DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Leah Williams '15 President Leah graduated from Delaware State University in 2015, making history, as the first person to ever be awarded both the Presidential Academic Award for her cumulative 4.0 GPA, and the Presidential Leadership Award for her campus leadership. Leah returned to DSU, completing her MBA the following year and currently works as a Supply Chain Analyst for Northrop Grumman, one of the top Defense Technology companies in the world. Leah obtained her second Masters in Cybersecurity Technology, March 2020, with a 4.0 GPA, from the UMGC. Although very humble, Leah has received several honors, and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership, performance, and service to the community. For 2017, Leah was selected as one of the top 30 under 30 Rising Supply Chain Stars in the Country by Thomas & the Institute of Supply Management. In 2018, Leah was recognized as the Top Supply Chain Analyst of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. In 2019, Leah was selected Woman of the Year by the Employee Resource Group. Leah has been featured on Aspire TV Network, the HBCU Nation Radio Show, HBCU Times Magazine, BlkWomenInBiz, and other media networks. After being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 22, Leah serves as an advocate and strives to be an inspiration to others who are battling illness. In 2020, Leah was selected topresent to spread awareness of Crohn’s disease and other illnesses for the Society of Women Engineers Annual Conference. Leah is also an advocate for Historically Black Colleges & Universities. Leah was awarded the HBCU Young Alumni of the Year by the DCHBCUAA for 2019. Leah was selected by the White House in 2015, to serve as an HBCU All Star supporting President Obama’s Initiative to promote the excellence, innovation, and sustainability of HBCUs. Leah introduced Vice President Biden at the HBCU Week Conference. In addition, Leah currently serves as the Vice President of DSU’s National Alumni Association and in 2016, DSU selected Leah as one of their top under/over 40 alumni.Leah was also selected as DSU’s 2020 Convocation Keynote Speaker. A lifelong learner, Leah has continued to further her education by obtaining both the Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), and Security+ Certifications. A gifted musician, Leah plays nine instruments and arranges music. Leah enjoys spending time giving back to the community by speaking to students and inspiring them to reach their dreams. Leah plans to keep making her mark on the world and in her community any way she can.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Wesley Ridgeway '89 Vice President Wesley A. Ridgeway graduated from Delaware State College (now University) in 1989. In his sophomore year, he was inducted into Groove Phi Groove SFI., and as a member he held several positions of leadership, most notably Chapter Vice President. In addition, he participated on the MEAC champion Cross Country and Indoor Track teams achieving first team all-conference during his collegiate career. After graduating from Delaware State College, he joined the Wilmington Graduate Chapter of Groove Phi Groove SFI. and held the position of Chapter President. In 2001 he joined Groove’s administrative team as National Treasurer. As a result of his dedication and performance, he was awarded the National Service & Dedication award in 2005, and a Leadership & Service award in 2007. His continued growth led to taking a position of higher responsibility as National Executive Director in 2017. In this leadership role, he was awarded the President’s Award for dedication, commitment and leadership. He managed the day-to-day operations of the organization and participated on the Joint National Conclave & Convention Committee assisting with the planning and execution of National Conclaves. As Wesley was supporting Groove’s mission, he simultaneously was making strides in his professional career. He achieved his MBA from Wilmington University in 2005, his MSOL in 2010 and holds certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner as well as Fair Credit Reporting. Wesley joined Trans Union, LLC. at a pivotal time and was entrusted with heading the on-site management of inbound call center operations, who support a full-service call center. He was also tasked with certifying that operations were compliant, reliable, and supportive of consumer confidence. As such, he has served in influential, respected leadership positions that leverage operations management knowledge, while maintaining a strategic focus on the consumer and on business objectives. Prior to joining Trans Union, LLC., he established a record of advancement with Discover Financial Services, LLC. As a New Accounts Manager, and later a New Accounts Senior Department Manager, he succeeded in reaching revenue targets, strengthened company customer satisfaction and royalty, and was responsible for the daily operations of the New Accounts organization. He played an essential role in the success of a national partnership rewards and royalty fulfillment program. During his 30+ year career he has been recognized for his ability to lead change and execute on objectives.