David Bloor “The way I perceive Home is where I feel most safe and comfortable, for me that is a place just off a public pathway near my families house where I go to feel calm and escape the world. But also I see Home as specific people in my life who make me feel most comfortable such as my Nan. Although certain objects can also be represented as home, such as an old teddy that I carry around wherever I live. I hope to capture this in my personal exhibition prints” 3

Jordan Carter “Personally to me, home is a place that is safe, where you won’t be judged and where your family is. Like the famous quote says, for me ‘home is where the heart is’, as we have a fairly close family, to me home is also where a lot of happy memories have taken place, especially in the past few years.” 4

Silje Hansen “Everyone has a different perception and understanding of the term “home”. It’s more than just a specific physical space. To me, a home is about belongingness, safety and freedom. However, this exact feeling is very hard to expound. We have the ability to find a sense of home in someone, somewhere, or even in ourselves. I still call my parents’ house «home», even after I moved out. Soon after, I developed the feeling of home in a new space. That’s when I realised that home, to me, is perhaps a very abstract, ever-changing concept.” 6

Owin Hayes “Home to me personally means somewhere I feel myself, somewhere de- void of judgement and the place I ultimately feel most comfortable. Home is more equated to the people present rather than a specific location; Family, loved ones and friends all lead to the feeling of comfort that I associate with home. Home for me is always subject to change in terms of location, but the feeling of familiarity entwined with it will always be real and of utmost importance.” 9

w Amber Kelly “Home is somewhere where I can be completely and utterly myself and not have to apologise or explain to anyone. Home has always been a per- son to me, as I didn’t have the most comfortable home life. Home is me, I am home. I grew up alone so I always felt at home by myself with some good music. So literally where ever I am, I can always be at home as long as I have myself and my music, I am in complete bliss.” 10

Ellie May-Peel “Home means to me family and love, how we are always here for each other through thick and thin . Home is where you feel most comfortable and safe and yourself. Family means everything and home is not always a place, it’s where your loved ones are.Home is important to me , I value everyday that I get to come home and be myself and relax” 13

14

Lucy Monaghan “Home to me is not necessarily a place or house. It may be a person or object; something or someone that makes me feel comfortable and at ease. Although ultimately I don’t think it can always be seen, as I feel that it is more of a feeling than a physical location, it comes alongside safety, acceptance and freedom, and is rid of judgement and negativity. Home is where you can be yourself.” 15

Jodie Morley “Home to me is a place filled with comfort and memories, it is some- where that you can be 100% yourself and feel accepted and not judged. It is somewhere you feel safe, where you live with your family. Home is not home without family. Wherever your family is, that’s home.” 16

Melissa Pierce “To me home isn’t always an objective thing it can also be subjective, a feeling or opinion that promotes an emotion of safety and comfort. Home is filled with memories that you and family share and bring comfort to you. Memories of lost ones can also be captured within home to keep their memory alive in your life.” 19

Loida Wang “Home is the harbor of life, especially when you are tired, unhappy. For me, home is a warm and moving place. Whether we are in the scene or simply see it, it can be completely relaxing and comfortable. At the same time, home not only represents a house, a city, and more importantly, the warm things that happen in the same space with one’s family and part- ners.” 20
