Welcome to Redhill FC Year Formed: 1894 Club Nickname: The Lobsters Distance travelled: 15 miles to get here Recent league form: 35 points from 17 games League Position: 6th Last visit: 17th August 2021 History AFC Croydon Athletic 0 Redhill 5 Redhill FC was formed in 1894 and two years later, the club moved into its stadium of 88 years-Memorial Park in the centre of the town. Redhill became members of the Athenian League in 1923 and remained there until the league’s demise in 1984.Success came early, being runners up and champions in their first two seasons in the league. In 1925/26, the club enjoyed possibly its best season; reaching two cup finals and reaching the semi-final of the FA Amateur Cup, losing to Northern Nomads at Arsenals Highbury stadium in front of 17,000 people. In 1949, Redhill lost to Arsenal 1- 0 in a friendly that was offered by the Gunners after Redhill provided them with two of their best players at the time; Colin Grimshaw and Bernard Sexton. In 1957/ 58, Redhill reached the FA Cup 1st Round Proper for their only time after beating Tooting & Mitcham in the previous round, the Reds travelled to Norwich City, only to lose 6-1, but many write ups at the time gave Redhill plenty of credit for their performance. After winning the final Athenian League title in 1984, the Reds were moved into their current home at Kiln Brow. Lack of facilities meant the club could not take their rightful place in the higher league and instead found some success in the London Spartan League before moving on to the Sussex County League in 1988. After many brutal years of ups and downs, following hard work by many club officials and supporters keeping the club alive, Redhill eventually found themselves as runners-up of the Sussex League Division One in 2013, winning promotion to the Isthmian League Division One (South). Redhill’s time in the ‘Ryman’ league was relatively short lived. They finished 3rd from bottom in the relegation zone in their first season but survived when offered a reprieve. The following season saw them finish in the relegation zone once more, and this time relegated into the Combined Counties Premier Division. The club had a brief year at step 6 winning promotion back to step 5 at the first attempt. The Lobsters are heading in the right direction, and in the 2020/21 season ended a 22 year wait for silverware beating Ascot United in the Red Records Premier Challenge Cup.

1 It seems like a long time and when we 2 make the journey to take on Camberley Town all the decorations will have come down and Christmas will be but a memory. It is also a quick return fixture too with games home and away either side of Christmas! Last season it was Camberley who had the better of the two fixtures which produced just 1 goal; hopefully there will be more action this time around and a few more goals to enjoy. In the car, head down by your favourite route to the M25 and head west. Join the M3 and then head south. You leave the motorway at Junction 4 to briefly join the A331 before turning left onto the A325 and then left again onto Frimley Road. Follow this road and turn into Wilton Road at the roundabout and then follow the road around until you reach the ground where there is plenty of parking (satnav GU15 2QW). By train the nearest station is Camberley which is a 20 minute walk away or you can pick up a Number 1 bus.
