Graham NathanGraham Nathan was born in Ōtāhuhu, South Auckland. When he was eight his family returned to Te TaiTokerau, Waiomo, in the Bay of Islands, and later onto Waimā in the Hokianga.In 2012, through his involvement in filming ‘Te Paparahi o te Raki’ (The Northern Inquiry), Graham wasmotivated to study at NorthTec where he completed the Diploma in Digital Multimedia.Graham was looking for a more tactile form of expression which led him, in 2016, to complete ToiPaematua - Diploma in Visual Arts, and began his journey into Toi Māori. He was able to develop hisskills and enroll in Maunga Kura Toi – Bachelor of Māori Art; he is now in his final year of study.Graham intends to continue learning whakairo rakau.

Inspired by her whānau through art at a young age, she has grown to love a diversityof the arts that has carried her practice to the present day.Her Grandfather has also been a great influence on her artistic career due to his work in architecturein Aitutaki, Cook Islands.Based in Kaikohe, Paewhenua is currently in her final year of Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of Māori Art).
Tui Te PaaKo Whangatauatia te maunga e tuohu nei,Ko Karirikura te moana e karanga i te ao i te pō,Ko Roma te marae, Te Ohaki te wharenui,Ko Parewhero te hapū,Nō te Rarawa Kai Whare kei Te Hiku o te Ika te iwi,Ko Tui Te Paa e tū atu nei.Te Paa was born and raised in Papakura, South Auckland, and relocated to Ahipara with her whānauin her college years. Some years after, she returned to the city to work and live in South Auckland,predominantly in the Ōtara and Manukau wards which are rich with Māori and Pasifika influences.It was there that her interest in the arts was ignited. Whilst residing in the urban metropolis and infull time employment, Te Paa completed a Dip. Bus Māori Development at Auckland University, thenTe Pōkaitahi and Te Pōkairua Reo Rumaki with the Manukau Institute of Technology, and began herjourney in Raranga at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Te Paa is currently in her final year of a Bachelor ofMāori Arts at NorthTec, under the auspices of Maunga Kura Toi. [email protected]
Nimmy SanthoshNimmy Santhosh is currently an Applied Arts student at NorthTec in Whangārei. Born in India, Nimmygraduated from Trivandrum International School in Kerala, India in 2015, and aims to become asuccessful artist and curator in the near future.Nimmy Santhosh’s artwork is driven by the idea to tap into, and awaken, all senses of her audience.In doing so, it is her intention to deeply indulge her audience in a journey of self-discovery. Nimmy’sartwork is largely abstract and photographic based, where garden flowers are photographed, thendigitally manipulated. These resulting colourful abstractions are intended to be interpreted andjudged freely by the audience themselves.Nimmy participated in two group exhibitions in Whangārei, New Zealand, in 2017: Prosper at NorthTec,and unFramed, at The Shutter Room. Evoke, held at Oneonesix Bank Street in 2018, was her first soloexhibition - an immersive and experimental art installation, exploring the psychological effects ofcolour. Carmen SnelgarCarmen Snelgar is currently a 3rd year Applied Arts student at Northtec, Whangārei.She has always had a passion for her Māoritanga and in 2005 Carmen completed her Diploma in TeReo o Ngāpuhi me ona Tikanga.She then completed a short Māori design course in 2006 before enrolling and completing the Diplomaof Applied Arts in 2011 at Northtec.Carmen is a printmaker who works with traditional Māori based images which she then redefinesonto paper, fabric or into digital format.She loves to mix traditional Māori imagery with nontraditional colours and prefers fluoro to pastel.
Emma SnellNorthland born artist Emma Snell is establishing herself as a sculptural and multimedia artist whoexplores themes such as trauma, grief and loss. Snell hopes to evoke thought and conversationaround the inevitable using experiential art.Emma is currently completing her Bachelor of Applied Arts at NorthTec, Whangārei, where she haslearnt the fundamentals of sculpture, printmaking, and painting.Emma continues to experiment and push herself with mixed media techniques. Tod TaoTod was born in Shanghai, China. He lives in New Zealand and is currently studying towards Bachelorof Applied Arts at NorthTec, Whangārei.Tod works mainly in graphic design and landscape painting.He graduated at Shanghai Commerce Foreign Language High School where he mainly studied lifedrawing and still life painting, and obtained the qualified certificate of National Art Examination inChina, in 2013.
Renée Kathleen WeatherallRenée Kathleen Weatherall is graduating from her third and final year of a Bachelor of Applied Arts(visual), from NorthTec this year. Weatherall likes to do a mixture of art works, from photography,ceramics, and painting.Over the past year Renée has been working with ceramics and photography, mixing the two togetherto create an original piece of work, that reflects the ideas that she wants to make.Renée calls her works abstract.
