Cover Story “PROJECT P AGATI” “Project P agati” propels Jindal Steel and Power to next level of digital maturity with key focus on safety and quality. Digitalization will help to provide greater value to every stakeholder in our integrated value chain. Digital vision is to positively impact our Suppliers, Customers, Shareholders, Employees, and the larger Society. Industry 4.0 Technology has enabled Digital interventions in iron and steel making processes making it as the biggest value drivers. Implementation of Digital Twin helps to create a virtual replica of the physical plant and help improve plant KPIs through actionable insights. Integration of IT (Information Technology) with OT (Operations Technology) is of key importance to liberate the data from individual operating silos. Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology is one of the methods to make this IT – OT integration expedited. Jindal | May, 2023 | 9

Many projects have been initiated in this regard like Rail Mill IoT Digitalization and Spectrometer integration, blast furnace and Sinter plant digital twin, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for better operation Planning, Scheduling and Quality control. First milestone of Data Lake implementation is also now completed, and process started to horizontally deploying it for all locations and assets. Data lake will serve as single source of truth for all our reporting and analytics need going forward. The objective is to ensure availability of clean data at centralized location. We are using industrial drone technology for remote inspection of surface temperature profiles analysis and hotspots identification of refractories. This helps improve safety by reducing human exposure during inspection. This includes external Visual & thermal Inspection Stove Vessel (BF), Furnace Down comer / Bustle Pipeline Furnace Inspection (DRI) and Factory Roof Inspection (SMS) at Angul. 10 | Jindal | May 2023

We are going to use AR VR enabled technologies to ensure Safety trainings for critical use cases like Work at Height, Confined Space, Electrical Isolation etc. This technology enables the employees to practice critical job skills in a realistic environment and understand safety best practices. The experiential learning medium helps in Situational and spatial awareness, safer workplace behaviours and reduce the number of incidents. To improve the road safety the Automatic Name Plate detection (ANPR) and Speed Monitoring systems have been implemented which include automatic challan generation. This helps reduce the Road Accident due to over speeding, achieve the Zero Harm target and spread awareness among employees to drive their vehicle within agreed speed limit. JINSAFE app has also been launched along with Safety observation portal rollout at multiple locations to ensure zero harm. QR code boards are getting installed at different locations inside plant with line/ section manager details to ease out observation and incident reporting. Video Analytics & Computer based Vision is getting used in operation monitoring. Real time production monitoring has been enabled using Artificial Intelligence based Video Processing solution that uses CCTV camera in caster plant to count the number of Billets. Jindal | May, 2023 | 11

Speed Deduction Weighbridge automation, FasTag based authentication & vehicle tracking leveraging Government of India ULIP platform is a key use case showing how Digital tools can help in ensuring transparency and reducing the TAT (turnaround time). Nostalgia Vivek Kumar Mittal Time is Money Corporate Office, JSP - Delhi We get to learn a lot from Bauji’s life. Bauji was a school and a university 20 | Jindal | May 2023 himself. It is my good fortune that I learned a lot by working with him very closely. Bauji used to say that a man should always speak the truth because when a man speaks the truth, he does not have to remember it, but a lie told once has to be remembered every time, which sometimes causes problems. Bauji was very punctual. I remember that if he had to leave home for a meeting at 9 o’clock, he used to come and sit in his home office five minutes earlier. He always believed that Time = Money and used to say that “If a man respects time, time will also respect him”. The life of Bauji will always inspire us. #ShatShatNamantoBauji
