Editor's Note Spring: A lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be. (Anonymous) Greetings Readers! As has been perfectly articulated in the quote, spring is coupled with changing dynamics and a little change never did anybody any harm. Indeed, spring is a season of change, exuberance, liveliness and inspiration. This year, it also appears to be the light at the end of the (pandemic) tunnel and thus represents resilience, the sole driving force that has led us here. It's very energizing to see nature reviving itself, be it the tiny plantlets that sprout out of the unlikeliest of places or the birds chirrupping from in between the dense green foliage of trees. Just like the myriads of buds that have blossomed into flowers this season, we have evolved into newer and rejuvenated versions of ourselves, equipped with a better and more considerate view of the world. Ernie Harwell once said, “It’s time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I’d much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.” This quote is for my fellow batchmates, the class of 2022. I might sound like a valedictorian here, but I want to congratulate them for coming out of the trying times (that the last two years have been) stronger than ever, ready to take on all the curve balls that life throws at them. So, here’s to happy endings and new beginnings! Cheers, Agamya
Palak Modi, XII B, 2022
Principal's Message “No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.” (English proverb) As I jog my memory, it becomes clear that our lives are marked, in fact, dictated by seasonal indicators. Every tree, every creature, even the speed and the direction of the wind, declare the arrival and departure of something. Just like the garden of the ‘selfish giant’, the world has become accustomed to dingy and dull ‘winters’ for the last two years. In this context, the movements and socialization of our children were restricted. Hence, it became a critical spot for their psychosocial wellbeing and development. Therefore, the blooming flowers (children) have been visualized losing their beauty in the monotonous season as they waited for their silver lining. The ongoing challenges in the teaching learning process were crucial in the era of new normal. Thanks to the fortunate turn of NEP 2020. It is no less than the arrival of a pleasant spring as it has given freshness to the education system of India. It is definitely a mould breaking reform which focuses on individualised and research based learning for children. Needless to say, the fluidity that the policy offers is a prerequisite for the holistic development of children. No doubt, there is something magical about this spring time! Let’s beat the winter blues with a new spring tide and work towards innovative approach for Young India. Best wishes for the new academic session! Regards, Dr Deepak Raj Singh Bisht

Vessel of Rues The world is dying, and I am late. Too late to bring back moral good, Too late to grasp what it withstood. Charred in black I stand today, With a vessel full of rues. Shall I quietly count them piece by piece, Or stir them in the ashes? For I yearn no longer, to paint the world, With the spark of hope. And I yearn no longer, to breathe the air, That reeks of our burnt virtues. I simply wish to lay my head, Amid the ruins of our lives. And place yet another bit, into my vessel. Remorse for the sweet scent of pine, and the promise of warmth; For the orchids abloom no more, and the gift of love, I am sorry. Sanskriti Agrawal, IX E
Loneliness to Happiness No one to talk, No one to speak, mind is getting weaker and weak. Stuck in the middle of four walls, not getting many calls. Always feeling all alone, not getting a single phone. Each time feeling lonely, looks like I am the one and only. But had to bring life back to happiness, wanted no more tension, no more stress. Wanted a smile back on my face, I knew there were many ways. So one night called up a friend, To give my loneliness a “The End”. Suhani Manglik, VIII B
A Goodbye... I rushed into the hospital's emergency wing with my aunt. We were here to see my grandmother. She was in critical condition. My parents were already there, dad has called us here to meet her for the last time as the doctors said that she was extremely ill and might not make it till the next morning. We entered the room grandma was in. I was on the verge of tears looking at her condition. She loved colours; everything around her always used to be colourful and cheerful but here she was in this plain white room with the only sound being the beeping of her heartrate coming through the equipment there. Dad called me forward and asked me to hold grandma's hand. As soon as I took her hand she started speaking,\" You are f-finally here my sunshine. I will always be w-watching you. I love you. Be g-good.\" she said with aching difficulty. I kissed her on the forehead and started speaking,\" I love you too grandma. You have taught me a lot; I will always remember your teachings. I will miss you. Rest well.\" The next sound we heard was the long beep from the equipment indicating that she had passed away. Sobs and sniffles filled the room as I caressed her cheek and remembered our happier moments together. Trembling I took her hand again and said my final goodbye. You do not know where a person goes after death, but I just hope that she is no longer in pain and that she will always guide me and bless me. Kritika Verma, VIII A
LIFE GOES ON A year has passed by in the blink of an eye. Moments of sadness And joy have flown by. Life isn’t easy filled with struggles and despair, But at the end of the gloomy tunnel light is there. Being as bold as brass you have to find your way, Through gloomy nights filled with tears And dawn of bright new days. The worries and fears that plague you each day, In the long run would merely fade away. Just live a life that matters, Be someone of great worth. Love and be loved in return and make your mark on planet Earth. Dhriti Sinharoy IX A

Metaverse: The Future of the Internet Lately, I have been exploring the term 'metaverse' since Mark Zuckerberg made his move by re-branding Facebook as 'Meta' last year. Mr. Zuckerberg himself once defined it as “an embodied internet, where instead of just viewing the content you are in it”. The word metaverse is a combination of two words namely 'meta' which means beyond and 'verse' which means universe. Imagine a physical world in which people live, work, play, shop and interact with others - all from the comfort of their couch in the physical world! It is an amazing technology that will connect us to the 3-D world of virtual reality. A universe beyond the existing one where communication, business and social interactions can be performed with great ease. This technology is being used only in the field of virtual gaming but hopefully, its usage will expand in the coming years. Rishit Verma, IV E
DREAM TO FLY Since childhood, I was fascinated by airplanes. I used to love watching commercial planes and fighter jets in the museums. When I started travelling with my family, I got to know about the courageous people who fly these giant machines. They are known as ‘Pilots’. Their uniform, discipline and dedication fascinates me a lot. The measure of training and education that one needs to undergo to become a pilot, is also huge. The responsibilities of a pilot vary from commercial to fighter jets. Commercial pilots take the responsibility of transferring passengers and goods safely from one place to another whereas, fighter jet pilots strive to always safeguard the boundaries of their nation. The passion and valour of the pilots has given me the ‘dream to fly’. D. Anvika, V C
Back to School Ambika Gupta, III D A good education and a steady heart can help us achieve anything we want. At Ahlcon, the teachers strive towards this end. From Nursery to Class 1, I experienced this first hand, and, more importantly, offline. Yes! Offline and online school are the new terms in our dictionary of education. Who would have thought such a day would come? It was towards the end of the final assessment of Class I that the pandemic hit. Schools were closed and our last two exams were cancelled. I was jumped with joy. Little did I know that I would be confined indoors for the next two years. I was looking forward to April, and hoping all would be well by then. Well, schools did reopen in April 2020 but 'online'. It was difficult to adjust to the new system. I had to wake up and get ready for school like always but it was only to sit in front of my laptop and meet my teachers and friends virtually. It was not the same. I could not go to the playground, hug my friends and have lunch with them. Finally, In November 2021, my school reopened offline. Yay! I was thrilled beyond words because the first day of offline school also happened to be my birthday. I was not sure if I was more excited about going to school, or my birthday. I finally met some of my friends and was back at my favourite place. But four days later, they closed again due to pollution. It was like a toggle button being pressed by the government. Then on 14 February 2022, my school opened again. I started going, but every day I feared that schools might close again. But thankfully that did not happen. So for two weeks I was in a different world. I even took the exams offline, so that I could go to school for extra three weeks. I really loved that the government did not press that toggle button again; they kept the schools going. I hope it continues like that because I am now eagerly waiting for 4/4 when I would start Class IV.
