THE OWNER NEIL MORRISWell where I start. Life with the Manchester Phoenix really has been a rollercoaster ride so where moreappropriate to play from at the moment than Blackpool. Although only a little Arena the people thereare really friendly and they have been so hospitable to us. So firstly a big thankyou to Dan, Vicky & theirstaff, awesome people. As always the Technical & media departments @Comtec Live have beenunbelievable, guys you always exceed my expectations when given the impossible to do with no timeand very limited budgets, I am very proud to wear the same logo as you guys. We also have had a lotof help with the team that do all the press, social media and creative design work behind the scenes, thank you all of you. And as always what a fantastic supporters club we have led by some true leaderswho work tirelessly in both the off season and now. And lastly but not least the Season Ticket holdersyou are all the Faithful that makes this club such a great place. For the record only 4 people out of allthe season ticket holders asked for their money back when they found out we would not face off inManchester for the start of this season. I have lots of people who can’t make it to Blackpool but are stillseason ticket holders. Without you lot I would have walked away and quit on this dream a long timeago. Humbled by you, all of you.So Blackpool. Well I am biased as I have been coming here since a little boy and have some awesomememories of this place. In a strange sort of way I am actually excited that a chapter in this book will bededicated to the people and the Town of Blackpool. There is a guy that is going to write a book all abouthow the Phoenix rising from the ashes of the Storm and follow its journey. Tony and I laugh aboutpossible excerpts that people may read. Obviously there will be masses in the book that we have neverdared to talk about in the public domain. Judgement day for some may be coming, lol.I would like to just take a little time out to thank our lead sponsors. JDavidson, Millingtons, Comtec,Goodwins, WG&R and of course all our affiliate sponsors of which there are too many to list in myarticle. A big Thank you, from Tony and I and everybody involved in our organisation. So we will start with a smaller squad this season and build upon. Tony has a plan and as always I willjust leave him to do what he does. Let’s be honest people he is Mr Ice.So the first couple of weeks are going to be a bit bumpy while we get this bird out of the sky and downon the tarmac, remember stay calm and don’t grab for the oxygen masks. We have great people, wehave Great Spirit and the best fans in Ice Hockey. We will be fine, oh and don’t ever forget;Serva Fidem. 6

THE COACH TONY HANDHello everybody well I know that Neil has done a lot of thank you’s in his article and for once I got to see it.Electronic programs another first, with a printable team playing sheet. I have to say I have watched this club leadthe way in many ways in Ice Hockey since I joined them over a decade ago. I never thought it would be such ajourney it really has been amazing. I think in some ways Neil and I are lucky that we get on the same page soquickly and have a very similar never say die attitude. Both of us are very excited at the thought of playing back close to the centre of Manchester once again. It hasbeen hard work of course not everyone wants us to be successful and there will always be those who will try tohalt your progress. We have been working very hard together on the permanent building which has to run hand inhand with the temporary solution which we expect to be in place for the next 5 years. In the meantime it is verykind of Blackpool to allow us the use of their arena in Fylde. It’s not the biggest arena in the North West but the people that run it make up for what they don’t have with theirhearts and effort. Playing out of Blackpool will be fun, some of my friends have already pointed out that it must bestrange playing Ice Hockey with a beach just up the road. After being with Neil for this long time, nothing isstrange is anymore, don’t tell him, you know how delicate he can be.Well for the record I have always had to work hard over the summer for the Phoenix but it has been my hardestoff season yet. Most of you know by the comments Neil and I have already made but the negative environmentand the constant criticism of the club over the summer has made it very difficult to attract players. Sometimessocial media does sound informed and real even when it is not. However when people are constantly tellingeveryone who will listen that we will never play again, and we really don’t have a building back in Manchester oranywhere else to play in the meantime it makes my job very difficult.I am not on my own it has been just as tough for Neil with attracting sponsors and investors including fans alike.Life can be tough but we just have to get on with it. I am pleased with the bunch of guys we have put together. Tobe honest I am still talking to a couple of guys and we will strengthen the squad as we get playing. Sometimesthis can be an advantage as I get to see how my lines work and then I get to choose the type of player that will fitbetter. In the meantime Neil, I and everybody else involved in the organisation will continue to give 110%. We will be agreat club once again and I hope you are all there to see it with us.May I finish by thanking Neil for inviting me to become a Board Member of the Manchester Phoenix. Over thecoming years I am sure I will bring a lot to the table as I grow enjoy my role as Director Of Hockey with the club. The Coach. 7
