Long-Term Athlete Development The Royal Glenora Club has embraced the Canadian Sport for Life model of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). STAGE 1: The transition has been occurring over the past 12 months to Active bring all programs at the RGC into alignment with the LTAD model, and we are pleased to announce that the Summer Start Program Guide 2015 will, for the first time, offer alignment across all sports departments. The LTAD model is designed to help yourself and your child achieve greater health, gain a better understanding of where you stand in the development model and attain higher achievement across the sports you participate in. STAGE 2: The LTAD model has seven stages of development, which FUNdamentals have been colour-coded for your convenience below: STAGE 1 – Active Start STAGE 2 – FUNdamentals STAGE 3: Learn to STAGE 3 – Learn to Train Train STAGE 4 – Train to Train STAGE 5 – Train to Compete STAGE 6 – Train to Win STAGE 4: Train to STAGE 7 – Active for Life Train Throughout the guide, you will see the coloured circles above next to the program descriptions. Simply refer back to this page to find the corresponding stage and more information about it. STAGE 5: Stages 1, 2 and 3 develop physical literacy in a fun, stimulating environment before puberty. Physical literacy Train to includes fundamental movement and sport skills that give Compete children the confidence to participate in a variety of sports and physical activities throughout their lifetimes. Stages 4, 5 and 6 provide specialized training after age 11 for those who want to compete at the highest level. To enter STAGE 6: this high performance path, physical literacy is essential. Train to Stage 7 is about staying Active for Life through recreational Win participation in any sport or physical activity. It’s also about giving back to the sport community through coaching, officiating, administration or volunteering.
