What is IQ Irrigation Control (IQ) ? IQ by Rain Bird enables the programming, monitoring, and operation of irrigation systems at single site or multiple sites from a computer, or by using mobile- devices such as a cellphone and tablet. `Control actions such as adjusting watering or stopping irrigation in the event of rain or pipe break can be accomplished almost instantly, eliminating the need to travel to remote sites Automatic Emergency Water Shutoff IQ incorporates sensors such as flow meters and rain gauges. These sensors watch the irrigation system 24 hours a day and notify the landscape manager by email when problems occur. IQ reacts automatically and shuts off water in response to mainline breaks, broken sprinklers, and rain. Weather Station Control CIMIS (the California Irrigation Management Information System) is connected to IQ for calculating the correct amount of irrigation required based on real-time weather conditions. Trained Technicians GS Brothers’ factory trained technicians have years of hands-on experience installing, operating and maintaining IQ control irrigation systems.
Testing Sprinklers Made Easy Irrigation professionals who manage systems for homeowners’ associations, school districts or municipal properties can now manage those same systems on the go from their smartphones and tablets problems. Reports IQ will also provide historical data to allow analysis and reporting of when irrigation ran, how much water was used, and field problems Background Rain Bird invented central control for irrigation over 40 years ago. Thousands of these systems are in operation all over the word. In the past, central control was limited to golf courses, municipalities and universities, and was cost prohibitive for most properties. Until now! Rain Bird has introduced the affordable IQ system, based on years of steady evolution of Rain Bird’s time-tested central irrigation control technology.
Building an IQ Control System in 2 Phases Phase 1: Start by installing these devices • ESP controller by Rain Bird The ESP-LXME Controller utilizes the Rain Bird ESP Extra Simple Programming (ESP) user interface designed for field workers and offers an easy upgrade path to advanced features. To enable automatic emergency water shutoff and IQ control by laptop and smartphone, just plug-in the flow-sensing and communications cartridges. • Master shutoff valve A master valve is an electric valve installed at the supply point which controls water flow into the main piping system. When this valve is closed water will not be supplied to the irrigation system. The purpose of a master valve is shut off the water supply automatically when necessary to safeguard against excessive water loss caused by a ruptured mainline, stuck on irrigation valve, or broken sprinkler. • Flow Sensor Flow sensors are installed next to the irrigation backflow to continually measure water use and send flow data to the controller. When the flow sensor detects excessive flow from a broken mainline or other problem, the irrigation controller automatically turns off the water by the master valve. Phase One installation accomplishes 2 important upgrades Auto emergency water shutoff. Compliance with today’s standards required by cities for new commercial irrigation systems.
Phase 2: Enable IQ from laptop, smart-phone, and smart-tablet • Install plug-in communication cartridge • Install Water Management Software The new IQ Platform delivers powerful remote water management tools so you have more control over your irrigation systems right from your computer, tablet or smartphone. If there are 2 or more controllers on site, network controllers by direct cable connection and/or spectrum radios. CONTROLLERS ON YOUR SITE
