INTERVIEW Scott Formby’s Hamptons, N.Y., summer home is a light-filled retreat. White walls allow his collection of mid-century modern furniture to shine, while colourful textiles add a dose of playful energy. Text by STACY LEE KONG H&H: How do you bring that look home? Growing up in a small town in Texas, Scott Formby thought of art and design as a hobby more than a real career option. Little did he know, he’d one day design for brands SF: My summer home in Amagansett, like Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Lucky Brand and Frette. Now the chief creative officer for Indigo, Scott oversees the bookseller’s Toronto and New York studios and is the design N.Y., is linear and modern. It isn’t large at all, just three small bedrooms and two small bathrooms, but it’s beautifully proportioned. The living area is all glass, and it’s kind of cantilevered over the trees, so it feels like a tree house. It was designed by Julian and Barbara Neski, a couple who were part of a group of architects that went out to the Hamptons in the ’60s and really made their mark on the architecture there.