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Antionette Blake '83 Secretary Antionette Blake, who is more commonly known and widely recognized as the award winning “Delaware Blogger” is also a podcast host, vlogger, author, social media strategist, educator/coach and professional speaker. Antionette started teaching blogging classes at local libraries in and around the state of Delaware in 2013, then she began teaching podcasting in 2019. Antionette is the content creator of the DelBlogger blog and hosts 2 podcasts: Blog Your Way to a Business Profit and The Delaware Blogger Podcast. Antionette is an alum of Delaware State (College) University, Class of 1983, BS Elementary Education. Active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Mu Psi Sigma Chapter. She is a native New Yorker who was employed in Corporate America for 32 years, married for 30 years, and is the mother of 2 adult sons. As the owner of ABlake Enterprises, Social Media Marketing and Consulting she works with industry leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs assisting them with strategies to help them broaden their brand and expand their exposure online. Antionette creates and curates content for their targeted audience and works to ensure that they are engaging on the correct platform with consistency and creativity.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Shannon Booker '06 Assistant Secretary Shannon Booker graduated from Delaware State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. As a student leader Shannon served as a Resident Advisor, the Head Mentor for the Summer Bridge Program, a Student Worker in the Office of Student Leadership and Activities, and as a Student Government Association and Residential Hall Council Member. Shannon also became a member of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., in Fall 2002. Upon graduating from DSU, Shannon spent 11 years working in higher education in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. He had the honor to work at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Nova Southeastern University and Delaware State University, where he served as a Resident Director for the University Courtyard Apartments. After his time in Higher Education Shannon transitioned into Corporate Learning and Development where he has been working for the past four years. Shannon has also received a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University in 2010. Shannon is the co-founder of the DSU Diehards and was instrumental in DSU traditions that are still going strong to this day. Shannon is also the founder of Social Fitness Atl, which is an organization that focuses on social issues while uniting and celebrating the diversity within the Atlanta running community. Through his work in the community, Shannon has been featured on the local news in Atlanta and in several publications. One of his biggest accomplishments include a school supply drive that resulted in donations being given to seven schools. Shannon has also held a Holiday Shoe Drive where they collected 180 shoes and raised money to purchase hats, gloves, socks, and personal care items for the homeless and less fortune.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Diane Kirby '09 Treasurer Diane Kirby has a degree in Business management, where she has taken courses in accounting along with other business-related courses. Diane has also worked at Enterprise, the car rental company. There she learned the how to run a branch from a management perspective. Diane has worked at DSU for 7 years in Institutional Advancement. She has helped manage the accounts for the DSU Foundation for the first 3 years, which included taking payments, recording them, and sending out payments to vendors. Diane also created and send out financial reports to various account holders. For the last 4 years, she has worked in Alumni Relations, a division of Institutional Advancement. During this time, Diane has worked with two DSUAA administrations, sending them financial reports and helping them as needed. Diane manages the DSUAA memberships, which includes sending out membership directory. While Diane has not held any positions in the DSUAA at any level, she has worked with the association as a DSU employee and fellow alumna. Diane would like to be able to help the alumni from both sides; the university side as an employee and the DSUAA side as an alumna. Her hope is that there will be a better communication flow from both sides.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Alexander Hackett '16 Assistant Treasurer Alexander Hackett graduated from Delaware State University in 2016, as the first person in his family to graduate from college. Alexander was awarded the Ernest E. Just Undergraduate Award for Residential Assistant of the year in 2015. After Graduating, Alexander received a job in finance from one of the most prestige banks in America, PNC Financial Group, as part of their excel program. During that time, Alex was able to assist PNC with some of their recruitment initiatives and was promoted a year later to a campus recruiter at their headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA A lifelong Wilmington Native, born and raised right in the heart of the city, Alex decided to come back home to now teach the kids and families in his community some of the amazing financial skills he had