SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East July 2022 Students’ Corner Interview of Class X School Topper K S Gurupriya: Q1. How do you feel being one of the school toppers? Ans- It is a spectacular feeling to witness that my efforts have paid off. I am immensely grateful to my teachers and the school for this. It also humbles me by reminding me that the journey is long and there is much more to work hard for and achieve. Q2. What is the role of discipline in your success story? Ans- Discipline I, believe is the key component of all success stories. Without self-discipline and hard work, any strategy is a poor strategy. In the long run, discipline will always beat motivation because the latter is temporary. Q3. Have you done group studies or individual studies? Which one do you think is more beneficial? Ans- I have tried a form of studying in which the benefits of both self-study and group studies can be reaped. We tried it during holidays. During the lockdown, my study mates and I decided to meet online at a scheduled time everyday where we would study our subject of choice by ourselves and when one of us had a doubt, we would ask the others for help. We also held each other accountable for being late or getting distracted. During the breaks, we even chatted and laughed, this gave us energy for the next round of studying. Please remember that it is important to have study mates who are dedicated and do not impede the progress of the group. I also strongly recommend trying this only once or twice in the year and only during the holidays. For the rest of the year, individual studies alone is more productive. Q4. Please guide and share a few tips from your experience to the current X graders to do equally good. Ans- I would like to give the following tips to my juniors - 1. Start preparing early because it is necessary to have enough time to understand concepts clearly and revise them. 2. Do Kriya regularly and sincerely. It is important to have a clear and fresh mind while studying. 3. NCERT textbooks, Exemplar, previous year questions and the notes taken in class from lectures are indispensable resources for board exams. 4. Study approach: First, focus on understanding the textbook clearly and practice questions on that topic only. Correct your answers, compare them with sample answers and see what is missing in your understanding or writing to fill that gap. Proceeding like this, once all chapters are finished, solve a sample paper or two. 5. Time management: It makes or breaks one’s results. Practicing sample papers with time allotted for each section, buffer and revision, helps master this. 6. Math's: Preparing for math exams has two components- Solving many types of questions and solving enough questions of each type. It is also helpful to learn the derivation of formulae to get a complete understanding. I personally focused on all the proof-type questions for term 2 because it is inconvenient to sit and try different approaches when bound by time in the examination hall. SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East July 2022 Students’ Corner Interview of Subject Topper K Sendur: Q1. How does it feel to be a Perfect Centum Scorer in the subject you have scored? Ans- I am overjoyed and grateful to have received a centum in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, and the hard work that I put in throughout the year really paid off, and I hope to persevere for the next two years, which I consider to be extremely important for my future studies and professional career. Q2. How should one manage time efficiently subject-wise to score more perfect centums? Ans- As for the schedule and planning that I had done to secure a good result, I made sure that I always focused on the topics that needed further revision and I revised the topics that were conducted on each day, but I never fixed myself on studies for hours and hours on end, as I used to go down every other day to play outdoor games to refresh myself, along with a few short breaks that I used to concentrate on my passion of being a Paleontologist to explore the scientific world by attending seminars, reading the scientific literature from a biological perspective and asking questions to my scientific mentors. Last but not the least, I am extremely thankful to all my teachers, who always cleared my doubts and made me understand each concept thoroughly. K Sendur Sarwaan Subject Topper Perfect Centum (100/100) in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence Class X Interview of Subject Topper A Punit Raveendran : Q1. You have faced lots of school tests held to prepare and assess you, do you remember any such exam where you scored low? Did you feel disappointed or felt even more determined to do better the next time you attempted? Ans-: Yes, I do remember the exam in which I scored really low. In the Preboard in Sanskrit subject. But fortunately, I had my parents and Gurudatt sir who completely supported me and drove me forward by providing me samples papers and helped me achieve the marks that I have received now in Sanskrit. So now I know for a fact that every time I hit the lows, I'll not back off but instead bounce back and stay motivated and strive to move forward!!. Q2. Were you expecting centum in other subjects too? Ans-: No, I wasn't expecting a centum in the other subjects. I believe in not keeping expectations high so that I don't become hubristic when I achieve them or feel crest fallen when I don't fulfil my expectations. SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East July 2022 Students’ Corner Interview of Subject Topper Lakshmi Bejoy: Q1- How many hours a day did you devote to study the subject in which you scored centum? Ans- Since AI was my optional subject, I made sure that I didn't spend too much time on it and gave it the time and effort that it required. I would spend one hour during the weekends to go through the topics that were taught by our teacher and make sure that I understood the concepts well, even though I had not memorized all the important points during that period. If I had even the slightest of doubt, I would get it clarified with my teacher whenever I had my next AI class. It was only about more than a week before my exams would start that I take out a few blank A4 size sheets and make notes from the reference material that was provided to us. But I would make sure that I wouldn't just blindly copy and paste what was there in our study material but instead read through a topic, make sure that I had all the important points written down in my mind and then write down the notes without looking at the material. I would write down the points that I feel were important in the same manner as I would want to write down in my answer sheet and the rest of it that I was sure I would remember, I would just briefly write them down. On the day before my exam, I would only read through the notes and solve all the sample question papers and worksheets provided by our teacher. This was more than enough to score a centum in this subject and this was the amount of effort and preparation that went into this subject from my end that led me to this fruitful result. Q2.Which reference books did you refer? Ans- I didn't use any reference book but stuck to the book prescribed by CBSE. I read through it thoroughly and answered every question given in it. If you treat the book as the Bible for AI and go through every topic thoroughly, that's good enough for anybody to score a centum in this subject. But of course, going out of the box and learning more about this subject is always a great thing to do because artificial intelligence is the future of this world and it is surely a very interesting subject to study. Those who are interested in pursuing this as their career can indeed go ahead and explore this subject far and wide. But when it comes to board exams, sticking to their prescribed book is more than enough. This was my overall preparation for my AI exam and I hope it will be useful for all those who have chosen AI as their optional subject. SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East July 2022 Students’ Corner Interview of Subject Topper Anagha T S: Q1. Did you top the subject which you like the most? Ans- Yes, English has always been my favourite subject and I am grateful to be one amongst those who scored the highest. 2)How much efforts do you think one should give to other subjects to make it equally interesting and scoring? Ans- Well, I think everyone needs to put in extra effort in subjects that they find difficult or those they dislike, to make it more interesting and to get a better score. Spending more time with those subjects can help one score better. Anagaha T S Subject Topper in English (99/100) Class X Interview of Subject Topper Shreya: Q1. Did you put in some extra effort in the subject in which you have topped? Ans- No, I did not put in any extra efforts in the subject that I topped (English). To be very frank - I did last minute studies for the English exam. English is the subject that is always easy for me as I keep reading books (mainly novels) and, I listen and speak in English most of the time. However, I made sure not to be overconfident and prepared my 'best' for the subject. And I would recommend not to do last minute studies for the subjects you struggle with. Q2.Which all criteria have you considered before making your stream choice of 11th grade? Ans- I first considered which subject I am interested in i.e, Science. Although sometimes Science is hard for me, I thought it was a better option over Humanities and Commerce. I chose my interest and passion over the difficulty level of the stream, as I felt that I should enjoy and be happy with the career I take up in the future. It's okay to be clueless on what you want to pursue. It happens with most students, even adults. Keep exploring and being open to new things and experiences to find out your passion. Advice to students: Be hopeful and never give up on anything. Cherish the small and big achievements, live in the present and most importantly, be a good person.
