Voice Mail Instructions Tips For Recording Your Greeting 1 Update your greeting frequently Be sure to update your greeting with holiday breaks and before leaving for the summer. 2 Smile while you record your greeting. The sound of a smile helps create a tone and message that convey who you are and how much you care about your students and parents. 3 Keep it upbeat. While you're already smiling, avoid using words like sorry, unfortunately and can't. Instead of saying, \"I'm sorry, unfortunately I can't take your call right now\" try saying something like, \"I'm currently engaging students in a fantastic and fun lesson! If you're a parent, be sure to ask what we were doing today!\" VOICE MAIL INSTRUCTIONS 3

Try to plan on recording your greeting before school or after school, to limit the sound of bells and students switching classes in the hallway. 5 Write it out and rehearse. Before recording your greeting, write out exactly what you want to say, and practice it a few times. It may seem silly, but it will make you more comfortable when recording your greeting. 6 Let your callers know what to tell you. 6. Tell callers what information to leave. Let callers know what information you need to return their message as quickly and efficiently as possible. \"Please leave me your name, your child's name, your phone number and what time is best for me to call you back.\" Being specific allows you to streamline checking and responding to messages and get back to people quickly.