learned. Kuumba Academy Charter School gave him the opportunity to teach 7th and 8th graders about finance. Opening his eyes seeing the everyday struggle the kids and parents were going through, Alex decided to not just talk about the solution but be the solution. Alex realized that if he wanted to help people, he has to be where the decisions are being made and he ran for city council in the 5th district where he resides. Coming short of victory for city councilman, Alex won the support of the people and most importantly gave the youth a visible role model they could look up to and follow. Currently Alex is a Staff Assistant for United States Senate Tom Carper. It is amazing how things can happen by having faith and walking through a door you might have not looked at in the past but it now aligns with your futures entirely . Alex is a member of the National honor society (sigma alpha pi), Kappa Alpha psi, metropolitan urban league, founder of the god brother of Delaware that is based on Delaware State University campus.

She is an Ordained Prophet/Pastor, a certified Sexual and Domestic Violence Response Team Advocate, a certified Biblical counselor (including premarital/marital and addictions counseling). In 2012, Dawn received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Delaware State University. She is now in a Master’s Program studying to receive a Master’s of Christian Psychology in Clinical Counseling, licensure as a Clinical Pastoral Counselor and a Certification in Temperament Counseling. ─Dawn is the Founder of New Dawn Empowered Life Ministry a faith-based ─organization where she functions as the CEO and Chief Visionary Strategist. Dawn shares her story with hurting people across the nation. She explains how she overcame sexual abuse, domestic violence and other traumatic experiences. Dawn’s mission is to see the brokenhearted rescued from internal torment and restored back to wholeness. Over the years, Dawn has had the privilege to minister at universities, on live radio, television, online broadcasts, at various churches, domestic violence events, women’s fellowships, sorority events, mentoring programs and various other functions. It is a safe space where women network with experts from various fields, connect and bond with their sisters and so much more. During her reign as DSUAA National Chaplain, Dawn created “PRAYER MATTERS '' on the DSUAA Facebook page to provide live prayer to our Alumni. She also welcomed prayer requests which were submitted by email. While at DSU, she was a Resident Assistant, member of the Approaching Storm Marching Band, and worked in the Early Childhood Laboratory School. Ralonda was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) International Honor Society in Education, serving as its Vice President and President the following year. In 1994, Ralonda became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Additionally, she was elected Ms. Jenkins Hall for the Homecoming Court. Following graduation, Ralonda moved to the Ewing, New Jersey to teach third grade later moving to the city of Trenton, NJ where she became the “teacher next door” living, interacting and positively impacting the lives of the students she taught. During her teaching career, Ralonda taught in public, charter, and parochial schools. Ralonda earned her master’s in business administration in 2005, from the University of Phoenix, Philadelphia/Bensalem Campus. In 2009, she began working in the non-profit sector, but continued to address the needs of children in the area. As the Vice President of Programs with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mercer County, she bridged the gap between students and the surrounding community by “matching” mentors and mentees. During her tenor with BBBS, through her efforts and knowledge of the school system and businesses in the region, children were introduced to and paired with mentors from companies such as Bloomberg (robotics program) and Princeton National Rowing Association (peer-based mentoring for middle school students). In 2014, after training in New York and Philadelphia, Ralonda followed her passion for acting and voice overs and moved to California to pursue a new career in the entertainment industry. Her current goals are to voice children’s programming, narrate children’s literature and expand her professional resume with film, television, and print productions. DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Shawnzetta Suggs '87 Administrative Assistant Shawnzetta Suggs received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Delaware State College in 1987. She later received her MBA degree (with an Executive Leadership Concentration) from Wesley College in 2005. Shawnzetta served as Treasurer for the National Delaware State University Alumni Association (DSUAA) from 2018-2021 and is a member of the DSU Alumni Leadership Council. Shawnzetta was employed at The Principal Trust Company, retiring in 2009 after 22 years of service in Operations Management in the Finance Division. She held various management positions over the years, and was responsible for the daily operation and direction of the Securities & Check Processing, Electronic Processing, New Accounts, Statements, and the Client Services Departments. Shawnzetta is a member of