The Goat and The Donkey Illustrated by Kinley Penjor
A trader owned a donkey and a goat. The donkey would carry the load all day, and he worked without complaining. The goat didn’t have anything to do as the trader needed her only for her milk.
So, the goat felt ignored and jealous.
One evening, as the donkey was resting, the goat went to him and said, “You work so hard all day. I bet you need a vacation. Tomorrow, when the master calls you, pretend to be ill and refuse to work. You will get some rest.”
The innocent donkey agreed, and he did as the goat said. The master took him to the doctor.
The doctor examined the donkey and said, “Your donkey has a strange problem. He needs to drink the soup made from a goat’s heart to get well.”
Without thinking, the master killed the goat and prepared soup for the donkey. Moral: Jealousy will always meet a sad end.
