Posfácio O dissílabo “apa”, usado exaustivamente neste poema, prenuncia duas grandes palavras: “aparecer” e “desapa- recer”. A letra? O hieróglifo? O autor Sérgio Medeiros é poeta, artista visual e contista. 82

Postface The disyllable “apa”, extensively used in this poem, foreshadows two great words: “appear” and “disappear”. But it should be remembered that Apa, with its first letter in uppercase, is the name of the river in my home- town. Next to it rest my father and my sister. *** The drawn river and the written river were placed side by side, over several days and nights: thus the poem which I named dictionary was formed. *** My calligraphy, when recklessly approaching the fanciful hieroglyph from the sanctioned letter, eventually jumbled them up. What came (appeared) first? The letter? The hieroglyph? The author Sérgio Medeiros is a poet, visual artist and short story writer. 83