St. Matthews Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Stars – Prince Hall Affiliate, State and Jurisdiction of Delaware, where she currently is the Grand Treasurer and member of other Grand Chapter Committees. She is also a Past Matron at her local chapter, Morning Star Chapter #7, OES-PHA. Shawnzetta is Secretary and a charter member of the Order of the Golden Circle – Dover Assembly #96. Shawnzetta is a lifelong and active member of Trinity A.M.E Church in Middletown, DE. She has held many positions over the years (Young People’s Department Director, Trustee, Missionary Secretary), and currently is a member of the Trinity Place Executive Board. She also is President of the Jefferson Family Foundation where her family is sponsoring a scholarship in the name of her late grandmother, Daisy G. Jefferson at her church. Shawnzetta is a native Delawarean who resides in her hometown, Middletown, DE with her husband Reggie and daughter Regine. Her daughter graduated from Early College High School (ECHS) in 2019 and currently on target to graduate from DSU in December, 2021 (2 years early) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Dr. Reba R. Hollingsworth '49 Parliamentarian Dr. Reba R. Hollingsworth, born in Milford, Delaware, was the second eldest of seven children born to Solomon and Rachel Shockley Ross. During her junior year at Delaware State College, she married her now late husband of more than sixty-eight years, Berlin N. Hollingsworth on December 28, 1947 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Milford, Delaware. They have one daughter, Vivian O. Dancy, one grandson, William J. Johnson, and two great-grandsons, Jeremiah J. Johnson and Jayce A. Johnson. She currently resides in Dover, Delaware. After graduating from Delaware State College in 1949 with a B. S. degree in Home Economics, she began her teaching career in Rains, South Carolina. In 1954, she was hired to teach Home Economics and Science at William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, Delaware, where she worked until 1966, when she was employed as a guidance counselor at Dover High School in Dover, Delaware until she retired in 1988. Dr. Hollingsworth earned her M.Ed. degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Delaware in 1970. She completed all work (except the dissertation) toward a doctorate degree from Temple University and did advanced studies at Chapman College and the University of La Verne in California. In 2001, Dr. Hollingsworth earned her Ph.D. Degree in Counseling from Pacific Western University in Los Angeles, California. In addition to her teaching/counseling career, Dr Hollingsworth was a cookware salesman, an Overseas Travel- Study Counselor, an adjunct professor at the University of La Verne, Wilmington College, and Delaware State University. She was the counseling practicum supervisor for the University of Delaware, Southern Illinois University, and Wilmington College; consultant to the Brandywine College Admissions Department; instructor/trainer for Parent and Teacher Effectiveness Training courses; and co-owner of Hollingsworth & Hollingsworth Consultant Services specializing in Pre-Marriage and Marriage Counseling and Parliamentary Procedure Workshops and Training Sessions. Dr. Hollingsworth has participated in many communication, counseling and behavior modification workshops and is a nationally certified counselor, who participated in standardizing the National Counselor Certification Test. Dr. Hollingsworth is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and her involvement in civic, professional, and community activities are many and varied. Among the many honors and awards presented to Dr. Hollingsworth are 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Distinguished Delaware State University Alumni, Queen Mother, named Nana Afua Nyamboah of the Bretou Clan, Asiaka, Ghana, West Africa and the DSU Early College High School guidance department was named for Dr. Hollingsworth. In 2018, she was inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame and was selected as a Faithful and Unsung Honoree of Whatcoat United Methodist Church. In 2019, Reba received the Inner City Cultural League, Inc. Phenomenal Woman Award, became a member of the Friends of the Delaware Public Archives Board, and became a member of the Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame, Inc. In 2020, she received the Richard Allen Coalition, Inc. Award for Outstanding Service to the Community.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Jasmine Goko '13 Historian Jasmine Goko is a multifaceted young kingdom entrepreneur (an entrepreneur mixing ministry and the marketplace to advance the kingdom of God) hailing from Queens, New York. