...I walk down the lane with a happy refrain Just singin', singin' in the rain... KaranVeer Singh Rai, VII A, 2023
Editor's Note Hola amigos! The sun has finally tuned out and it’s time for the beautiful water-filled clouds to show their performance. Monsoon brings in a freshness no other weather ever can. It fills us up with a bundle of emotions and a truckload of aspirations. It has the power to make us dream with open eyes and provides us with the force to work towards them. This is wonderfully put into words by Paulo Coelho in his celebrated book, The Alchemist: “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” This magnificent weather allows us to dream freely and stops us from ever limiting ourselves. It’s time to bring out those multi colored umbrellas and have the time of our lives in this beautiful weather of rain and shine. This issue of Ahlchronicle deals with love, belief and lots of tears (of joy, of course) and will fill your mind with the determination you need to set your sail free and move head first towards your own paradise. Just sit down in a calm place with the view of the weather right in front of your eyes and this issue of Ahlchronicle and enjoy the beauty while it lasts. Ciao! Aditi Tiwari

Principal's Message We have all witnessed the effects of the raging pandemic on mankind which was no less than a storm but as they say “There is always a rainbow at the end of every rain”, similarly we managed to persevere through the crisis collectively and collaboration and adaptability emerged as the cornerstone. We carved out opportunities and facilitated growth by reimagining and redefining the educational system. The new academic session started with great enthusiasm and optimism. On the very first day, we witnessed nearly 100% attendance across all the classes. Students were excited to come back to school and the campus was once again revived with their beaming smiles, laughter, interaction and curious questions. Just like the bright and diverse colours of the rainbow, our students participated in a plethora of school activities like sports, academics, co-curricular and leadership roles making us proud. The first Ahlcon Football Premier League was one of the highlights of the summer term of the session. The students took up the execution duties from the selection of the teams to the designing of the kits and logo. The faculty members and the students played together further strengthening their bond, facilitating collaboration, bonding, planning and leadership skills.
Rainbows never fail to bring a smile to our faces, similarly our students made us proud with excellent CBSE Board results in which 25 & 30 % students secured 90% and above aggregate marks in class XII and X respectively. The school toppers scored 98.6% in class XII and 98.2% in class X. Heartiest congratulations to all our students, teachers and the parents for the outstanding results. The coming together of the tiny droplets of water is what gives shape and colours to the rainbow. Similarly, when we work together, a vibrant rainbow of opportunities is created leading to quality education for a better and progressive tomorrow. I wish you all well ! Monsoon Musings... Shyambhavi Singh, XII B, 2023
THE ANIMAL WITHIN As I glance at the clouds, I wonder, What could that animal possibly be? And then, I see a lone wolf, Crouched down as if stalking its prey, And suddenly I find the thought, Of having razor sharp teeth appealing, How powerful a sensation to rule the Tundra! But the clouds change, And I notice, the mane of a lion, He lies on his side without a care in the world, Under a baobab tree, hiding from the merciless sun, How pleasant is the life of a lion, To be able to nap in the shade, Without any fear, the king of the Savannah. The wind changes direction And an orca is born, Free to conquer the waters As it pleases, and I begin to think, Oh, what dominance! Travelling the endless salty oceans, As an emperor surveying his empire. I take a few steps to the right, And from a different angle I see, A solitary jaguar, How great fun it would be, To climb the trees and see the view, From the canopy, And to hunt tapirs at the dead of the night, Honored would the feeling be, To be a God of the great Amazon. And after all this, I look up once more, Oh, how magical it would be, To fly like an eagle, And shape the clouds, with my wings. The commander of the sky. Dhriti Sinharoy XA
“If you want to find the trail, if you want to find yourself, you must explore your dreams alone. You must grow at a slow pace in a dark cocoon of loneliness so you can fly like wind, like wings, when you awaken.” ― Francesca Lia Block, Dangerous Angels Vanshika Sethi XI G
The Unseen Virus When all was uncertain and it seemed uncanny And lives were lost, not one but many When world became a battlefield And warriors became veterans When in distress, the only prayer was hope And the heart wanted to elope All what kept us sane The only mundane emotion was of pain Far apart yet connected together The earth evolved, environment changing for better The peace had become silence The uproar had settled into dust Skill development at abode had already begun Vacations were fun until walls seemed dun Many things we know and yet one learnt That this is a warning - beware and alert. Monsoon Magic Monsoon is my all-time favorite season! The sound of rain is so calming and feels magical to the ears. The fragrance of soil after it rains feels like living in the black and white times, full of nature around. And if there is sun during the rain, it’s always the main event. Seeing the seven colors of rainbow cutting through the sky feels like being in paradise among the dark rainy clouds. A rainbow feels like a flower garden in the sky. Red roses, orange autumn leaves, yellow sunflowers, green leaves, blue water and the violet/indigo berries! Eating fritters with hot coffee and listening to songs, after having a bath in the tears of clouds always feels pleasant! In short, monsoon for me is like living in heaven with the magical fairies around. Aadya Singh, VIII A
