Sunday 26th July 2020 ST GEORGE’S CHURCH Every person complete in Christ - Colossians 1: 28 WELCOME Back to St George’s church! Finally after many months of meeting Online we are now able to meet together, in person. Thank the Lord and rejoice with us. You will notice that Church has changed in many ways but the Lord remains the same and so does our mission of presenting everyone complete in Christ. God has given us new ways of sharing Christ with our world, our city and our neighbours. He has also given us news ways to develop how we nurture our faith and support each other in the Lord. Thanks for being part of these new ways. THE COLLECT FOR FOR 7TH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY Almighty God, who sent your Holy Spirit to be the life and light of your Church: open our hearts to the riches of his grace, that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love and joy and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN. http://www.stgeorges.org.sg https://www.facebook.com/stgeorgeschurchsingapore 1

John’s Gospel 1-6 Welcome back to church! That statement might seem a bit odd because, as you know, we have had church every week online. Yet, there is just something powerful and amazing about meeting together as the church! Absence makes the heart grow fonder’. That has certainly been the case since we last met before Easter. These past few months have been quite trying, to say the least for all of us. For Pastors and Staff here at St George’s, this building has felt quite empty every time we walk through it. We have missed the sounds of praise reverberating. We have also missed the voices of our children, youth, and adults as we fellowship and worship together. And we long to have everyone re-join us as a church, but know there is a limit to the number of people allowed and the restrictions on those of the vulnerable group. This continues to make us sad that we are not yet the full family of God together. John’s biography of Jesus tells us that ‘those who believe in Jesus, are given the right to become children of God’ (John 1:12). No matter where we are; whether in church In Person or Online, we are part of the family of God. Our current sermon series is an examination of God made known in Christ, as seen through the eyewitness of John the Gospel writer. We began last week and we will continue until John chapter 6. John’s account of Jesus’ life was written when life was tough, persecution was happening, natural disasters and human tragedies occurring and some were questioning whether they were part of the family of God or not. Despite the difficulties and uncertainties that we encounter, we are called to know with confidence that by believing in Christ we have life in his name and that we definitely are in the family of God. Stay strong brother and sister in Christ, Rev. Ian Hadfield 2