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Delaware State University and then went on to obtain her MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Long Island University – Brooklyn Campus. While attending Delaware State University from 2009 to 2013, Jasmine volunteered her time by attending various walks, and helping with outreach off campus. Jasmine was a part of several organizations including the SGA Street Team, and the Rotaract Club which was sponsored by a local Rotary Club. Jasmine moved from the role of member to the Exec 5 Historian. Jasmine also was on the Colleges Against Cancer Logistics Committee, and involved in Above & Beyond, & the Africans In Alliance Association. Jasmine even showcased her talents as an Alto in the University Concert Choir, and also interned at the Early Childhood Laboratory School on Campus. Jasmine joined the women’s ministry and guest services team at the local Trinity Christian Center church that she is a proud member of. Jasmine realized she had a passion for women and young adults, and took a leap of faith by hosting her first Girl Power Brunch in November of 2017. Jasmine has continued to host a variety of events for small start up brands and brunches to gather, uplift, and encourage women. Jasmine also hosted brunch events in which attendees would discuss the topic, read scripture, and then pray. Jasmine transitioned these events to virtual due to the pandemic. Jasmine also hosted a makeup webinar and is currently developing her skills in the artistry. In August 2020, Jasmine decided to step out on faith and quit her job at the NYC District Council of Carpenters as the Benefit Processor/Admin of the Pension Department, to pursue the things that God placed on her heart as a Full Time Entrepreneur. Jasmine started a faith based YouTube Channel sharing various testimonies of her life, and then as her first official business venture, she became an author. Jasmine wrote a book dedicated to the past, present, and future students of Delaware State University. The book was actually birthed from the Virtual Brunch & Prays she hosted and was written and published via Amazon in December of 2020. The book is titled “Dear Hornet, We See You”. It is a 30 day devotional book on how to navigate through college with God, and includes letters from a few alumni on what they would of told their younger selves before entering into DSU. The book is based on the bible verse 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So encourage one another, and build each other up, just as you are already doing”. It is meant to encourage the past, present, and future students letting them know that we see you, you are not alone, God sees you and will help you get through this college journey and beyond. Jasmine has hosted and participated in several events to promote and discuss the book. Jasmine has also utilized platforms to open up about her past trauma and recently just co- authored a book titled “ The Card of Life – Finding Your Winning Hand\" with 15 other women from various states. The book is curated by Premadonna Braddick of the Soaring Eagles Youth & Family Service based in Tulsa Oklahoma. The book is currently available for purchase and is full of a preview of the life stories of the other co authors and how they’ve overcome/are overcoming. Jasmine is working on building her ministry to spread the word of God via platforms such as Instagram and Youtube and is also currently hosting her Virtual Brunch & Prays on a once a month basis. Jasmine has a big heart to serve, encourage, and uplift young adults and women to recognize who they are in Christ and be all that they are called to be. In all that Jasmine does she will continue to let her light shine to transform the lives of anyone who encounters her.
DSUAA 2021-2023 Building Bridges Connecting Past, Present, and Future Generations Kevin Perry '18 Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Delaware State University in 2018 and Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Business Analytics in 2019. During his tenure he served on several committees and held leadership positions such as President of the Accounting club and National Associate of Black Accountants (NABA). While earning his MBA, he worked as a Graduate Assistant for the DSU Football team and a Resident Assistant. In 2017, Kevin served on Student Government Association as 13th Mr. DSU, becoming the first student - athlete to be elected to this position. Mr. Perry is the President/founder of a non-profit titled, “Creating Exceptional Opportunities,” which is a program geared to help high school students prepare for college by teaching them a myriad of professional, networking, and brand building skills through seminars, workshops, and mentoring. Currently, Mr. Perry is a resident of North Carolina where is employed as a management consultant, working for PricewaterhouseCoopers, global accounting firm in Financial Services. He travels all over to clients, identifying problems and implementing solutions for Retail and Commercial banks. While in North Carolina, Kevin continuously engages within the community by leading acts of service and racial equity. He is a coach and mentor to rising professionals about the benefits of intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship, and overall financial advice. He is a certified tax preparer and previously worked for financial and accounting companies such as Barclays, SB & Company, and KPMG. Kevin is native of Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from T.C. Williams High School and became a first generation college graduate. In April, Kevin was the recipient of TBS’s first ever HBCU Cashout Contest, earning $25,000 toward his student loans. He aspires to become a Chief Executive Officer of a Fortune 500 company and become the catalyst of financial freedom, financial knowledge, and financial empowerment for all individuals.
