FROM THE HISTORY OF YURIEVO The villages of Yurievo, Usovo and Kurbatovo appeared at the end of the 16th century, the starting point of their origin is connected with the campaign of Ivan the Terrible to Kazan. Close to Trinity mountain was a village of Sweat, which with his relatives lived Tatar named Bahmutka. The king took him with him as an interpreter. At the capture of Kazan, Bakhmetka distinguished himself by bravery and bravery, for which Ivan Vasilyevich loved him very much. Bahmutka accepted the Christian faith. The tsar himself was present at his baptism, called him Yuri, and in his patronymic in honor of himself Ivanovich. The former name of Bakhmetka was renamed into the surname of Bakhmetyev, for the christening the tsar gave Bakhmetyev land near the Sura River and the village of Znamenskoye with neighboring villages.

The son of Yuri Ivanovich-also Yuri, sat in the tsar's duma, was close to the tsar, served diligently, for which he was granted land located around the Pyana River near the Trinity Monastery, having arrived on the dorovannaya land, Bakhmetyev began to settle it with peasants. The first village was formed Yurievo-in honor of himself. Bakhmetyev participated in many campaigns, and at the end of them settled in Yuryev. Over time, the villages of Usovo and Kurbatovo were added to the estate. In 1795, from Grigory Alekseevich Bakhmetov, the estate passed by kinship to Anna Sergeevna Tyutcheva by her husband Chemoranovoi, and in 1818 to her son-in-law, Lieutenant General Alexander Ivanovich Mizhaylovsky-Danilevsky, who owned the estate until 1842.In 1842, the estate was transferred to Prince Alexey Sergeevich Golitsin.

The Church of the Resurrection in Yurievo In July 1815 a retired guard lieutenant and cavalier Prince Alexey Sergeevich Golitsyn, was officially put in possession of his mother's estate in the village of Yurievo. Alexey Sergeyevich erected a new stone church of the Resurrection of the Word in 1829. The architect of the new Church was made by M. P. Corinthian. The temple was designed in the Empire style. Today, unfortunately, the temple is destroyed, and every year the situation is getting worse. Nevertheless, it is an object of worship for pilgrims.

In 1937, the Resurrection Church in Yuryev was closed, the parish was liquidated, and the bell tower was destroyed. The church had a club for a long time, and then a granary. At the end of 1988, an initiative group of believers decided to re-establish the Orthodox community in the village of Yurievo. The construction of a new temple near the old one turned out to be real. With the funds raised by the villagers and allocated by the collective farm, a new church was built in early 2000 next to the dilapidated one.

A LITTLE SCARY STORY It is known from historical documents that Colonel Alexey Sergeevich Golitsyn, who owned the village of Yurievo, built a beautiful church in the \"Empire\" style. After his death, the colonel's body was buried in the family crypt. The crypt was accessible by an underground passage. The entrance to this crypt was under the Church of the Resurrection of the Word. After the revolution, the temple was destroyed. It was no longer possible to restore it, but curious schoolchildren studied the places near the old temple, went inside. There they found an underground passage and followed it into an ancient crypt. Of course, it's scary, but in the crypt, the students saw the body of Alexey Sergeevich Golitsyn, in a military uniform! One schoolgirl told us how impressed she was with the discovery. So you can get interested in the history of your village!