Tiger in the Woods Wind that whispers, treetops lush, Leaves that rustle, streams that gush. Up in the branches the song of the thrush, The mighty tiger waits in the bush. Dark and damp is the silent wood, Rain-washed grass under a leafy hood. The herds of deer that nibble and graze, By the sounds of the jungle quite unfazed. The majestic tiger, there he prowls, Claws the ferns, and again he growls. King of the sprawling woods of pine. Pride of the great big jungle fine. As he moves, The kakars call. And langurs shriek, From deodars tall. When the tiger rests, silence falls. Hushed is the jungle when he stalls. Yet the racket resumes, fresh, anew. When he walks on the grass, drenched in dew. Of the riches of the forest, He reigns supreme. A jewel in the crown, Forever agleam. Ehimoy Basu XB
Covid In Wuhan lab it was first to be found; On 19th March it spread all around. Covid, Covid was its name; Soon it gained so much of fame. It shut us all in our homes; Red, orange and yellow were its zones. It made us feel like the world came to an end; Could not even see a single friend. The whole world was going online; For stepping outside the house; one had to pay a fine. Always had to wear a mask; It was one of the biggest task. Heard the news of thousands of people die; It always made my heart cry. Factories and industries were shutting; People had to go for job hunting. But, it had both negative and positive impacts; Following are the positive facts- Only the thing that gave a positive feeling; Was to know the fact that nature was healing. Got to spent family time together; Family comes at the first place forever. Soon the Covid started to go away; It was one of the happiest day. Suhaani Manglik, IX D

The Goat Who Ate Fast Food There was a village situated near the Brahmaputra River, called Barbahar village. In the village, there were lots of animals. Every morning all of them used to go to the field near the Brahmaputra River and eat lots of fresh grass, vegetables, fruits and leaves. However, there was a small goat called Goatleena who was very ill-mannered. She never listened to anybody. She did not like to eat vegetables, fruits or grass. Instead she liked to eat poori, potato fries or noodles from the villagers' kitchen. One day her mother asked her to accompany them to the field. Initially, she agreed and started walking with other animals. But suddenly, she saw some children eating chips and lost her way. She ended up reaching a new city. There she saw lots of eateries and felt so excited that she forgot about her mother and other animals. She looked at all the stalls and started eating pakora, pizza, bread, and French fries. The next day also she did the same thing. Soon, Goatleena started feeling unwell and lost all her strength. Her mother got worried and fed her fresh herbs and leaves. Goatleena realised her mistakes and promised not to repeat it. After that, Goatleena started eating grass and leaves like other animals. Baswati Das, II D
How the woodpecker got its name? Once upon a time, there lived a carpenter called Jack. There was no one in the entire land who could turn a log of wood into a piece of art like him. One day as Jack was carving a table, he heard a noise from the street. He opened the door and saw Lord High Chamberlain. \"The King wants you to make chairs for him and wants them ready by tomorrow noon” said Lord Chamberlain and went back down the street. Jack sat down to do the royal job of making the high chairs. He had carved them from fine pine wood and made motifs of rose bushes. He had embedded the back of the chairs with beautiful pink and white. The head of the chairs had the royal emblem. By night, Jack had completed eight high chairs. “I will finish the rest tomorrow.” thought Jack, as he dropped tired on his bed. The next morning, just as Jack was finishing his eleventh chair, his chisel broke. The clock was ticking and he did not have much time left. Just then, a strange bird came flying through the window. Jack had never seen that bird ever before. Jack looked closely at the bird. It had a long- pointed beak that resembled a chisel. It was almost like his own chisel which broke a few moments ago. The bird started flying around the room. Jack remembered what his father had taught him about the birds and sweetly whistled at the bird and offered her a few grains of oats to befriend it. The bird at once came and sat on Jack’s palm and happily ate the oat grains from his hand. It was a magical bird and had powers. It had come from the land of carpenters, high up in the heaven. The bird started pecking at the incomplete chair, exactly at the spot where he wanted to use the chisel to scrap off the wood. Soon the woodpecker and Jack together finished the eleventh incomplete chair. The King was anxiously waiting to see the new chairs. He was mesmerized by the beauty of the chairs. They were fit to be part of the royal furniture. The party began and everyone praised the chairs. The next day the Lord went back to Jack with a bag of gold coins as his reward for the good work. Jack accepted the bag of coins graciously and thanked the Lord. After that Jack and the bird continued to make Rishika Jain, IV C more beautiful pieces from wood and the bird earned its name- The Woodpecker.
