- The Hope Training and Rehabilitation Center, operated by the JSPL Foundation. Special children, who have excelled in national-level games, were honoured. Hearing aids, calipers, CP chairs, roll letters were also distributed. Parents, along with special children from nearby villages, were present in large numbers. JSPL Foundation Chairperson Mrs Shalu Jindal, who sent her message on the occasion, said that “we, through Asha – The Hope, are committed towards providing a sustainable and better future to the differently-abled with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation services”. Jindal Ladies’ Club function The Jindal Ladies’ Club, Raigarh, recently organised an event called “Ek Sham Humsafar Ke Naam” which saw the participation of members and office-bearers of the club. Club members presented many cultural programs on the occasion, including a musical performance based on famous Bollywood pairs. Club President Smt Sujata Saraogi expressed her gratitude to the office-bearers and members for the memorable event. MahaMritunjay Puja organised A two-day Maha Mritunjay Puja was organised recently at Tensa unit. Several employees and family members participated in large numbers. Singer of the year A music fest, “OPJSA Singer & Dancer of the Year” competition was organised on Dec 20, which sought to provide a platform to young, talented students. Eight students in all participated and the young maestros were appreciated by the judges from the Music World, Ms. Sonia Mishra, Mr Rakesh Mohapatra, Mr Atish Pattasenani, and Ms Hrituparna Mandal. Master Tanishq Bisen bagged the “singer of the year” title for the year. Puppet show organised OPJS Angul organised a puppet show competition on Dec 16, where teams attempted to outdo each other in traditional ways of storytelling. Mrs Anita Mittal, President JMS, was the chief guest on the occasion. School Principal Mr Atanu Rath, in his welcome address, congratulated the participants for putting up a wonderful show. The visual treat, which saw participation from as many as 66 participants, was a beautiful amalgamation of drama, story, sound effects and digital graphics. The winning students received trophies.
